Leaked Galaxy Z Flip 3 spec sheet leaves little to the imagination

Much like the premium Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 has also been at the heart of several leaks of late. We got to see the entire Galaxy Z Fold 3 spec sheet earlier, and now, it is the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s turn. The information comes from WinFuture, a reputable source, so we can rest easy knowing that its contents are accurate.

Galaxy Z Flip 3 specifications are now out in the wild

Much like its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will offer two screens- a primary 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel clocked at 120Hz and a smaller 1.9-inch (512 x  260) secondary display at the back. The back will be protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Additionally, one can open and close the Galaxy Z Flip 3 about 200,000 times, which roughly translates to five years of usage before failure, same as the original Galaxy Z Flip.

Moving on to the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s innards, we get a beefy Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset along with 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage. This was pretty much confirmed by a Geekbench listing from earlier. Lastly, the smartphone will draw power from a paltry 3,300mAh battery that supports wireless charging and fast wired charging. The latter’s exact wattage is unknown, but we’re probably looking at a maximum limit of 25W, or even 15W, according to one report.

Optics on the Galaxy Z Flip 3 consist of one 12MP primary sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. A 10MP sensor will handle selfies and video calls, the report adds. 8K video recording is possible, too, apparently, but that is likely an error, as it is physically impossible for a 12MP sensor to pull it off. The only way that’s happening is if Samsung uses some AI-driven sorcery to make a 4K video look like 8K.

Other Galaxy Z Flip 3 features include 5G, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC. Interestingly enough, Wi-Fi support is limited to 802.11 ac only (no Wi-Fi 6), which is quite puzzling, given that the Snapdragon 888 supports it. Samsung has also thrown in a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. Oh, and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will have an IP rating as well.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip India pre-bookings are now live

Galaxy Unpacked will be upon us in five days (August 11), and Samsung is already prepping its marketplaces for buyers interested in its high-end foldables. A leak from earlier showed us the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in its entirety.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 has been leaked extensively, too. Not too long ago, we also figured out how much the foldables would cost in India. If it piques your interest, you can now reserve your pre-booking on the official Samsung Shop App.

Customers in India can now pre-book Samsung’s new foldables

As shown in the images below, one needs to pay Rs 2,000 ($28) to get a ‘VIP Pass’ that gets deducted from the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s price. Additionally, you also get a free Galaxy Smart Tag worth Rs 2,699 ($36) for free. However, you will have to complete your Galaxy Z Fold 3 purchase to get the free object tracker. Samsung also promises a 100% refund in the case of cancellation.

We’re not quite sure just how far a Rs 2,000 (Rs 4,699 if you add the Galaxy Smart Tag’s cost) will go towards persuading anyone to buy a Galaxy Z Fold 3 in India. The foldable is expected to be prohibitively expensive (INR 1,35,000 ($1,820), according to one source). At that level, Rs 4,699 ($63) is a little more than a drop in the bucket. Besides, the aforementioned price doesn’t even include the upgraded S Pen.

The ‘discount’ also fails to make a dent in the more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 3’s asking price, which is rumoured to be around Rs 90,000 ($1,212). Somehow, the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s predecessor sold surprisingly well in the otherwise price-sensitive Indian market. Unfortunately, we can’t say the same about the Galaxy Z Flip.

On the other hand, Samsung is offering 12 months of free Samsung Care+ with Galaxy Z Fold 3 pre-orders in the US, along with a host of yet-to-be-revealed goodies.

Galaxy Chromebook Go LTE now available from AT&T

A recent survey revealed that Samsung has a lot of catching up to do in the Chromebook market, as proven by its somewhat abysmal market share. Nonetheless, the Galaxy Chromebook Go is one of the better low-cost offerings out there.

Samsung stealthily unveiled it a few weeks ago without telling much about its availability. Users based in the United States can now get their hands on the Galaxy Chromebook Go LTE variant via AT&T.

Galaxy Chromebook Go LTE offers great specs for the price

A listing on AT&T’s official website lets you pick one up for $349.99. If you want to pay monthly, it’ll set you back by $4.86/month for 36 months, which sums up to $174.9. However, you’ll need to purchase a new telephone line, and the discount will be offered as in-store credit on your monthly bill. Do note that the promotion is only valid for the Galaxy Chromebook Go 32GB storage variant.

For those out of the loop, the Galaxy Chromebook Go features a 14-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. Under the hood, there’s a dual-core Intel Jasper Lake Celeron N4500 processor based on the new 10nm node. One can couple it with up to 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of eMMC storage. A micro SD card slot allows users to add more storage if needed.

As its name suggests, the Galaxy Chromebook Go runs Chrome OS out of the box. Input options on the laptop are quite plentiful, at least for a Chromebook, and include a USB Type-A port, two USB Type-C ports, a 3.5mm combo audio jack, and in case of this particular variant, a SIM card slot. Lastly, the Galaxy Chromebook Go’s 43Wh battery can be charged at 45W over a USB C.

Not to be left behind, the Galaxy A32 is now getting the August security update

The August 2021 security patch is now rolling out for another Galaxy-A branded phone, namely the Galaxy A32. Similar to the Galaxy A72, the A32 is getting the latest security patch in Russia, but other markets should join the party soon.

For the time being, Galaxy A32 owners in Russia can acquire the August 2021 security patch by downloading and installing the latest update identified by firmware number A325FXXU1AUH1. The firmware number indicates that the August 2021 security patch should be accompanied by extra features, but details are missing.

The August 2021 security patch alone fixes 38 vulnerabilities that affect Android OS, and a couple of additional issues found within Samsung’s own software.

Galaxy A32 users in Russia should receive an update notification at any moment. They can tap that notification to download the latest update, or, if the notification doesn’t show up, they can attempt to trigger it from the Settings app on the phone by navigating to Software update and tapping Download and install.

If you want to skip waiting for the update to arrive, you can download it from our firmware database and install it on your phone manually using a PC. Just make sure you grab the right update for your particular phone and model number.

Thanks for the tip,Amin!

Another Galaxy Z Fold 3 leak bares it all, much to Samsung’s dismay

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 has been extensively leaked in the weeks leading up to its launch. We already have a good idea about its design, price (in Europe and India), and a load of other details. Renowned leaker Ronald Quandt has, once again, cooked Samsung’s goose by spoiling everything about its upcoming foldable.

New leak reveals the Galaxy Z Fold 3 spec sheet in its entirety

Many of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 specifications outlined in the leak were nearly public knowledge. Nonetheless, it validates the legitimacy of said information and the people who leaked it. Starting with the outer screen, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will feature a 7.6-inch 2,208 x 1,768 foldable AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The secondary 6.2-inch AMOLED screen will share the same refresh rate and has a resolution of 2,260 x 832 pixels.

Samsung claims that the screen is good for up to 200,000 folds; a claim which can only be verified once the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is out and about. Quandt insists that the foldable screen will be protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus; however, we don’t think that’s the case as Samsung will very likely stick to UTG (ultra-thin glass).

Moving on to the heart of the Galaxy Z Fold 3, we get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC along with 12GB of RAM, coupled with 256/512GB of storage. We already knew about this quite some time ago, thanks to a report that told us that the foldable would be skipping the Snapdragon 888+ for its predecessor. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 also continues the Galaxy S21 series’ annoying legacy by skipping the micro SD expansion option.

On the topic of optics, the Galaxy Z Fold 3, for the most part, reuse its predecessor’s 12MP + 12MP + 12MP camera layout. There is a slight upgrade, though, as the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s ultra-wide-angle lens will support PDAF (phase detection autofocus). It also says that the cameras will be able to record videos at 8K, something that isn’t possible with a 12MP sensor.

Then again, the Galaxy Z Fold 3’a magnum opus is its under-display selfie camera, which will use a paltry 4MP sensor. The cover display’s selfie camera will be slightly better off with its 10MP module. The smartphone will ship with a 4,400mAh battery that can also be charged wirelessly. Connectivity options will include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and 5G. Lastly, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will run One UI 3.1 out of the box.

These specs more or less align with what we already know about the phone. At this point, we have no choice but to wait for Samsung’s grand reveal of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 at Galaxy Unpacked on August 11.

Galaxy A52s is going to miss out on that one upgrade you would have loved

The Galaxy A52 is a brilliant mid-range smartphone that offers some high-end features which are usually not seen on other mid-range devices. Last month, it was revealed that Samsung is working on a souped-up version of the Galaxy A52 with a faster processor, and some consumers were expecting that it would also come with a better camera setup. However, it looks like that’s not happening.

According to GalaxyClub, the Galaxy A52s will feature the same camera setup as the Galaxy A52. It means that the phone has a 64MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 5MP depth sensor, and a 5MP macro camera. People were expecting that it might come with a dedicated telephoto camera, similar to the Galaxy A72, but it doesn’t. The smartphone also features a 32MP front-facing camera. The device should be capable of recording 4K 30fps videos using both front and rear cameras.

Previous leaks have revealed that the Galaxy A52s has a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with a high refresh rate. It is equipped with the Snapdragon 778G processor, 6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot. The phone features stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint reader, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It will come with Android 11 out of the box, but the exact One UI version isn’t known yet.

Other features that we can expect on the Galaxy A52s include 5G, a dual-SIM card slot, Wi-Fi a/g/b/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a headphone jack. The upcoming smartphone could be powered by a 4,500mAh battery and support for 25W fast charging. The device will be launched in Europe and South Korea. It could be priced at €449 in European markets.

Samsung’s high-end Android tablets could soon be under threat

For customers across the globe, Samsung is the only option if they want to get the best Android tablets. Even though at one point there were many competitors in the flagship Android tablet market, there aren’t that many anymore.

However, it appears that a new challenger is being prepared to take on Samsung’s high-end tablets. It could arrive later this year even before Samsung launch its Galaxy Tab S8 series of new tablets.

New challengers seek to take on Samsung’s high-end Android tablets

Lenovo has a new high-end Android tablet in the works called the Tab P12 Pro. The Google Play Console listing for the device reveals that it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with at least 8GB of RAM. That’s a considerable improvement over its predecessor that had the Snapdragon 730G chipset. The device is also going to have an OLED display and run Android 11.

It’s important to note here that even though Samsung is the top Android tablet vendor, Lenovo is actually the fastest-growing tablet OEM. Even in first place, Samsung’s tablet shipments in Q2 2021 showed an 18% growth compared to the same period last year. Lenovo came in second but it saw a 67% increase in shipments compared to Q2 2020.

The Galaxy Tab S8 series will be the next high-end tablets that we get from Samsung. It’s expected that they may arrive early next year. According to a leak, they’ll use the “fastest next-gen” processor, likely called the Snapdragon 895 or 898. The series will include a truly bonkers Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra model with a massive 14.6-inch 120Hz OLED panel and a 12,000mAh battery.

Lenovo might be getting more serious about competing in this market now but Samsung isn’t going to give up its lead that easy. Healthy competition only benefits consumers so we’re all for it.

Google’s Tensor SoC is actually this secret Samsung Exynos chip

Google recently announced the new Tensor SoC that will power its upcoming Pixel smartphones. This is the first high-end mobile processor that the company has designed for use in its own smartphones. Google Pixel phones previously relied on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors.

The company hasn’t revealed a lot of information about the Tensor SoC at this point in time. It has been hyping up the artificial intelligence of this chip, creating an impression that Tensor will be in a league on its own. Be that is it may, some new information has surfaced which suggests that Tensor is actually a previously rumored Samsung Exynos chip.

Tensor may have a lot in common with the Galaxy S21’s chipset

There have already been reports over the past few months that Google has co-developed its mobile processor with Samsung. While it hasn’t confirmed the technical details about the CPU, GPU and 5G modem, it’s likely that there’s going to be a greater level of involvement from Samsung. Reports also indicate that it’s Samsung that’s producing Tensor on its 5nm LPE fabrication process.

It was first reported last year that Samsung is working on two new high-end Exynos chipsets one of which features an AMD GPU – the Exynos 9855 and Exynos 9925. GalaxyClub reports that the Exynos 9855 has the codename Whitechapel which has already been associated with Tensor. Google’s Tensor SoC is thus the unreleased Exynos 9855.

So where does the Exynos 9855 fit in the grand scheme of things? The Galaxy S21’s Exynos 2100 had Exynos 9840 as its internal model number. The Exynos 9925 will feature AMD graphics and will debut as the Exynos 2200 with the Galaxy S22 series next year. Going by the model numbers, Tensor is going to much closer in performance to the Galaxy S21’s Exynos 2100 compared to Samsung’s flagship chipset for next year.

This goes to show that Tensor will deliver flagship-level performance. That coupled with the AI advancement that Google is hyping up could end up increasing competition in the high-end Android smartphone segment. Nothing that the best Samsung phones can’t handle.

Samsung to retain total control of the foldable smartphone market in 2021

Samsung is the only major smartphone manufacturer that’s shipping foldable smartphones at scale across the globe. This has provided the company with an incredible first-mover advantage. No other company is in the position of challenging it right now.

This has enabled Samsung to establish total domination over the global foldable smartphone market. So it doesn’t come as a surprise to hear that its control over the market will remain firm in 2021.

Samsung is the one to beat in the foldable market

The latest data from Counterpoint Research shows that Samsung is likely going to clinch an 88 percent market share for foldables. The size of the market is expected to triple from a year earlier to around 9 million units. Samsung is expected to account for 88 percent of the market.

It obviously doesn’t hurt that there’s no other company that can match Samsung’s progress in foldables. Samsung is going to unveil two new foldable smartphones at its August 11 event. They’re expected to bring major improvements while also costing less than their predecessors.

This will enable the company to sell a lot more foldable smartphones. This early dominance will help Samsung down the line as well. It’s expected that the foldable market will be 10 times bigger in 2023 than it was in 2020.

Samsung is predicted to be the top player at that with a 75 percent market share even if other manufacturers like Apple seriously start competing as well.
