It seems Huawei and Samsung have let bygones be bygones as the Chinese telecom giant has contracted Samsung Display to manufacture the AMOLED screen for the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, it has been revealed. It’s replacing BOE and LG, who manufactured the OLED for the Mate 20 Pro.
While the reason behind the switch is unclear, some believe the Samsung’s established production line, as well as the impeccable quality of its AMOLED screens, were responsible for it winning the sole contract — it can meet Huawei’s requirements without having to bring in another manufacturer.
That’s appealing, notes Huawei Hub, as it means it can focus its efforts on meeting with one manufacturer, both minimizing the risk of leaks and ensuring that everything that flies off the production line meets its high standards. In short, a sole manufacturer simplifies the entire process.
Apple is also believed to have struck a deal with Samsung Display
It emerged in December that Apple would use a new Samsung-made AMOLED for the 2019 iPhone. It’s said to have tasked Samsung with the contract because it’s one of the few suppliers who have the technology required to integrate the touch aspect into the screen, which allows for a thinner device.
