New leak hints at not-so-crazy Galaxy S11+ rear camera setup

A new leak suggests the Galaxy S11+, the biggest of the three Galaxy S11 models that Samsung will launch next year, will not have a flashy penta-camera setup at the back. Twitter leakster Ice universe has published an image that shows three vertically laid cameras along with speculation that the three camera sensors should be accompanied by an LED flash and a 3D ToF camera.

It’s worth mentioning that a quad camera setup for the Galaxy S11+ makes more sense. While leaked 360-degree renders of the S11+ had shown what looked like five rear cameras arranged in an X pattern, there have been no reports, leaks, or rumors telling us what the fifth camera will do. It’s possible the renders had simply mistaken the two sensors that make up a single ToF camera to be two actual cameras.

ToF cameras have a transmitter module and a receiver module, which is why the Galaxy S10 5G has three holes in the front despite having just dual front cameras – a regular selfie camera and a ToF camera. The Galaxy Note 10+ has five camera sensors at the back as well, with two of them belonging to the ToF camera, and it’s likely the Galaxy S11+ (and the regular Galaxy S11) will have the same number of cameras.

While the number of cameras might not change, the Galaxy S11 will bring a substantial upgrade in the camera specs. The primary rear camera is expected to be a 108MP lens and the telephoto camera is expected to be capable of 5x zoom. The former is said to be a special sensor Samsung is designing exclusively for the Galaxy S11 series, and that sensor will also be seen on the Galaxy Fold 2 alongside the 5x telephoto camera.

Galaxy S10 Android 10 update out in the United States and Canada

It has been a couple of weeks since the Galaxy S10 Android 10 update was released. Users in North America generally have to wait a bit longer before they get it. The wait hasn’t been super long for them this time around.

Samsung has now started rolling out the Galaxy S10 Android 10 update in the United States and Canada. Several of the top carriers in the aforementioned countries have now sent out the update for the Galaxy S10 series on their networks.

Galaxy S10 Android 10 update out in North America

T-Mobile and Sprint have released the update for the Galaxy S10 in the United States while the Galaxy S10 Android 10 update is out on most carriers in Canada. The firwmare version being sent out is G97**SQU2CSKP. It’s only a matter of time before the remaining carriers in the United States send out the update as well. We also have the Android 10 firmware files for the North American variant of the Galaxy S10 series available in our firmware database.

Samsung also sent out the stable Android 10 update for the Galaxy Note 10 today. It’s out now for everyone but the update is currently available in Germany only. The company will soon be rolling out this update to other countries as well. Users in the United States and Canada should expect to wait for this update as well, but if the Galaxy S10 release is any indication, it shouldn’t be more than a couple of weeks.

Galaxy Note 10 Android 10 stable update available for those on Android Pie

As expected, Samsung has now started rolling out the stable Android 10 update for Galaxy Note 10 owners running Android Pie on their devices, following a release of the stable update for One UI 2.0 beta participants. The Android 10 update is rolling out for those on Android Pie in Germany at this time and should soon make it to other markets. We’ll have a list up shortly to help you find out if the update has been released in your country.

If you’re using a Galaxy Note 10 or Galaxy Note 10+ in Germany, you should be able to download the update over the air by opening the Settings app on your phone, selecting Software update, then selecting Download and install. The Android 10 firmware is also available from our firmware archive, which you can use to upgrade to the latest version of Android using a Windows computer. Don’t forget to backup your important data before you make the jump to Android 10, because even though this is a stable update, it’s best to take precaution.

How to customize Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Fold side key

The side key (a.k.a. power button) on the Galaxy Note 10 series and Galaxy Fold offers a few customization options. Users can set this physical button to react in different ways to both long presses and double presses.

The feature is, in fact, available on all Galaxy phones that shipped with One UI 1.5 out of the box. If you happen to own one, you can follow this walkthrough to find out how you can customize the side key on your device with ease.

Setting up Galaxy Note 10 / Galaxy Fold side key

First, open Settings and access Advanced Features. This is the same menu where you can find Bixby Routines, Motions and Gestures, and other One UI features we’ve covered previously. Once in Advanced Features, tap Side key.

Choosing a function for double-pressing the side key

Side key is split between two main functions, namely Double press, and Press and hold. You can choose between quick launching the Camera app, launching Bixby, or opening a custom app when double-pressing the side key. Tap the cogwheel icon to select an app. Alternatively, you can tap the toggle and turn off the double-press function altogether.

NOTE: Double-pressing the side key to quick-launch the Camera works even if your phone is locked, unlike Open Bixby and Open app, both of which require you to unlock your phone before you can use them.

Choosing a function for long-pressing the side key

As for pressing and holding the side key, you can choose between waking up Bixby or summoning the classic power off menu. Normally, Galaxy devices running One UI 1.5 have the power off and restart options hidden behind the small power icon inside the quick toggle area, but you can revert to a more conventional setup as long as you’re willing to give up on the Wake Bixby feature. And we suspect that many users won’t have an issue with that.
