Galaxy S21 Ultra gets lower DxOMark camera score than Galaxy S20 Ultra

The Galaxy S21 Ultra received excellent reviews worldwide, thanks to its improved design, faster and more reliable performance, longer battery life, and better cameras. The new phone brings along two telephoto cameras (3x and 10x optical zoom), massively improving the zoom range compared to the Galaxy S20 Ultra. However, the Galaxy S21 Ultra actually received a lower DxOMark score compared to the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

In DxOMark’s camera review of the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the phone received an overall score of 121 points. In comparison, last year’s Galaxy S20 Ultra received 126 points after being reevaluated with version 4 (the latest version) of the review process. Breaking down the score, the Galaxy S21 Ultra received 128 points in the photo segment, 98 points in the video segment, and 76 points in the zoom segment. The Galaxy S20 Ultra received 128 points in the photo segment, 106 points in the video segment, and 88 points in the zoom segment. According to DxOMark’s review, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is not as good as the Galaxy S20 Ultra in video and zoom quality.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra DxOMark Camera Review Score

We know that the Galaxy S21 Ultra has more reliable focusing, improved low-light images and videos, and a longer zoom range than its predecessor. But the phone still got a lower score than the Galaxy S20 Ultra. So, what actually went wrong? DxOMark wasn’t impressed with the two zoom cameras, and according to them, the new zoom cameras are not worth much over the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s single 5x periscope zoom camera. DxOMark says that artifacts and noise in images are pulling down the phone’s score.

In terms of video recording, the Galaxy S21 Ultra received a score similar to the Pixel 4a. Apparently, video stabilization is the phone’s primary issue. DxOMark only tested the 4K 60fps mode, though, and not 4K 30fps and 8K 24fps video modes. The company says that it didn’t test the 8K video recording mode because of its lower quality stabilization.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra DxOMark Camera Review Zoom Artifacts Comparison

Overall, the Galaxy S21 Ultra not only received a lower score than its predecessor, but also last year’s flagship smartphones. It scored lower than 16 other smartphones, including the Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ (139), Huawei Mate 40 Pro (136), Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra (133), Huawei P40 Pro (132), Vivo X50 Pro+ (131), iPhone 12 Pro Max (130), iPhone 12 Pro (128), Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro (128), OPPO Find X2 Pro (126), Galaxy S20 Ultra (126), Honor 30 Pro+ (125), iPhone 11 Pro Max (124), Huawei Mate 30 Pro (123), iPhone 12 Mini (122), iPhone 12 (122), and the Honor V30 Pro (122).

Our own review of the Galaxy S21 Ultra revealed that it offers a more reliable camera performance compared to the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Various other experts and reviewers share our views and say that the Galaxy S21 Ultra is the best smartphone camera right now, so it is up to you to believe DxOMark’s testing methodologies. What do you think about DxOMark’s Galaxy S21 Ultra camera review? Let us know in the comments section below.

Get Location service for the Galaxy Watch 3 will soon be discontinued

Samsung’s Find My Watch feature is about to get less useful, according to an end of service notice that’s seemingly being sent out by Samsung to Galaxy Watch 3 owners. The notice reads that although the Find My Watch feature will remain available, the Get Location service will be terminated on March 15, 2021 due to changes in Samsung’s service policy.

This implies that Galaxy Watch 3 owners will be able to continue using the Find My Watch feature within the Galaxy Wearable app to locate the device as long as it’s in close proximity and its ringtone can be heard. However, users will no longer be able to get the smartwatch’s approximate location on a map using Find My Watch.

Fret not, SmartThings Find comes to the rescue

Although Samsung will be pulling the plug on the Get Location service later this month, this won’t mean that Galaxy Watch 3 owners will be left without a way of locating their smartwatches in case they’re lost or stolen. Fortunately, Samsung has introduced SmartThings Find to the Galaxy Watch 3 through a firmware update earlier this month.

SmartThings Find has a proximity finder and a location tracker for Galaxy devices built-in, so even if the Get Location feature within Find My Watch will cease to function in a couple of weeks from now, customers won’t lose the ability to find their Galaxy Watch 3 smartwatches in case they’ll need to.

We’re guessing that this change might be coming to other Samsung smartwatches besides the Galaxy Watch 3 but we have yet to confirm this. We’ll keep you posted.

Thanks for the tip, @Vaiofreak!

Samsung Messaging app is coming to Windows 10 PCs

Samsung Messaging might soon be coming to Microsoft’s Windows 10 platform, letting PC owners send and receive SMS text messages directly from their computers without having to use screen mirroring through Link to Windows and Your Phone.

There’s not a lot of information about the app so far, and Samsung hasn’t revealed any plans for its release, but the Windows 10 app exists and it was recently spotted at the official Microsoft Store under the Utilities & tools category.

The app is not yet available for download in any of the regions we’ve tried, so we were unable to obtain it and test it ourselves. For the time being, the app is accompanied by a ‘Redeem a code‘ button at the Microsoft Store and it’s limited to a fairly small number of devices. So, even if the app would be available for download, it wouldn’t be very useful for a lot of Samsung customers, yet.

Samsung Messaging is compatible with 4G / 5G-enabled PCs

The official description claims that the app is for devices capable of using mobile data (5G and 4G LTE). Furthermore, the list of compatible devices is very limited as of this writing and includes the Galaxy TabPro S, the Galaxy Book 10.6 LTE, Galaxy Book 12 LTE, Galaxy Book 2, and the Galaxy Book Flex 2 5G. As it stands, Samsung Messaging would require Windows 10 version 18362.0 or higher.

There’s no word on when Samsung Messaging might become available at the Microsoft Store but preparations are obviously being made. Samsung might be planning a test release at first but hopefully the app will not be geo restricted. Likewise, perhaps Samsung will make the app compatible with additional device models and add Wi-Fi support later down the line. We’ll keep you up to speed as soon as we find out more.

Exynos 2200 SoC could outperform the Apple A14 in graphics two to one

Last week we were left wondering whether Samsung’s upcoming Exynos 2200 chipset equipped with AMD graphics will debut along with a smartphone or a new laptop, but it could be both. Samsung is reportedly developing two versions of the Exynos 2200 SoC: one for the Android mobile scene and the other for the laptop segment. Presumably, the chips will share a similar architecture but each will be tuned for their respective segments and form factors.

Exact specifications pertaining to the Exynos 2200 chipset are unknown but the source — @TheGalox_ — claims that early tests are very promising. Not only is the Exynos 2200 faster than the existing Exynos 2100 solution, but it also supposedly outperforms the Apple A14 chipset by a great margin.

The Exynos 2200 SoC might give the Apple A14 a run for its money

The two Exynos 2200 solutions will perform at slightly different levels. Laptops are not as compact as smartphones, which means that their chipsets can usually benefit from better cooling and improved performance. According to the source, the Exynos 2200 solution designed for laptops will be roughly 20% faster than the mobile version.

Meanwhile, the Exynos 2200 SoC for mobile is already shaping up to be a powerful sequel to the Exynos 2100 and a strong rival to the Apple A14 solution. The source claims that the Exynos 2200 for mobile will deliver 25% better CPU performance and 2.5x faster graphics compared to the Exynos 2100. Furthermore, the chipset could double the performance of the Apple A14 in terms of graphics.

Of course, Apple is likely developing its own next-gen SoC designed to outperform the A14, so it remains to be seen how the Exynos 2200 SoC will fare against the A14 sequel later this year. It will be Samsung’s first chipset to employ AMD graphics and a lot of fans of the brand are placing great hope in this development.

Galaxy Xcover 5 ditches physical nav buttons but retains thick bezels

Samsung’s next-gen rugged phone, the Galaxy Xcover 5, has seemingly been in development for at least a few months but up until recently it has never been exposed in leaked renders. This changed over the weekend when the first Galaxy Xcover 5 press render was leaked by @evleaks via Voice. It reveals the phone’s design from the front, and it strongly suggests that the Galaxy Xcover 5 won’t be a direct sequel to the Galaxy Xcover Pro.

This is because the upcoming model doesn’t have a full-screen design, though oddly enough — and unlike the Xcover 4s and Xcover FieldPro — it doesn’t have physical navigation buttons either. Assuming that the render is accurate, and it most likely is given the source’s track record, the design of the upcoming Galaxy Xcover 5 will combine elements from the regular Xcover series with the Galaxy Xcover Pro.

The phone retains the red side key that should act as a dedicated push-to-talk button, but unlike the Xcover FieldPro and the Xcover Pro, the upcoming model doesn’t seem to have the additional top-fitted emergency button that can be programmed with different functionalities.

The Galaxy Xcover 5 has a selfie camera embedded in the upper bezel but pictures of the back panel are missing. According to an earlier rumor, the device should have a 16MP main camera, a 5MP selfie sensor, a 5.3-inch HD+ display, and a 3,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging, though it’s unclear if the unit will be user-removable.

Galaxy S21 Ultra 10x optical zoom module will be sold to other OEMs

Samsung has revolutionized the concept of mobile zoom cameras with its latest creation – the dual folded camera module that’s capable of optical 10x zoom. It debuted with the company’s latest flagship phone series, specifically the Galaxy S21 Ultra model, but this impressive technology won’t remain exclusive to Samsung. Or at least, this isn’t what the company wants.

On the contrary, the optical 10x zoom camera that can be found only on the back of the Galaxy S21 Ultra could soon be employed by other OEMs. Samsung Electro-Mechanics confirmed today that it is already supplying the module to global smartphone companies. Samsung Electro-Mechanics hasn’t named any clients so your guess as to what OEM will be using Samsung’s optical 10x zoom camera next is as good as ours.

Samsung has once again hinted at the automotive market

Samsung’s been showing a bigger interest in the automotive market lately. Last year the company expanded its MLCC (multilayer ceramic capacitor) manufacturing facility to be capable of supplying MLCC solutions to carmakers, and earlier this year there were reports about Samsung allegedly planning a new wave of mergers and acquisitions across the automotive supply sector.

Now, the company has reminded us of its automotive ambitions once again. Along with its recent announcement regarding the distribution of the Galaxy S21 Ultra zoom camera to other OEMs, Samsung Electro-Mechanics also claimed that it will utilize the technology and expertise it accumulated in the mobile area thus far to expand its business with global automotive companies.

This suggests that Samsung wants to become a bigger supplier of optical sensors for carmakers, though it’s unclear if the existing dual folded zoom camera module could have any practical uses for this segment.

Best Samsung Phones in March 2021 – Picked by experts

Given the sheer number of devices that it releases every year, finding the best Samsung phones can often prove to be a challenge for most customers. It doesn’t matter if you want a flagship or a budget device. Samsung offers plenty of options for all price ranges.

To make it easier for you to find the one that best suits your needs, our expert reviewers have created this list of the best Samsung smartphones. We’ll explain precisely why a device has made it on to our list and provide you with links to their detailed reviews. This will help you cut through the noise and really find out what is the best Samsung phone.

Our Best Samsung Phone List For March 2021

Our list for March 2021 has a great mix of devices, helped by the launch of Samsung’s new Galaxy S21 series. We have also included some of good Samsung phones in the mid-range and affordable categories that are currently available.

Best Samsung Phone – Spec monster: Galaxy S21 Ultra

The Galaxy S21 Ultra has big shoes to fill. It follows the Galaxy S21 Ultra which was Samsung’s everything and the kitchen sink phone. Last year’s flagship was packed to the gills with the best that Samsung had to offer. It’s a similar story for the Galaxy S21 Ultra as it remains the company’s undisputed spec monster.

Samsung’s latest high-end flagship features a 6.8-inch display with a 10Hz to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The Galaxy S21 Ultra is capable of hitting the 120Hz refresh rate at the highest WQHD+ resolution. Depending on the market, the Galaxy S21 Ultra will be available with an Exynos 2100 or Snapdragon 888 chipset. It’s paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. No external expansion is possible as the device doesn’t have a microSD card slot.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra retains its predecessor’s 5,000mAh battery. It does get an updated camera setup which includes two telephoto (zoom) cameras capable of achieving 100x Space Zoom. It also gets a whole host of new software features that take full advantage of the camera setup’s capabilities.

There’s even support for the S Pen. The Galaxy S21 Ultra is the first non-Note Galaxy device to get the S Pen. However, one doesn’t ship with the device. You’ll need to buy it separately in addition to a case that lets you carry the S Pen because it doesn’t slide inside the smartphone.

Samsung has once again set the benchmark for the rest of the Android manufacturers. This handset will remain the best Galaxy phone to be released this year. No other Samsung handset due in 2021 will have the kind of specs that this does. Looking beyond what’s under the hood, the Galaxy S21 Ultra also has exceptional build quality and a great design.

Reasons to buy: Powerful cameras, great battery life, exceptional display and top-notch performance.

Who should buy: Loyal Samsung fans, mobile gaming enthusiasts, mobile photographers and vloggers.

Best Samsung Phone – Productivity: Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

There’s no question about it, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra tops our list as the best Samsung phone for productivity. Samsung has made a number of meaningful improvements to its latest flagship smartphone, particularly the S Pen upgrades. The S Pen latency has been dropped to 9ms in order to provide a more fluid and natural experience with the stylus.

The 6.9-inch Galaxy Note 20 Ultra also comes with the latest in smartphone technology as well as 5G support. It happens to be the first Samsung smartphone to feature a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate display.

This is actually the first time that a Samsung phone has had a variable refresh rate. The Galaxy Note 20’s display switches between 10Hz, 30Hz, 60Hz and 120Hz. It depends on whatever’s being shown on the screen. This is done to save power by not using the maximum refresh rate in circumstances where it’s not necessary. Pretty neat.

Samsung has also significantly improved the camera setup compared to its predecessor. There are several new software features and new camera modes that enable customers to get the most out of this $1,299 flagship. All of this makes the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra stand out as one of the top Samsung phones of 2021.

Reasons to buy: Best display on a smartphone, wireless DeX, gorgeous design, enhanced camera functionality and great battery life.

Who should buy: Customers who want the latest Samsung phones, power users, mobile gamers, vloggers and content creators.

Best Samsung Phone – Compact: Galaxy S20 FE

Samsung is out with a new Fan Edition model this year. The Galaxy S20 FE packs many of the best features of the Galaxy S20 series into a more compact package. It uses the same flagship-level chipsets, a 120Hz refresh rate display and a respectable 4,500mAh battery. Samsung has replaced the glass back with plastic and that’s actually a good thing.

The 6.5-inch flat display is great for those who don’t particularly like curved displays. The two 12-megapixel cameras offers similar results as the Galaxy S20+ and it even comes with an 8-megapixel telephoto camera that provides 3x lossless optical zoom. Samsung has also confirmed that it will receive three years of Android OS upgrades. For all of the amazing tech that it offers, the $699 price tag for the 5G variant of the Galaxy S20 FE makes it one of the best value Samsung phones to buy this year.

It’s a good move by the company to offer the Galaxy S20 FE. This enables it to compete against rivals that offer premium, near-flagship like devices for far less than what a traditional flagship would cost. The Galaxy S20 FE allows Samsung to go after those customers as well. That’s what makes it worthy of a place among the top rated Samsung phones of the year.

Reasons to buy: Great design, well-built, great performance, flat AMOLED display and three years of OS upgrades.

Who should buy: Customers who want a flagship-level phone for less, those who don’t want to be worried about breaking the glass back.

Best Samsung Phone – Foldable: Galaxy Z Fold 2

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the latest and greatest foldable smartphone from Samsung. It brings some major improvements compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Fold. This includes a larger 6.2-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch Infinity Flex display that’s made of Ultra-Thin Glass and has a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate. The design has been improved as well and the hinge is now more durable. It even gets Flex Mode which allows the hinge to free stand at different angles so that the phone can effectively become its own tripod. You can even wirelessly charge it like that!

Under the hood, you’ll find the Snapdragon 865+ processor with 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The top-notch specs make the device a bona fide flagship smartphone and its unique form factor just adds to its appeal. The cameras aren’t exceptional by any means but they are enough to get the job done for most users. There’s tons of new functionality, though, which takes full advantage of the large screen.

It goes without saying that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 deserves a place on this list. It’s truly shaping up to be one of the best Samsung phones ever made.

Reasons to buy: Unique form factor, stylish design, great performance and useful features.

Who should buy: Power users, loyal Samsung fans, hype beasts and influencers.

Best Samsung Phone – Mid-range: Galaxy A51

There are some good Samsung phones in the mid-range segment and this particular model is truly a gem. Samsung made several key improvements to the Galaxy A51, the successor to its hugely popular Galaxy A50, and they have paid off. The Galaxy A51 remains one of the very highly regarded Samsung mid-range smartphones in 2021. The build quality is robust and the 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display is seriously impressive.

There’s plenty of power under the hood as well, with the $399 Galaxy A51 being able to power even the most intensive of mobile games. The camera setup got a major upgrade and the Galaxy A51 is actually Samsung’s first smartphone with a macro camera. Despite its modern makeover, the Galaxy A51 has kept the 3.5mm headphone jack, which many consider being of crucial importance in a mid-range device.

The Galaxy A51’s value for the Samsung Galaxy 2020 lineup was further highlighted when the company released a separate 5G variant for it. Samsung offers the Galaxy A51 5G in select markets. It’s a great option for those who are looking for an affordable smartphone to experience 5G without breaking the bank.

Reasons to buy: Beautiful design, macro camera, excellent display, good gaming performance, 3.5mm headphone jack.

Who should buy: Mobile gamers, photography buffs and customers looking for a reasonable upgrade from a budget device.

Despite being a budget handset, it features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display, 128GB internal storage, a quad camera setup and a very impressive 5,000mAh battery. Its MediaTek Helio P65 chipset isn’t suited to gaming, though, at least when it comes to resource-intensive games like PUBG.

It’s a decent budget smartphone otherwise. The AMOLED display is one of its biggest selling points and so is the 5,000mAh battery. Camera performance is decent as well while the design and build quality are both respectable.

Reasons to buy: AMOLED display, good design, 5,000mAh battery, decent camera performance.

Who should buy: Customers on a tight budget and those who need long-lasting battery life.

Why These Are The Best Samsung Phones This Month

Samsung’s strategy has long been to offer something for everyone. We now have one of Samsung’s most diverse smartphone lineups. You have an absolute spec king in the Galaxy S20 Ultra to the extent of being over the top. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is certainly one of the best Note devices yet from Samsung as it builds on the feedback from Note loyalists and provides them with improvements they have long been asking for.

The Galaxy Z Flip is in a league of its own when it comes to foldable smartphones. There’s really no true successor for it on the market yet. It’s also a refreshingly unique device, perfect for those who are fed up with the monotony of smartphone design. The Galaxy S10e may have been out for over a year now but it’s still a great value for the kind of specs it offers.

Samsung has capitalized on the Galaxy A50’s popularity for the Galaxy A51 and made it a worthy successor. It’s a solid competitor in the highly lucrative mid-range smartphone market. The Galaxy A51 does everything that you’d expect a device of its caliber to do without breaking a sweat. Lastly, customers won’t have much to complain about with the Galaxy A31. It’s incredibly clear in its purpose and because of that, it’s worthy of being on this list.

What is the newest Samsung phone? – March 2021

It has often been difficult to keep track of the newest Samsung phone given that the company releases so many throughout the year. Samsung has dozens of models across different series which cater to all price ranges. This page will be updated on a monthly basis to ensure that you can always know what is the newest Samsung phone in each series.

The latest Galaxy Phone in every series

Galaxy Z Fold 2

The highly anticipated successor to the original Galaxy Fold has finally been unveiled. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 was made official alongside the new Galaxy Note lineup on August 5. Samsung will start taking pre-orders for the device from September 1. That’s also when the company revealed more details about the device.

It comes with a larger 6.3-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch foldable display at 120Hz refresh rate. The internal display is more durable as its made out of Ultra Thin Glass. It gets flagship-level internals including the Snapdragon 865+ with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Check our Galaxy Z Fold 2 specs page for the detailed specs of this device.

The camera setup of this device includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor paired with a 12-megapixel ultra wide and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is available for pre-order now and will be released on September 18. It costs $1,999 and is offered in Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze color options.

Galaxy Z Flip

Samsung’s second foldable smartphone wasn’t launched as part of its Galaxy Fold series. The company decided to launch it as the Galaxy Z Flip instead. The Galaxy Z Flip was released in February 2020 and has quickly become one of the most highly sought after foldable smartphones on the market, and for good reason.

As we point out in our Galaxy Z Flip review, the device feels surprisingly normal despite the fact that it can fold in half into something you can easily wrap your hand around. It features 2019 flagship-level specs with a Snapdragon 855+ processor, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. There’s also a 12-megapixel f/1.8 wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide camera at the back. Selfie duties are handled by a 10-megapixel f/2.4 camera embedded in a punch hole in the 6.7-inch foldable display. It also has a combined battery capacity of 3,300mAh.

The Galaxy Z Flip is available far more widely than the Galaxy Fold was. It costs $1,380 and comes in three colors – Mirror Purple, Mirror Black and in select markets, Mirror Gold.

Galaxy Note

August is Galaxy Note month and right on cue, Samsung has unveiled two new handsets this time around as well. The Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra are now official and available for pre-order. They’ll go on sale come August 21.

There are some major differences between the two models. The Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra feature a 6.7-inch flat FHD+ display and a 6.9-inch Quad HD+ curved display with dynamic 120Hz refresh rate. The former doesn’t have a microSD card slot while the latter does. Both don’t support 45W super fast charging, maxing out at 25W instead.

While the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra retains the signature metal and glass build that Samsung flagships have become familiar far, the Galaxy Note 20 only gets a plastic back. That’s a surprising decision Samsung has made this year, in addition to not offering 120Hz refresh rate on the smaller handset.

They also use the same Exynos 990/Snapdragon 865+ chipsets with the Note 20 only getting 8GB RAM while the Ultra gets a 12GB RAM configuration as well with up to 512GB of storage. Check out our hands-on to learn more about these phones and visit our devices page for the full Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra specs.

Prices start at $999 and $1,299 for the 5G Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra respectively.

Galaxy S

Samsung unveiled its highly anticipated flagship lineup for 2021. The newest Samsung phones in the Galaxy S lineup are now the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and the Galaxy S21 Ultra. All three handsets are powered by the Exynos 2100/Snapdragon 888 chipset depending on the region. Samsung is offering different RAM and storage options on the variants.

The display supports adaptive refresh rate and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. Samsung has also revamped the design with a new Contour Cut camera housing that adds a touch of class to the device. It has taken away expandable storage, though, so there’s no microSD card slot on the entire lineup.

The Galaxy S21 is the entry-level device and also the smallest of them all. It features a 6.2-inch FHD+ flat display. Samsung has opted for a plastic back on this device instead of glass. Its camera setup includes a 12-megapixel f/2.2 ultrawide, 12-megapixel f/1.8 wide with OIS and 64-megapixel telephoto f/2.0 camera with OIS and 3x zoom. There’s also a 10-megapixel front camera. A 4,000mAh battery keeps the lights on with support for 25W fast charging. The Galaxy S21 is available in 128/256GB storage with 8GB of RAM.

Samsung has given the Galaxy S21+ a larger 6.7-inch FHD+ display. It also gets a flat panel but has glass on the back instead of plastic. This device has the same camera setup as the Galaxy S21. It’s also offered in 128/256GB storage capacities with 8GB of RAM. The Galaxy S21+ has a slightly larger 4,800mAh battery compared to its predecessor.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra is Samsung’s ultimate flagship. It comes with a 6.8-inch WQHD+ curved display that supports 120Hz refresh rate at the highest resolution. The camera setup puts the device in a league of its own. There’s Samsung’s latest 108-megapixel primary sensor, 12-megapixel ultra-wide and two 10-megapixel telephoto cameras with 3x and 10x optical zoom.

The handset offers an impressive 100x Space Zoom. A laser autofocus module is present as well. There’s a 40-megapixel camera up front for selfies. The Galaxy S21 Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery and is available in 128/256/512GB storage with up to 16GB of RAM.

Samsung has slightly reduced the prices for its 2021 flagship lineup. The Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and the Galaxy S21 Ultra start at $799, $999 and $1,199 respectively. The devices went on sale January 29. Check out Galaxy S21/Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra hands-on for our thoughts on the new devices.

Galaxy Fan Edition

Samsung has brought back the Fan Edition moniker and has also confirmed that it will release new Fan Edition models of its flagships every year. It’s kicking things off with the Galaxy S20 FE which is being marketed as a flagship in its own right.

Unveiled in September 2020, the Galaxy S20 FE brings many of the best features that were introduced with the Galaxy S20 lineup earlier this year. It gets a 6.5-inch FHD+ flat 120Hz refresh rate display, the same Exynos 990/Snapdragon 865 chipset, stereo speakers, a large 4,500mAh battery and three years of Android OS upgrades.

The Galaxy S20 FE also comes with a triple-camera system at the back which includes a 12-megapixel wide and 12-megapixel sensor in addition to an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and 30x Space Zoom. A 32-megapixel camera is present up front.

Samsung is now selling the Galaxy S20 FE. Prices start at $699 for the 5G variant in the United States.

Galaxy A

Samsung has significantly expanded its Galaxy A series over the past couple of years. It now offers over a dozen smartphones across all price ranges. You can get a entry level device like the Galaxy A10 and a 5G-capable device like the Galaxy A90 5G.

The Galaxy A12 and Galaxy A02s are now the latest Galaxy phone in this series. These are actually Samsung’s first 2021 budget handsets. They were unveiled in the last week of November and will be released across the globe in January.

The Galaxy A12 comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ TFT display. The MediaTek Helio P35 chipset is available with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. There’s also a 5,000mAh battery under the hood with support for 15W fast charging.

Its camera setup includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide as well as depth and macro sensors of 2-megapixel each. There’s an 8-megapixel selfie camera as well. Prices for the Galaxy A12 start at 179 euro.

The Galaxy A02s also features a 6.5-inch HD+ TFT display with a 1.8GHz octa-core processor that’s paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. A 5,000mAh battery is also present with 15W fast charging support. The triple camera setup at the back consists of a 13-megapixel primary, 2-megapixel macro and depth sensors. A 5-megapixel selfie camera is also present.

Samsung released the Galaxy A02s in February 2021. It’s priced at 150 euro.

Galaxy M

Samsung introduced its Galaxy M lineup earlier this year. It’s a new budget lineup aimed primarily at India with features that were previously never seen on devices in this price range from Samsung. The series is also unique in that Samsung only sells the Galaxy M devices online.

The Galaxy M51 is currently the latest handset in this budget series. It comes with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with a Snapdragon 730G chipset paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. The handset runs the latest version of One UI Core out of the box. All of this is paired with a massive 7,000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging.

The rear quad camera includes a 64-megapixel primary, 12-megapixel ultra-wide and 5-megapixel depth camera in addition to a 5-megapixel macro sensor. There’s a 32-megapixel camera upfront.

Samsung is now taking pre-orders for the Galaxy M51 in Germany for 360 euro in blue and black colors. It will be available in markets like India soon.

Bear in mind that this list only tells you about the newest Samsung phone in every series, not what’s the best in a given price range. It’s to show you what the latest phone is so that you know what to look out for when buying a new Samsung smartphone.
