Galaxy Note 20 teaser image/mockup pops up on Galaxy Store

Samsung may have given us a sneak peek at the Galaxy Note 20 through a Galaxy Store teaser image. Spotted by one of our readers in the Samsung Rewards section, the featured image for the ‘$1 Spot Themes’ category showcases three Galaxy smartphones (as seen above). They include an unreleased model – presumably the Galaxy Note 20 – sandwiched between the Galaxy S10+ and the Galaxy S20. This mysterious device looks quite a bit like the Galaxy Note 10, except it’s missing the Infinity-O display design with a centered selfie punch-hole.

To be fair, the device looks like a mockup and the design isn’t corroborated by recent leaks, which may or may not be accurate after all. But one obvious discrepancy lies in the physical buttons not being located on the right edge of the phone. Samsung is rumored to make this change with the Galaxy Note 20. Then again, nothing is set in stone just yet, so the placement of the physical keys could go either way.

Galaxy Note 20 to have a corner punch-hole or under-display camera?

There’s also the apparent lack of a punch-hole in the display, though it may simply be located in the upper-left corner that remains hidden behind the Galaxy S10+. The question is, would Samsung want to adopt this design change? The Galaxy Note 10 and S20 lineups have centered punch-holes for their Infinity-O screens, and it seems rather unlikely for Samsung to backtrack on this decision and borrow the Galaxy S10 formula for the upcoming S Pen flagship.

Another explanation could be that the Galaxy Note 20, as seen in this teaser/mockup image, has an under-display selfie camera, making the punch-hole unnecessary. Then again, the recent, massive Galaxy Fold 2 leak indicates the technology is not yet ready for the market. For the time being, the Galaxy Note 20’s display seems more likely to follow a traditional Infinity-O design.

At the least, you could say this apparent mockup image is an ‘official’ sneak peek at how under-display camera technology would translate on a future Galaxy flagship device. But whether or not this is the actual Galaxy Note 20 remains in question. Assuming that it is, the device looks very slick – perhaps too slick for it to be real. It seems to have a flatter screen in line with the Galaxy S20 series and even thinner bezels. As for the physical buttons, perhaps they will remain on the left edge of the phone after all, due to S Pen-related reasons. We’ll have to wait and see how close this teaser image is to the real Galaxy Note 20 once the phone gets unveiled in August.

Would you like the Galaxy Note 20 to look like this mysterious device teased by Samsung? What’s your take on this design? Leave a comment below.

Thanks for the tip, Giuseppe!

Daily Deal: 6% off the Galaxy S10 Lite

Although named the Galaxy S10 series, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite has little in common with the rest of the Galaxy S10 range. It comes with tech from other mid-range Galaxy phones released earlier. That doesn’t make this a bad phone. It has a great quality AMOLED display and excellent performance thanks to the Snapdragon 855 processor and 6GB of RAM. It also looks and feels like a premium device. The Galaxy S10 Lite was already competitively priced, but it gets even better with 6% off!

Check out our review to know everything about this smartphone or hit the Buy Now button below to get one while still available.

Samsung finally adds Trash folder to its Voice Recorder app

The newest update to Samsung’s Voice Recorder debuts Trash folder, a feature the company has been gradually adding to its mobile app portfolio since late 2018. It’s part of the build number 21.2.04.12 which appeared on the Galaxy Store earlier today. The update should already be available for download on any contemporary Samsung device running One UI based on Android 9 Pie or later. Much like its name suggests, the Trash option in Voice Recorder is essentially Samsung’s version of Recycle Bin.

It allows users to undo select file deletions by changing the way this universally convenient functionality operates; instead of outright removing files when you tell it to, it schedules them for deletion. More specifically, it moves such recordings to a dedicated folder that eventually purges them from memory, allowing you ample time to restore them.

Don’t forget to enable the Voice Recorder Trash folder

As has been the case with previous iterations of this functionality, Voice Recorder’s Trash folder must be activated manually. You’ll be asked whether you want to do so the next time you attempt deleting a voice recording. If you ever change your mind, simply tap the three-dot icon in the top-right corner and go to Settings, where you’ll be greeted with a new Trash toggle. Likewise, that very same menu also contains the actual Trash folder which automatically deletes any files older than 30 days.

It remains to be seen whether Samsung eventually allows users to modify the duration of that recycling period but that probably won’t be happening in the immediate future. Namely, Voice Recorder’s new feature works exactly like it does in other Samsung apps that support it and has remained unchanged since the company began rolling it out a year and a half ago. Other than Trash support, the latest version of Voice Recorder also expands its tablet support to newer devices, according to the official changelog.

Verizon Galaxy A50 now getting Android 10 with One UI 2 update

Galaxy A50 owners in the USA are in for a treat, as long as they own the model sold by Verizon, as the carrier appears to have fired up the anticipated Android 10 update rollout. According to the changelog shared by a Reddit user, the update intros the newer OS version along with an update user experience, i.e., One UI 2.

Since the Galaxy A50 shipped with Android 9 and One UI 1.1, the new update released by Verizon consists of numerous big changes to the user experience. The UI has been refreshed with text color that changes dynamically according to your lock screen/home screen wallpaper, and introduces new navigation gestures. Smoother UI animations are also par for the course.

Sprint’s Galaxy A50 might follow Verizon’s with its own Android 10 release

Verizon is rolling out the update OTA (over-the-air) so you should be able to download it on your Galaxy A50 in the USA by opening Settings, accessing Software update, and tapping Download and install.

The Galaxy A50 was also released in the USA by Sprint, so we’re assuming that the carrier will follow in Verizon’s footsteps and release its own Android 10 update sooner rather than later. Of course, there’s no guarantee for this to happen, but sit tight and we’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out more.
