Samsung Z2 availability issues in Indonesia have been addressed

Samsung has gradually been rolling out the Samsung Z2 Tizen smartphone in additional markets across the globe. Just last week the Samsung Z2 was released in Indonesia however customers in the country found it very hard to get their hands on one. Apparently Samsung announced the launch and started running TV ads without first ensuring availability. Customers obviously voiced their complaints which prompted Samsung Indonesia to officially respond to the matter.

Samsung Indonesia has now confirmed that the Samsung Z2 has been distributed to its retail partners across the country. It has also confirmed that the Z2 supports all 4G LTE networks in Indonesia. Customers in the country will only be able to purchase apps from the Tizen store with carrier billing on Telcomsel, those who are on other networks will need a credit card to purchase paid apps. Samsung’s Tizen store recently went live in the country, it hosts more than 6,500 apps with 2,700 made specifically for the Z2. More than 1,600 of those apps have initially been made available for users in Indonesia. The Samsung Z2 costs Rp. 899,000 ($70) and is now available for purchase in Indonesia.

Oculus updates app to fix rapid battery drain on Samsung phones

Samsung’s Gear VR headset is one of the best and cheapest ways to immerse yourself in a virtual reality experience. The company collaborated with Oculus on this VR headset with the Facebook-owned company looking after the software as well. There was an issue with an app update that Oculus pushed out recently for the Gear VR because countless users reported that it inflicted rapid battery drain on their Samsung handsets.

Users took to social media and Reddit to complain about this issue. They said that their phones run really hot even when the Oculus app is closed and that the app is preventing their phones from going to sleep. They say that almost half of the battery is rapidly drained within a couple of hours of use with the Oculus VR app installed and running in the background. The issue was that the app got stuck in an installation loop. It continued to download and install even after the process had already been completed once. This caused the processor to continue running at a high rate which directly impacted battery life.

Oculus has acknowledged the issue and said that a fix has now been sent out. Users just need to update the app once more when they open it to completely get rid of this issue.

Samsung’s Q3 earnings expected to remain stable even after Galaxy Note 7 recall

Now that the dust is settling on the Galaxy Note 7 recall, analysts are coming up with their estimates on how the debacle is going to impact the company’s Q3 earnings. Samsung had a record-breaking Q2 as the Galaxy S7 series proved to be a hit. It wanted to continue that momentum in Q3 with the Galaxy Note 7 but things didn’t turn out the way it would have wanted. Some believe that the Galaxy Note 7 recall is going to cost Samsung as much as $1 billion and will also result in low sales for the new flagship. Industry tracker FnGuide suggests that Samsung will post an operating profit of 7.5 trillion won ($6.79 billion) in Q3 registering a 6 percent decline when compared to 8 trillion won in the previous quarter.

It also expects the company’s total sales to come in at 51 trillion won which will be a slight increase from 50.9 trillion won in the previous quarter. Samsung’s Q3 performance is largely expected to remain stable now as initial fears about the Galaxy Note 7′s post recall performance subside. The handset remains popular in key markets and there’s nothing to suggest that a large number of customers are not going to purchase a new Galaxy Note 7 after safe units are made available.
