Galaxy S7 Nougat release for Europe could occur on January 17th

We got our first peak at Samsung’s Nougat release timeframe as “early next year” when Verizon Galaxy S7 and S7 edge users in the US were abandoned by Big Red in Samsung’s Galaxy Beta program. Next, a post from social site Weibo showed that Samsung would end the Galaxy Beta program for Nougat testing at December’s end – and that Nougat would be released to current devices in January. That’s it. No specific date, just this month as the timeframe for the sweet treat’s release.

Well, a new leak, written  says that Samsung may release Nougat for European Galaxy S7 models on January 17th. According to Google Translate, the first paragraph of the image below reads, “I’ve used SM-is expected G935F model. Your device to be released as Android 7.0 update of January of 17 of Nougat.” Yes, the screenshot there is in Spanish, but according to the source below, was translated from Turkish to Spanish and lost some details in the process.

galaxy s7 europe nougat release date

Additionally, the screenshot says “Android 7.0,” but Samsung has said that it would release Android 7.1.1, skipping Android 7.0 and adding in the incremental update to bring it current with Google’s latest release. With that said, either “Android 7.0″ refers to the basic label of the update (like Android 6.0 would be used to label 6.0.1), or Samsung intends to release one 7.0 update in some regions and 7.1.1 in others (which seems strange). Nougat is already rolling out as a soak test to some users, so the final release could be within days of schedule.

The model number above is SM-G935F, which clearly refers to European variants of the Galaxy S7 edge, so it’s safe to say that, if the screenshot above is true, then European models of the S7 edge and its non-edge sibling can anticipate Nougat’s release in about a week from now. Of course, we can’t verify all the details of the screenshot above and have ourselves received no specific date regarding Nougat’s release, so take this with the proverbial grain of salt.

Galaxy C5 Pro, C7 Pro, and C9 Pro series “is coming,” leak reveals

The Galaxy C5 Pro, C7 Pro, and C9 Pro are smartphones we’ve been tracking for some time. Just a few days ago, the Galaxy C5 Pro leaked in images, and the Galaxy C7 Pro broke cover just yesterday. As for the “Pro of the Pro phones,” the Galaxy C9 Pro, we’ve seen photos of this top mid-ranger a few months ago. Now, after all the leaks, we finally get a phone poster that comes from Samsung itself, with the company’s name present.

Mmddj_china, known as of late for his leak regarding the Galaxy X timeframe and the first photo of the Galaxy C5 Pro, is back with the company’s confirmation of the Galaxy C Pro smartphones. He tweeted “C is coming,” with a leaked poster that shows the phone monikers Galaxy C5 Pro, C7 Pro, and C9 Pro, with the phones and their colors visible. We’ve seen the black color variant of the C9 Pro, a gold color variant of the C7 Pro and the same color will be available for the C9 Pro. The Galaxy C5 Pro has been leaked in a color that seems to be the same Blue Coral color we’ve seen for the now-deceased Galaxy Note 7 and the Galaxy S7 edge. Samsung seems intent on bringing this new color to quite a few phones in its lineup. Its inclusion in the poster the leakster has shared is an indication that the Galaxy C lineup will also be graced with the sexy Blue Coral color option.

Finally, as if we didn’t already know about the tech-drooling cameras with their large megapixel count, there appears to be a reference to the 16MP cameras that will grace these handsets. It appears as though the Galaxy C series as a whole may see these 16MP selfie and rear cameras, which makes buying these phones, no matter which you choose, more attractive. This is unusual indeed, but is much appreciated. After all the leaks, a final announcement is what we’re all waiting for.

Daily Deal: Samsung wireless charger is available for $22.99

One of Samsung’s first wireless chargers is now available on Amazon for just $22.99. Being one of the early wireless charging accessories means that older devices will require a wireless charging cover to make this work. However, the newer crop of handsets like the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, the Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge as well as the Galaxy Note 5 will work just fine without a case.

This charger doesn’t come with fast charging tech enabled, so you will have your patience tested if you’re switching from a fast charging accessory such as Samsung’s most recent wireless charger. So which phones will require a wireless charging case? Well, the Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Note Edge, the Galaxy Note 4, the Galaxy S4, and the Galaxy S5 will need you to fix a wireless charging case to make this charger work. Barring this one little caveat, the charger here is a steal.

Galaxy J3 Emerge receives Wi-Fi certification running Android 7.0 Nougat

A handset, bearing the same model as the Galaxy J3 Emerge, has been granted Wi-Fi certification for the second time in three months, but this time running Android 7.0 Nougat. Typically, when a unit is certified running a new flavor of the open-source operating system, it indicates that a rollout is right around the corner.

However, there’s a minor discrepancy. The Galaxy J3 Emerge, which started making its way into the hands of the public on Friday, January 6, is listed on Samsung’s website as running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Seeing as the device is brand new, we find it strange that the firm didn’t release it with Nougat on board.

Nevertheless, it’s still reassuring to hear that it’ll be receiving the much-anticipated Android 7.0 update sooner, rather than later. The only thing left to say is that if Samsung was as dedicated to bringing the upgrade to its aging lineup of former flagships as it is to new handsets, customers would be a lot happier.

Samsung introduces a new All-In-One PC with an integrated soundbar

Along with the new Chromebooks, the Notebook 9, and the Odyssey gaming laptop, Samsung has also introduced a new All-In-One PC at CES 2017. The new Windows 10-powered all-in-one PC has a unique design with an integrated soundbar acting as its base with a tiltable screen at the top.

The aptly named All-In-One PC has a 24-inch 1080p touchscreen, height-adjustable display that can also be tilted. The PC uses a 2.4GHz Intel Core i5-7400T (35W) processor, 8GB or 16GB RAM, 1TB 5400RPM hard disk drive. Samsung claims that RAM and storage in this PC can be upgraded easily.

The soundbar has stereo 10W x2 speakers, and Samsung is bundling a full-sized wireless keyboard with curved keycaps and a wireless mouse. There’s a front-facing webcam that can be used for facial recognition through Windows Hello. All the ports (including an SD card slot) are placed at the back.

Samsung is also bundling SideSync and other similar software that plays nicely with Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The soundbar can also be used to play music from Bluetooth devices even when the PC is turned off. Details regarding the All-In-One PC’s pricing and availability haven’t been made official yet.
