Galaxy A72 is bringing stereo speakers to Samsung’s mid-range phones

Features from Samsung’s flagship phones often trickle down to the company’s mid-range offerings, but with the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72, Samsung is bringing a boatload of flagship-grade features to the mid-range segment all at once. The Galaxy A72 in particular is shaping up to be quite impressive, what with a high refresh rate screen, IP67 water resistance, a main camera with optical image stabilization, and a 3x optical zoom camera rumored to be part of the package.

Well, those rumors have been confirmed by the latest leak, and it has also been revealed that the Galaxy A72 will have stereo speakers! Unlike a zoom camera or optical image stabilization, stereo speakers have never been seen on a Galaxy A series phone before, so this is a major development. Even Galaxy A71 owners will have plenty of reasons to upgrade to a Galaxy A72, as this is one of the biggest year-on-year upgrades for an A series phone in the lineup’s history.

30x Space Zoom is also coming to Samsung’s mid-rangers

The latest leak reveals a few more interesting features, such as 30x Space Zoom capability and integration of a wide variety of Snapchat effects into the native Camera app. We also get to see all of the phone’s important specs: There’s a 6.7-inch Infinity-O FHD+ Super AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 720G processor, 6+128GB and 8+256GB memory configurations, 64MP+12MP+8MP+5MP main, ultra-wide, zoom, and macro cameras, a 32MP front-facing camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 25W super fast charging.

The Galaxy A72 is likely to run Android 11 with One UI 3.1 out of the box, same as the Galaxy S21 and other recent Galaxy phones. The A72 is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy A52 and A52 5G sometime this month, and while a concrete date isn’t known, the sharp increase in the intensity of leaks these past few days suggests we won’t have to wait too long for the official launch.

BREAKING: Galaxy A52 caught on camera, water resistance confirmed

The Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A51 are two of Samsung’s most successful mid-range phones ever, so it isn’t surprising that the launch of the Galaxy A52 has quite a few people excited. Renders of the phone have already given us a look at its design, and its spec sheet has more or less been fully revealed by leaks in the past couple of months. And now, ahead of its official launch, an actual Galaxy A52 has been caught on camera.

Twitter user Ahmed Qwaider has shared multiple new images showing off the Galaxy A52 from the front and back alongside its packaging. We have to say the phone looks quite good thanks to that matte finish on the back; Samsung seems to be going for an understated design this time around, as evidenced by the lack of any sort of lines running across the back. However, nothing seems to have changed at the front, which is to be expected considering that side is covered almost entirely by the display on virtually every smartphone these days.

Water resistance confirmed for the Galaxy A52

Of course, that doesn’t mean the display won’t be better than the one on the Galaxy A51. The Galaxy A52 will support a 90Hz refresh rate (120Hz on the 5G model) for smoother animations, scrolling, and gaming, which should make for a whole world of difference in the viewing experience. Well, at least as long as the Snapdragon 720G that’s going to power the phone is able to keep up. On paper, the Snapdragon 720G is capable enough, but we are going to be a bit skeptical until we have seen the A52 in action.

The photos shared on Twitter also confirm that the Galaxy A52 is water and dust resistant thanks to IP67 certification and has a 64MP main camera. In addition to water and dust resistance, the Galaxy A52 will be bringing back another feature that went missing from Samsung’s mid-range devices a couple of years ago: optical image stabilization. Thankfully, rumors suggest all these features won’t result in a higher price tag – the Galaxy A52 is expected to launch for €369 in Europe, same as the Galaxy A51 did back in late 2019.
