Galaxy Tab S7’s battery capacity has been revealed

Samsung is planning a mega launch event for August, where it will reportedly launch multiple devices. The Galaxy Tab S7 and the Galaxy Tab S7+ are also expected to debut in the same month. While the Galaxy Tab S7+’s battery capacity was leaked two weeks ago, we’ve just now stumbled upon information that reveals the Galaxy Tab S7’s battery capacity.

The Galaxy Tab S7’s battery (EB-BT875ABY) has passed through the necessary 3C certification process, and the supporting document reveals that its capacity is 7,760mAh. That’s around 20 percent smaller than the 9,800mAh battery inside the Galaxy Tab S7+. However, we should point out that the Galaxy Tab S7 has an 11-inch screen, while the Galaxy Tab S7+ has a 12.4-inch screen.

Compared to the 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S6’s 7,040mAh battery, the Galaxy Tab S7’s a higher battery capacity to support its slightly larger, 11-inch display. The tablet is expected to be available in Wi-Fi only and 4G LTE variants. The Galaxy Tab S7+, however, will also be available in a 5G variant in some markets. The larger variant of the tablet recently received Wi-Fi certification.

The Galaxy Tab S7 is expected to feature a QHD+ Super AMOLED screen with HDR10+, an under-display fingerprint reader, and an S Pen. The tablet might also come with Snapdragon 865 processor, more RAM compared to its predecessor, and a microSD card slot. Other features of the upcoming tablet might include AKG-tuned stereo speakers, better cameras, and Android 10 with One UI 2, and 25W fast charging support.

Galaxy Note 20 will reportedly have a flat screen

The Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra are expected to be officially unveiled on August 5. The upcoming high-end smartphones are rumored to bring bigger displays, faster processors, better screens, and higher capacity batteries. The Galaxy Note 20 is also rumored to bring a change in its design that would be appreciated by many S Pen fans.

According to noted tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), the Galaxy Note 20 will have a flatter screen. This design change would undoubtedly make it easier to use an S Pen towards the edges of the display. Most Galaxy Note series and Galaxy S series devices since the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge have had curved edge screens. However, Samsung started reconsidering its strategy with the launch of the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10 Lite, and the Galaxy Note 10 Lite.

There’s still no credible information on whether the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will have a curved screen or a flat screen. So, we’ll have to wait a few days more to know if Samsung plans to shift to flatter screens for the Galaxy Note series completely. Many Galaxy Note fans have been requesting for flat displays for better ease of use, especially while using an S Pen.

The Galaxy Note 20 is expected to feature a 6.7-inch screen, but it might not feature a refresh rate of 120Hz. The phone could be equipped with the Exynos 992 processor (or Snapdragon 865 in some markets), 12GB/16GB RAM, 128/256GB storage, a microSD card slot, a triple-camera setup at the rear, a 4,300mAh battery, and at least 25W fast charging.

Would you prefer a flatter screen or a curved edge screen on your next Galaxy Note series smartphone?

Samsung’s new budget phone with removable battery hits benchmark

A couple of weeks ago we talked about Samsung’s apparent plans to bring back removable batteries for cheap smartphones, at least judging by pictures of a new removable battery that’s being developed for an unannounced phone. Now it looks like the very same affordable device has been spotted in the Geekbench database, where it carries the same SM-A013F model number.

The benchmark reveals a mere 1GB of RAM and a MediaTek MT6739 chipset under the hood of Samsung’s unannounced budget phone. The MT6739 SoC is a cost-effective solution equipped with four Cortex-A53 CPU Cores clocked at up to 1.5GHz and an IMG GE8100 graphics chip operating at a frequency of up to 570Hz.

The case of the mystery Galaxy A budget phone

Obvious low-end specifications aside, the SM-A013F model number also suggests this is another budget entry in the Galaxy A lineup. The Galaxy A01 with model number SM-A015F was released in January, and so the model number spotted at Geekbench in recent weeks (SM-A013F) should represent a cheaper variant.

However, as tempting as it may be to associate the SM-A013F model number with the so-called Galaxy A01e, Samsung’s usual naming convention dictates that an ‘e’ variant of the phone should’ve carried model number SM-012F instead. Therefore, it’s not entirely clear how Samsung will market this device, but regardless of how it ends up being called, it already shapes up to be Samsung’s most affordable mobile solution of the year.

Now, whether or not the company will bring it to the masses is another matter. We haven’t heard anything official yet and there is no info regarding availability, but we’ll keep you updated as soon as we learn more. Until then, check the benchmark below and let us know your expectations from what seems to be Samsung’s most budget-conscious phone of the year. Do you think a removable battery would be a good selling point? Leave a comment below.

Your Galaxy Z Flip warranty may be voided if you do this

What’s the first thought that most people have when they purchase a new smartphone, particularly one that’s as expensive as the Galaxy Z Flip? They go online and start searching for durable screen protectors and covers.

There’s no avoiding accidental drops and with these premium devices utilizing metal and glass, they can slip out of your hand quite easily. So while it’s all good to use a case with the Galaxy Z Flip, a screen protector is not something you should be considering for the clamshell foldable.

Don’t use a screen protector with your Galaxy Z Flip

Samsung recommends that customers don’t use screen protectors with the Galaxy Z Flip’s foldable glass panel. We’ve started seeing quite a few of them being sold online and many customers would decide to buy one when they get the device. Many also consider applying protective films on the entire device using adhesives. If they use either, not only do they risk damaging the display, but then could also end up voiding the warranty on their device.

We wanted to see where Samsung stood on the subject of screen protectors for the Galaxy Z Flip, and this is what we heard back from the company:

As outlined in the care instructions included with all Galaxy Z Flip devices, third-party adhesives such as films or stickers should not be adhered to the Galaxy Z Flip screen by customers, doing so could void the warranty.

Samsung has no problems with customers using a case with the Galaxy Z Flip. It even ships one in the box itself. The company isn’t too keen on users applying screen protectors on the Galaxy Z Flip, though. So if this is something you’ve been considering, you may want to hold off on buying that screen protector because you’d really not want a voided warranty on a $1,380 device.

This is when the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2 might go on sale

You may have heard by now that August 5 is when Samsung is going to unveil the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Fold 2. While Samsung hasn’t confirmed it yet, this will most likely be an online event, given what’s going on in the world right now.

What hasn’t been discussed so far is exactly when these devices will be available for purchase by the public at large. The latest information suggests that there might be a two week gap between the time they’re unveiled to when they’re available in stores.

Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2 launch date revealed

Jon Prosser, a YouTuber better known for his accurate Apple leaks, also mentions August 5 as the date for Samsung’s virtual Unpacked event. He goes on to add that the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Fold 2 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G will be unveiled at this event and that these devices will be launched on August 20.

This is all within the realm of possibility. There normally is a gap of about a fortnight between when new devices are unveiled and when they hit shelves. The launch dates will obviously vary by market but we can expect that at least major markets like the United States and countries across Europe will get these devices on August 20.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything of this right now. We can expect an official confirmation for the virtual Unpacked event to arrive at some point in the coming month.

Amazon sells the Galaxy A51 for the price of Galaxy A31 for a limited time

It’s been a little over a month since the unlocked Galaxy A51 was released in the USA, and if you’ve been waiting for an opportunity to buy the phone at a discount, today might be your best day. Amazon USA is selling the Galaxy A51 for the unbeatable price of $289, down from the original $399 price. The device is factory unlocked, it has a single SIM slot, it comes in black, and it has 128GB of storage.

The clock is ticking fast on this deal so you might want to act quick. As of this writing, there are nearly 17 more hours left before the deal expires and Amazon brings the Galaxy A51’s price back to normal, so make sure to check the links below if you require more information.

A Galaxy A51 for the price of a Galaxy A31

The Galaxy A31 was released earlier this week and, in some markets like India, the phone costs roughly $290. This should put Amazon’s deal into perspective since the unlocked Galaxy A51 in the USA costs roughly as much as a Galaxy A31 in other markets. At least for the day.

The Galaxy A51 was one of Samsung’s best-selling smartphones in Q1 2020. The company managed to ship roughly 6.8 million Galaxy A51s worldwide in the first quarter. The phone outperformed the Galaxy S20 in terms of sales and it was only outmatched by Apple. These figures are a testament to Samsung striking a good balance between price and specs, and the ongoing deal makes the Galaxy A51 that much more attractive.

In addition, Samsung Malaysia is offering free gifts to customers who buy the Galaxy A31 before June 30. Aside from getting an RM 50 discount, buyers will also receive free Protection Plus worth RM 119 ($28).

A well-rounded mid-range phone

The Galaxy A31 is one of Samsung’s most well-rounded budget phones of the year. It has a large 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a decent pixel count of 2400 by 1080, a MediaTek Helio P65 chipset, and it ships with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage expandable via microSD.

Like many other Galaxy A (2020) devices, the Galaxy A31 aims to deliver not only a decent screen but also a multi-camera system. It’s made of a 48-megapixel 1/20″ sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide, and two 5MP shooters, one for macro and the other for depth.

The Galaxy A31 runs Android 10 and One UI 2.0 out of the box, and all the components tap into a 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging. All in all, the Galaxy A31 is a competent budget phone and you’d be hard-pressed to find a better value proposition at this time. Will you be buying one, or have you ordered yours already? Galaxy Note 20 to be unveiled alongside these new devices on August 5

For the past few years, Samsung has been unveiling its new Galaxy Note flagships at an Unpacked event in August. That’s what would have happened in 2020 as well had the world not found itself grappling with a pandemic. In just a few months, the world has been turned upside down and our way of life as we knew it completely changed.

A full-fledged event is out of the question for Samsung as COVID19 restrictions are still in place across the globe and traveling in these uncertain times is difficult as well. So Samsung is going to conduct an online launch for the Galaxy Note 20, and it may not be the only device that it launches that day.

Four new devices will be unveiled at Samsung’s August 5 event

We have heard multiple reports over the past few weeks that the company’s next Unpacked event is going to be an entirely virtual affair. It would be streamed on Samsung’s website and social media channels.

According to a new report, it’s going to be a packed event. Samsung is going to unveil the Galaxy Note 20 on August 5 in addition to the Galaxy Fold 2. The Galaxy Watch 3 will also be announced then as well as the Galaxy Z Flip 5G.

The report makes no mention of the new flagship tablet that’s also in the pipeline. So perhaps the Galaxy Tab S7 may be unveiled soon before or after the Unpacked event on August 5. Samsung still hasn’t confirmed the date for its online event, but keeping the global condition in mind, it’s highly unlikely that it would be able to conduct an in-person launch event for these devices.

Samsung explains why its QLED TVs are best for gamers

With a new generation of gaming consoles being on the horizon, it’s high time for you to upgrade to a QLED TV, at least as far as Samsung is concerned. Namely, the world’s largest television manufacturer today shared a new infographic detailing the many benefits that its QLED TVs can offer to gamers. While Samsung TVs have long been considered one of the top options for enabling high-end gaming experiences in one’s living room, the industry giant now appears to be investing extra efforts into actively targeting this consumer demographic.

From ultra-low input lag and AMD FreeSync Premium support to split-screen capabilities and high-end audio playback, the infographic attached below essentially summarizes every main selling point of Samsung’s modern QLED TVs, gaming applications notwithstanding.

Samsung’s QLED gaming push continues

In terms of audio benefits, Samsung’s dedication to 3D sound is of particular note for gamers. As Sony revealed in March, the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 console will not, in fact, offer Dolby Atmos support. Instead, its proprietary Tempest Engine will output native 3D audio, meaning it should do an even better job of leveraging contemporary TVs and surround setups, especially the premium part of the market which Samsung has been dominating for a while now.

Video game consoles aside, Samsung is also keen on appealing to the PC crowd moving forward. It was just last week that the company doubled down on its ultra-premium gaming monitor business with the launch of the Odyssey G7, the world’s first such lineup with a curvature rating of 1000R. In layman’s terms, if these monitors extended into a full circle, that sphere would have a 1m radius. Samsung has also been investing in eSports for numerous years now, both on its own and through numerous partnerships with high-profile developers such as PUBG Corporation (i.e. Tencent). Now, if only we could get Microsoft’s crazy-promising Project xCloud on Samsung TVs

Galaxy Fold 2 may not have a feature that everyone has been waiting for

There has been a lot of excitement for the Galaxy Fold 2. Many Samsung fans are looking forward to seeing what improvements Samsung is going to introduce with its third foldable device. Quite a few of them feel that the company should bring S Pen support to the Galaxy Fold 2.

However, if a new report is to be believed, this may not be the case. Samsung is reportedly not going to offer an S Pen with the Galaxy Fold 2. Technical limitations are what has apparently prevented the company from doing that.

Galaxy Fold 2 won’t feature an S Pen

There’s no denying the fact that foldable displays just aren’t as strong enough as conventional displays. While Samsung has improved durability with the Ultra Thin Glass on the Galaxy Z Flip, and the Galaxy Fold 2 is also expected to feature UTG, it may not be durable enough to support the S Pen.

A report out of South Korea suggests that Samsung hasn’t developed a foldable display yet that can endure the use of a stylus. Consider this: the thickness of the Galaxy Z Flip’s UTG in the first half is 0.03 mm compared to the Galaxy Note 10‘s 0.4 mm. Clearly, there’s a long way to go before these panels can offer the same kind of durability as made possible by Gorilla Glass 6 on the Galaxy Note 10.

Samsung has reportedly determined that both UTG and the transparent PI films that it used for the original Galaxy Fold’s display are unsuitable for use with the S Pen. This means that we may have to wait for a while before we see an S Pen-equipped Galaxy Fold. Durability remains a concern with foldable smartphones and Samsung would probably not want to rush things.

Given the durability related delays that the Galaxy Fold suffered at launch, Samsung would obviously not want a repeat of that for the Galaxy Fold 2 as well, so it seems like the company has decided to play it safe this time around.
