Exclusive: Galaxy Tab S4 and Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2018) will be available in Black and Gray color options

We have reported extensively in the last few weeks about the various leaks surrounding the alleged Galaxy Tab S4 and Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2018). Though we don’t know if Samsung will use these exact names for the upcoming tablets, the model numbers SM-T595 and SM-T835 spotted in these leaks does make them look like the Galaxy Tab S4 and Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2018) based on Samsung’s previous model numbers and naming patterns.

No fancy color options

Benchmarks and certifications have already revealed some basic information about these devices. While we wait for more exhaustive leaks about the specifications and features, we have some exclusive news to share about these two devices. According to our sources, both the alleged Galaxy Tab S4 and Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2018) will be available in Black and Grey color options at launch.

Our sources also tell us that these tablets will launch sometime in July or August. If the launch doesn’t happen in July, then there is a strong possibility that these devices will make an appearance at the Galaxy Note 9 Unpacked event. Though Samsung hasn’t officially announced the Galaxy Note 9 launch date yet, a report from Korea is betting on August 9.

Samsung launches the Galaxy S9+ Sunrise Gold Edition in India

Samsung has the habit of releasing new color options months after the device launch to keep the sales momentum going. Last year, the company released the Burgundy Red Galaxy S8 in select markets many months after the launch of the Galaxy S8/S8+. Samsung is doing the same thing this year by launching the Burgundy Red and Sunrise Gold color options for the Galaxy S9/S9+.

When Samsung unveiled the new color options last month, it said the Sunrise Gold Color variant would be available in select markets from June. In a press release today, the company has announced the availability of the Galaxy S9+ Sunrise Gold Edition in India. There is no mention of the Galaxy S9 in the announcement, so it appears the new color option is limited to the Galaxy S9+ in India. This is the first device from the company to feature a satin gloss finish which, according to Samsung, “wraps the smartphone in an elegant glow and glimmer.”

A limited-edition device

The Korean company says the Sunrise Gold option is a limited-edition device and will be available only in the 128 GB memory variant. The device will be on sale in select retail stores across the country starting June 20, and online pre-booking begins on June 15 on Samsung website and Flipkart. The Sunrise Gold Edition is priced at INR 68,900 ($1,015) and comes with a special one-time screen replacement offer and INR 9000 ($132) cashback when purchased on Paytm mall or through ICICI credit cards.

“Our consumers are looking to express their style and personality through technology and color plays a big part in that personalization. The Sunrise Gold edition of Galaxy S9+ extends the color offerings of Galaxy S9+ with vibrant styles that embrace a modern and classic feel,” said Aditya Babbar, General Manager, Samsung India.

Samsung’s Good Lock app is back again and it looks great

During the Android Marshmallow days, Samsung released a powerful UI customization app called Good Lock. The unexpected app from Samsung was a big hit among the Android enthusiasts as it allowed them to change many parts of the Samsung Android UI to their liking. The developer team behind the app was very responsive to customer feedback and kept improving the app immensely based on all the suggestions and complaints.

Unfortunately, the app was no longer available after the release of the Android Nougat update. There were promises from the team that the app will be back but nothing materialized so far. Thankfully, it appears Samsung has finally released a new version of the Good Lock app. Well-known Chinese leaker, Ice Universe, has tweeted screenshots of the Good Lock 2018 app and they look great. Just like the original app, even the new version seems to offer deep customization options to change many parts of the Samsung’s Android UI.

Currently available only in Korea

The app is apparently available only in South Korea as of now but may roll out to more countries soon. Since this is Android we are talking about, it should probably be possible to install the app outside the supported regions by just installing the required APKs. We will update this post with more information once we get our hands on the new app.
