Galaxy A02s starts getting the Android 11 update

Samsung has started releasing the Android 11 update to its low-end Galaxy A series smartphone. Earlier today, the Galaxy A12 started getting the Android 11 update with the latest security patch. Now, the Galaxy A02s has started getting the update as well, but it includes one month older security patch.

The Galaxy A02s has started getting the Android 11 update in Russia. The new software update, which bears firmware version A025FXXU2BUDC, also comes embedded with the April 2021 security patch. We don’t have an official changelog for this update, but it should include Android 11 features like chat bubbles, one-time permissions, auto permissions reset, a dedicated conversations section in the notifications area, a dynamic media player widget below quick setting toggles, and easier access to smart home controls.

It should also include One UI 3.1 features like a refreshed UI design, more Dynamic Lockscreen options, more lockscreen widgets, better version of stock Samsung apps like Samsung Internet and Samsung Keyboard. It should also include a better design for the Device Care menu and improved Digital Wellbeing and parental controls. The new update should also bring improved security and privacy to the Galaxy A02s.

If you are a Galaxy A02s user in Russia, you can check for the update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the entire firmware from our firmware database and flash it manually. We also expect this update to be released in more countries over the next few days. The Galaxy A02s was launched six months ago with Android 10 on board.

Galaxy A12 starts getting the Android 11 update

Samsung had launched the Galaxy A12 earlier this year with Android 10 on board. This disappointed fans because the Android version on the phone was more than a year old. Now, the company has rectified its mistake and released the Android 11 update for the device along with the latest security patch.

The Galaxy A12 has started receiving the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 (Core) update in Russia. The new software update, which has firmware version A125FXXU1BUE3, also includes the May 2021 security patch. We don’t have the official changelog yet, but it should bring Android 11 features like one-time permissions, auto permissions reset, chat bubbles, dedicated media player widget below the quick settings toggles, improved security, and better privacy.

It should also include One UI 3.1 features like a refreshed UI design, more lock screen widgets, better versions of Digital Wellbeing and parental controls, easier access to smart home controls, and more Dynamic Lockscreen options. The May 2021 security patch includes fixes from Google for three critical vulnerabilities and 23 fixes from Samsung for vulnerabilities in One UI.

If you are a Galaxy A12 user in Russia, you might have received a notification of the new software update. If you haven’t received it yet, you can check for it manually by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. We expect other countries like India to get this update soon.
