Galaxy J7 December security patch released by T-Mobile

T-Mobile is rolling out a new software update on its network in the United States. The latest firmware release for the Galaxy J7 brings the December security patch. Samsung started rolling out this patch a few weeks ago and T-Mobile has finally dispatched it for the Galaxy J7 on its network. It’s a minor release which keeps the core Android OS at version 6.0.1 Marshmallow but brings additional improvements.

Magenta has now released software version J700TUVU2APK6 for the Galaxy J7. The update features the December security patch as well as domestic data roaming improvements and a fix for IPv4 over LTE international roaming.

Galaxy J7 owners on T-Mobile will soon receive an over-the-air notification informing them that an update is available for their device. Even though it’s a minor update it weighs in at just under 250MB. It may take some time for the update to be available in all regions of the United States as firmware is often rolled out in a phased manner.

Leaked video showcases the new interface that Samsung will ship on its 2017 Tizen-powered Smart TVs

A video has surfaced online allegedly showcasing the new, completely redesigned interface that Samsung will ship on board its 2017 range of Tizen-powered Smart TVs, which are expected to be unveiled at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada next month.

As you can see from the short clip below, the interface appears to be a lot cleaner and smoother than the one found on the firm’s current lineup of SUHD TVs, which is great news for users as they’ll finally be able to navigate between applications without experiencing any lag or perodical freezing.

In addition, Samsung has also introduced a brand new Quick Menu screen to make it easier than ever for customers to access their favorite applications in one place — so they no longer have to scroll through a multitude of different screens to find the Deezer app. They can, instead, pin it to their Quick Menu.

Samsung could introduce ‘Beast mode’ with the Galaxy S8

Samsung has filed a trademark for the term “Beast mode” in the EU, suggesting that this could be a new feature offered with the upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship. There is no word on what this actually brings to the table, but our guess is that it will have something to do with increasing the handset’s performance.

We recently saw in the Nougat beta for the Galaxy S7 that Samsung has added Games and High-Performance modes. A Beast Mode would suggest that the handset would eke out additional performance when users really need it.

The Galaxy S8 will be launched in two variants – one with the octa-core Snapdragon 835 SoC (for key markets like North America), and the other with an unnamed Exynos chipset (for dual-SIM regions like India). However, both chipsets will be produced using the 10nm architecture, which will increase efficiency without compromising the performance.

Rumors also suggest that the Galaxy S8 will come with 8GB of RAM, which could be something to look forward to. There has also been talk of Samsung repositioning the fingerprint scanner to the back panel, which could be a radical change given that Samsung has only used front-facing fingerprint sensors over the past few years. The Galaxy S8 is expected to be unveiled at a dedicated event in New York City sometime in April.
