Samsung will reportedly stop selling budget smartphones in The Netherlands

According to a new report Samsung has decided that it’s going to stop selling low-end budget smartphones in The Netherlands and focus on the mid-range and high-end segments of the market instead. This is going to be a major strategy shift on Samsung’s part, as far as The Netherlands is concerned, the company has long had a habit of flooding the market with devices aimed at every segment. For it to fine tune its approach shows that Samsung might now be thinking to slowly phase out devices that don’t offer high margins at least in select markets.

The report claims that Samsung’s low-end budget smartphones priced lower than €150 will slowly be phased out from the country’s smartphone market, It’s also claimed that Samsung is making this change because it wants to improve its image as well, make sure that it’s associated more with premium quality high-end and robust mid-range handsets instead of cheap budget devices. Samsung has not yet confirmed or denied the claims of this report so it can’t really be said for sure right now whether or not the company plans on implementing this strategy in some other markets as well.

Here’s how you take a scrolling screenshot on your Galaxy Note 5

If you frequently browse the web on your smartphone or tablet, I’m pretty sure you’ve found yourself in the position of wanting to take a screenshot of the page you’re on, but don’t seem quite able to fit it all into the frame. As a result, you end up rolling off several shots in order to capture the information you require. However, if you own a Galaxy Note 5, Samsung has incorporated a nifty little feature into the software that allows you to take a ‘scrolling screenshot’.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open up the web page you want to take a scrolling screenshot of.
  2. Eject the S Pen and suspend it over the screen to launch Air Command.
  3. Tap ‘Screen Write’ from the mini-menu that will suddenly appear in the right-hand corner of your handset.
  4. The screen will flash to indicate that a standard screenshot has been saved. Now you need to tap the Scroll Capture button in the bottom left-hand corner and hover the pen in the direction you would like the screen to scroll.
  5. You will notice that the screen will blink again. This signifies that an extended screenshot has been saved. If you’d like to scroll down even more, hit the Capture More button. If not, tap the Done button.

Voilà! You have successfully taken a scrolling screenshot on your Galaxy Note 5. If you happen to run into any issues along the way, do be sure to let us know in the comments section below, and we’ll do our very best to get you back on track. It’s worth noting that this feature works with applications too, but sadly it’s not always as accurate as it is when it’s being used on the Internet.

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei wants to be an intern at Samsung

OnePlus is a relatively new kid on the block, the company has only released two handsets up till now but it has been able to create a lot of hype for them through PR stunts. It employs an arduous invite system to sell smartphones which has been criticized at length, OnePlus also botched the release of its latest flagship smartphone, a fact that the company acknowledged and apologized for. It’s safe to say that OnePlus has a lot to learn and the company’s co-founder Carl Pei is looking towards one of the leaders in the mobile industry for wisdom and experience.

In a post on his personal blog OnePlus co-founder and head of global Carl Pei has presented an interesting idea, he wants to be an intern at Samsung. Pei says that it’s an astounding fact that Samsung has been around for over 77 years and has shipped hundreds of millions of phone across the globe, “you can’t help but admire their operations,” he writes. Pointing towards Samsung’s recent less than spectacular quarters and talk of how startups like OnePlus are disrupting the mobile landscape, Pei argues that even though the industry is evolving there’s room of all to compete and learn from each other. “Let me be your intern,” Pei implores Samsung, adding that the would be honored to learn from the team how they have managed to scale, run and manage their business so successfully. He even goes on to propose an intern swap, Pei at Samsung HQ and one of Samsung’s executives over at OnePlus.

Carl Pei wouldn’t be out of place as an intern at Samsung, he’s had stints in marketing over at Nokia, Meizu, Oppo and even served as a director of new markets at Oppo for about nine months before founding OnePlus. Despite its stumbles OnePlus has demonstrated that it has what it takes to compete against the giants in the smartphone market and that it’s not going anywhere anytime soon, but it certainly needs to learn a thing or two from the big boys to take its business to the next level. Whether or not Samsung will agree to this proposal remains to be seen, the company has not yet responded to Pei, at least publicly.

Nexus 6P features an AMOLED panel from Samsung

Samsung has shown time and again that it’s a market leader in display technology, no wonder many other companies seek to source their displays from Samsung and that’s precisely what Huawei has done with its new Nexus handset. Nexus 6P was announced recently, the device is a collaboration between Google and Huawei, and it fixes one of the biggest issues that Nexus 6 owners had.

The Nexus 6′s AMOLED panel wasn’t that great, there was complaints about white balance and color reproduction not being up the mark, so this time around the Nexus team went for the best supplier to source displays for the flagship handset. The Nexus team confirmed in a Q&A session over reddit that the Nexus 6P features a WQHD AMOLED panel from Samsung, moreover the team has spent some time tuning the white-point and color gamut for these panels to ensure that the Nexus faithful no longer complain about the display.
