Fitness videos have been removed from the Samsung Health app

Samsung appears to have removed the Fitness section from the Samsung Health app on smartphones. This section featured various fitness and workout-related videos and training programs from popular creators like 300FIT, BlessLife, BodyBuilding.com, Echelon, Keep, and Skimble. These videos also appear on the Samsung Health app on the company’s smart TVs.

This change appears to have been made in South Korea right now, and Samsung Health users appear puzzled over the removal of fitness videos. When a user enquired about this change in the Samsung Members forum, an official forum moderator confirmed that the Fitness videos section has been removed but didn’t offer a reason for the change. Last year, Samsung had also removed caffeine, food, and weight tracking from its app.

The moderator recommended users to follow 300FIT and BlessLife’s videos on their respective YouTube channels instead. We can still see the Fitness section on the Samsung Health app (version 6.19.6.009) on our smartphones, though, so not all markets may have received this change.

The South Korean tech giant has been improving Samsung Health over the years by adding new features every year. However, the removal of fitness videos from the app without any explanation behind the move has puzzled a lot of users.

Do you watch fitness videos on the Samsung Health app? And can you still see those videos on your smartphone? Let us know in the comments section below.

Will Samsung launch a smartphone with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 flagship chipset?

MediaTek, which was once considered a second-grade chipset maker, has now become the market leader. It sold more smartphone chipsets than Qualcomm last year. Yesterday, the company released its newest flagship smartphone processor, the Dimensity 9000. It is the world’s first 4nm mobile chipset, and it looks like Samsung is interested in it.

According to tipster @UniverseIce, the first batch of Dimensity 9000 processors will be sent to all the popular Android smartphone OEMs, including Samsung. It means that the South Korean company will test the flagship chipset, and if it is impressed with its performance and power efficiency, we could see it in a high-end Galaxy smartphone or tablet. Since it has already been confirmed that the Galaxy S22 series uses the Exynos 2200 and the Snapdragon 898 processor, Samsung might use the Dimensity 9000 in a high-end device in the second half of the year.

Since TSMC’s 4nm process is reportedly more efficient than Samsung’s 4nm EUV fabrication process, it is possible that the Dimensity 9000 can go head-to-head or even outperform the upcoming flagship chipsets from Qualcomm and Samsung.

MediaTek Dimensity 9000 specs

Going by the Dimensity 9000’s specifications, it appears to be an absolute monster of a chipset. The world’s smartphone chipset features a 4nm process (TSMC) and ARM’s newest CPU and GPU cores. It has one Cortex-X2 CPU core clocked at 3.05GHz, three Cortex-A710 CPU cores clocked at 2.85GHz, and four Cortex-A510 CPU cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

The chipset also uses ARM’s Mali-G710 GPU with ten cores clocked at 850MHz. This GPU uses an entirely new architecture and supports ray-tracing as well. MediaTek claims that the Dimensity 9000’s GPU performs similar to the Apple A15 Bionic even under sustained load. The processor features a quad-channel LPDDR5X memory controller and 6MB of system cache.

MediaTek Dimensity 9000 CPU MediaTek Dimensity 9000 GPU

The Dimensity 9000’s Imagiq790 ISP has three cores for a combined processing speed of 9 gigapixels per second. It can either support a 320MP single camera sensor or three 32MP cameras simultaneously. Its media encode/decode engine supports 4K 120fps and 8K 30fps video recording and up to 8K 60fps video playback. It even supports the latest AV1 video codec. It has a hexa-core APU for AI acceleration.

It supports up to QHD+ displays with a 144Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ displays with a 180Hz refresh rate. In terms of connectivity, the Dimensity 9000 features an integrated 5G modem with support for mmWave and sub-6GHz networks. It can reach a maximum of 7Gbps download speeds. It also features Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 (with LE Audio).

Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra’s display notch exists for an important reason

The Galaxy Tab S8 series will go official sometime next year. Samsung could release three variants of its upcoming high-end tablet: Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is expected to feature a giant 14.6-inch Super AMOLED display with a notch. Unlike the recently-released MacBook Pro, though, the display notch on the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra has an important reason to exist.

According to reliable tipster @UniverseIce, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra features a small notch to accommodate two high-end front-facing cameras. Apparently, one of them is an ultrawide-angle camera. Both front-facing cameras on the upcoming flagship tablet will reportedly offer up to 4K 60fps video recording, perfect for ultra-sharp video calls. It would be great if Samsung could also fit in an autofocus mechanism, similar to some of its high-end smartphones.

In comparison, the Galaxy Tab S7 and the Galaxy Tab S7+ feature an 8MP selfie camera with 1080p 30fps video recording. With e-learning and work-from-home becoming the norm, high-quality front-facing cameras could pave the way for smoother and sharper video calls.

The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is expected to feature a 14.6-inch Super AMOLED display with a 3K display, a 120Hz refresh rate, thin bezels, and S Pen compatibility. It could feature the Exynos 2200 processor, 8GB/12GB RAM, and 128GB/512GB internal storage. The device could have come in Wi-Fi-only and 5G variants. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will reportedly come powered by an 11,500mAh battery and 45W fast charging.

Eager for One UI 4.0 on the Galaxy S20? Come check our hands-on video

We left the Galaxy S21 One UI 4.0 beta program behind on Monday after Samsung began rolling out the first public firmware build, but testing of Android 12 for other devices is far from over. Samsung has now turned its attention towards the One UI 4.0 beta program for the Galaxy S20 series, which went live in the United States today, and it’s time for us to do the same for a new episode at SamMobile TV.

Long story short, One UI 4.0 on the Galaxy S20 is very similar to the beta firmware for the Galaxy S21. Beta testers get access to similar features, such as the new color options for the UI, better privacy and app permissions, and of course, the new home screen widgets and widgets screen. Other improvements were applied to the lock screen, the camera UI, and various other Samsung apps, from Gallery to AR Emoji. Check our video below for a preview of all of these features and more.

When will Android 12 and One UI 4.0 for the Galaxy S20 be ready for the public?

According to the official tentative roadmaps Samsung’s been sharing through the Members app lately, the Galaxy S20 could exit the beta stages and receive the first public One UI 4.0 firmware version in January at the latest. Some markets might be getting it sooner than that, others later, but we’ll have to wait and see. However, Samsung is aiming for a January release in most regions, so you might be rocking One UI 4.0 on the Galaxy S20 shortly after New Year’s.

Until then, you can join the One UI 4.0 beta program for the Galaxy S20 series — where available — through the Samsung Members app, assuming you are willing to risk some bugs along the way. If not, you can check our hands-on video below for a closer look at the One UI 4.0 beta firmware for the Galaxy S20, and stay tuned with SamMobile TV for more news and previews on future firmware updates and Galaxy devices.

Samsung now offers same-day delivery for USA customers via Best Buy

Samsung is making it faster for online store customers in the USA to pick up their orders on the same day with a new “Get It Today” option. The company is collaborating with Best Buy for the endeavor, which means customers who buy from Samsung’s online shop can now choose to pick up the order on the same day from the nearest Best Buy.

The new delivery option is available for select Samsung products that happen to be in Best Buy’s stock, which makes it possible for orders to be fulfilled on the same day. The difference between buying directly from Best Buy and Samsung’s online shop is that the latter often offers discounts and various other offers on Galaxy devices, no to mention the constant trade-in deals.

Samsung does have its own same-day delivery service that doesn’t require customers to leave the house; however, the service is available only in a couple of select areas in the USA, including Dallas and New York City. Of course, outside these two cities in the USA, customers can always place an order online and wait for the product to be shipped to their doorstep by Samsung, but this isn’t a one-day process.

Samsung and Best Buy are now making same-day deliveries possible for more customers in the USA, with the caveat that the customers have to pick up their orders from the local Best Buy. It remains to be seen if Samsung will expand upon this concept and collaborate with other retail partners for same-day in-store delivery.

Somebody help me I can’t stop folding every phone I hold

Some of us are old enough to have witnessed the advancement in mobile phone technology before our eyes. I remember when mobile phones had retractable antennas and they looked and weighed like actual bricks. I also remember the times when it felt like a phone without a physical keyboard would be useless.

A lot has happened in just two decades or so. Flip phones were all the rage at one point. There was a time when everyone seemed to be making a stylus-equipped phone. That trend faded eventually but was quickly replaced by a number of other quirky trends.

A lot of big names of the industry have since disappeared. BlackBerry was once the dominant player but it couldn’t keep up with the times. Motorola’s ownership changed a few times until nobody cared about it anymore. Nokia fell on its own sword. Sony scaled back its ambitions and recently LG gave up on the phone business entirely.

Samsung is among the few companies that haven’t just navigated the changing times but adapted to them beautifully. It has also helped push the industry forward. Samsung’s adoption of large screens gave others a reason to go down the same road.

It’s also the only company that has made the stylus its own. If you think of a modern smartphone equipped with a stylus, you automatically think of the Galaxy Note series. The company is now expanding the stylus support to other smartphones.

Samsung didn’t reinvent the wheel with the Galaxy Note series. It just perfectly adapted what was basically a relic of the past into a powerful productivity tool. Samsung nailed the engineering, design and marketing to make people realize that they could still use a phone with a stylus.

So when Samsung brought back another relic of the past, it was no surprise that the company executed that to perfection. The original Galaxy Z Flip reimagined how a flip phone could function as a modern day smartphone. It brilliantly mixed nostalgia with advanced technologies to create a device that immediately captured the world’s attention.

The execution is really what matters. Motorola tried to do something similar with its Moto Razr 5G foldable flip phone. As many of you will remember, the Moto Razr flip phones were extremely popular back in the day. They were stylish fashion statements meant to be seen with. However, nostalgia alone wasn’t enough. The Razr 5G had glaring shortcomings that couldn’t be glossed over by memories of the past.

Samsung’s brilliant execution of the Galaxy Z Flip was instantly appreciated. This is the device that made it clear to everyone that Samsung was fully committed to this form factor. It also showed the world that the company was willing to push the boundaries to once again push the mobile industry forward.

Fast forward to 2021 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is in a completely different league. It’s much more refined than the original Galaxy Z Flip with more durability, functionality and power. Yet, there’s still that hint of nostalgia, that feeling of satisfaction when you slam the phone shut after a call, just like we used to do in the good old days.

I fell in love with the Galaxy Z Flip the moment I laid my hands on it for the very first time. I mentioned in my Galaxy Z Flip review that the biggest compliment you could give to the Galaxy Z Flip is just how normal it feels. Everything from the design to the build quality to the hinge’s surprising robustness gave you the confidence that you could use it as a normal phone, even though it folded in half.

The feeling of normalcy has been taken to the next level with the Galaxy Z Flip 3. It happens to be water resistant. So splashes of water on the surface or using it when it’s drizzling outside aren’t a bother anymore. The hinge is even more robust and the display panel more durable.

Using the phone feels more natural than ever before. I open and close it dozens of times a day without giving the fact that this is a smartphone that folds any thought. This has become such a habit that I often find myself absentmindedly trying to fold phones that can’t be folded. It’s always an amusing sight for the people around me!

I think more than anything, this is a testament to Samsung’s engineering prowess. In just two generations of a reincarnated flip phone, the company has made users like me forget that there exist phones that you can’t fold in half and be on your merry way. That’s an incredible achievement and it also bodes well for the future of foldable smartphones.

Like some of my colleagues here, I am now a convert. I can’t imagine not using a foldable phone. My preference still remains with the Flip series, but the more I use the Fold lineup the more I become drawn to its obvious benefits as well.

It goes without saying that Samsung will launch successors to its two foldable smartphones in 2022. Many Samsung fans will be looking forward to what it has in store. I count myself among them. Phones that don’t fold are so 2018, after all.

Galaxy Watch 4 and Buds 2 Wooyoungmi Editions are officially available

Samsung has just released new limited-edition Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Buds 2 models in collaboration with Wooyoungmi Paris. Technically, the new limited-edition wearables are a part of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 Wooyoungmi collection released last month, even if they’re only now making their debut in South Korea.

The Galaxy Watch 4 and Buds 2 Wooyoungmi Edition models will be available in South Korea from November 19 exclusively through the online fashion platform Musinsa.

The wearables feature unique design elements such as the Wooyoungmi Paris logo and ship along with chargers that match the design. In addition, Galaxy Watch 4 Wooyoungmi Edition customers can download a unique watch face from the Google Play Store.

How much does this exclusivity cost?

The Galaxy Watch 4 Wooyoungmi Edition starts at 369,000 won ($311) for the 40mm model. The 44mm variant costs a little extra and comes in at 399,000 won ($336), while the Galaxy Buds 2 Wooyoungmi Edition will be available for 199,000 won ($167).

Aside from the unique exterior design and the Galaxy Watch 4 getting a Wooyoungmi Edition watch face, these limited-edition variants have the same hardware capabilities as the standard Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Buds 2. However, their design is unique. And since Samsung is manufacturing them in limited quantities, chances are you might never get lucky enough to see them in real life. It’s not the same, but you can check the image gallery below.

How did the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Bespoke Edition come to be? Samsung tells us

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 Bespoke Edition is by far Samsung’s most customizable smartphone to date, much more so than the Galaxy S20 FE or any other smartphone before it. Where available, customers can order the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Bespoke Edition in one of 49 color combinations, so it virtually offers something for everyone. And that is precisely what Samsung was aiming for, according to a recent interview that details the phone’s design story.

Samsung observed market trends and realized that consumers want to express themselves through mobile devices, luxury goods, and clothing more than ever before. The company created the Galaxy Z Flip Bespoke Edition with a desire to give customers a way to express their individuality through their phones, and it went to great lengths to choose the best color combinations.

Galaxy Z Flip 3 Bespoke Edition is the result of over 1,280 color simulations

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 Bespoke Edition went through two phases throughout its development and is now going through the third and final stage. Throughout the first phase, Samsung worked together with global color experts and trend specialists to gather insight on global Color Material Finish (CMF) trends. This led to the development of the so-called “Celebrating Escape” concept, which is the philosophy on which the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Bespoke Edition is based, i.e., “breaking from industry norms.”

In the second phase, Samsung conducted more internal surveys to narrow down the color pool. It did more than 1,280 simulations to sort out the best colors, and the design team eventually decided on two frame color options (glossy silver and matte black) and six colors for the back panels. These color choices can be mixed and matched, resulting in 49 combinations.

The third and final stage is ongoing. It involves Samsung gathering customer feedback and analyzing Galaxy Z Flip 3 Bespoke Edition sales results. The company plans to use this data to improve future products.

The popularity of Bespoke Edition colors differ by market

As far as the aforementioned third stage is concerned, Samsung’s already gathered some data on popular color choices, and it looks like trends differ from one market to the next.

According to Samsung, the most popular color choice globally is white with a silver frame. Another popular choice is pink combined with a black frame, while US customers seem to prefer a combination of yellow and blue back panels on a silver frame.

These differences in market trends have reinforced Samsung’s view on Bespoke Edition devices and the importance of customization options, so here’s hoping that the Bespoke service will become available in more regions in the future.

When will the Galaxy S10 series get the Android 12 One UI 4.0 update?

The One UI 4.0 update is now live for the Galaxy S21 series and should soon reach more Galaxy smartphones and tablets, high-end or not. The Galaxy S10 series should be among the first to get One UI 4.0, though, as always, availability will differ by market.

In a general sense, the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10 5G should start receiving the update in January at the latest. Samsung confirmed this tentative January release in several markets through the Members app, though once again, it’s not going to apply to every region.

A December release is possible but less probable

If history is any indication, the Galaxy S10 series will likely receive One UI 4.0 later than January in some markets, though interestingly enough, Oculus suggests that Samsung will start updating its 2019 flagship series as early as December. So, Galaxy S10 users might be lucky enough to update their phones to Android 12 next month, or they could be enjoying the update after New Year’s. Our advice is to follow Samsung’s roadmap more so than the Oculus press release. It’s a safer bet, and you might not want to get your hopes up.

Either way, Samsung seemingly wants to update the Galaxy S10 series in the same month as its other recent flagship devices, ranging from the Galaxy Note 10 to the Galaxy S20 and Note 20. Achieving this would be a great way for the company to show that it cares about its older and newer flagships equally, but of course, roadmaps are subject to change.

One thing to keep in mind regarding the update: it should bring numerous improvements to the UI and the user experience, as a whole, with one exception for Gear VR users. Oculus confirmed it plans to drop Gear VR support for the Galaxy S10 series once Android 12 goes live, so you might want to hold on from updating your phone if you’re an avid Gear VR user.

We’ll let you know as soon as Samsung starts rolling out Android 12 and One UI 4.0 for the Galaxy S10 series, whether it’ll be December or January — or both. Stay tuned and check our social media networks below to stay up to date with future developments.

Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 20 One UI 4.0 beta testing live in the US!

After impressing us all by releasing the stable Android 12 and One UI 4.0 update for the Galaxy S21 series less than a month after Google, Samsung is no doubt hoping to continue the streak with other eligible flagships. The Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 lineups joined the One UI 4.0 beta program last week in select markets, and Samsung has now opened up beta access to Galaxy S20 and Note 20 users in the United States.

Samsung had briefly opened up the beta program to Galaxy S20 owners in the US last week before pulling the plug, but the beta is now available for real. If you own an unlocked Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra, Note 20, or Note 20 Ultra, you can hop on over to the Samsung Members app on the phone and tap the One UI Beta Program banner to join. Once enrolled, you should be able to download the first One UI 4.0 beta update (ZUK7) from the Settings » Software update menu within the next few minutes.

Since you’re going to be installing unfinished software, remember to backup all important data before diving into the sweetness that is One UI 4.0. There are many, many new features in the Android 12 update for Galaxy devices – we’ve covered almost every single one in the video that you can check out below.

And if you’re wondering when the final version of Android 12 and One UI 4.0 will be released for the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 smartphones, you can check out the One UI 4.0 roadmap in the Notices section of the Samsung Members app. Samsung is aiming for a January public release for its non-folding 2020 flagships in most markets, though that’s subject to change and depends on how quickly Samsung can iron out all the bugs.

Is chip design legend Jim Keller going to work with Samsung?

Anyone who follows the news about the chip industry knows who Jim Keller is. He’s a veteran of both Intel and AMD, being closely involved in chip advances at multiple companies. Keller also worked on some of Apple’s early proprietary processors.

Keller has also worked with Tesla, helping the company develop the chip that sits at the core of its self-driving computer system. It’s safe to say that the man knows a thing or two about chips and it looks like Samsung might get some help from him.

Jim Keller could work with Samsung on AI chips

Samsung hosted its third annual foundry forum today. It’s a gathering of its partners from across the globe. The topics under discussion at the forum included cooperation in the areas of gate-all-around transistor architecture, AI and 2.5D semiconductor chip packing technology.

The keynote speech at the forum was delivered by Jim Keller. This has led many to believe that he may work with Samsung to develop its future chips. ARM, Siemens, Google Cloud and ASML are among the members participating in the forum.

Keller’s future at Samsung hasn’t been confirmed. However, his prominent appearance at the forum has led many to believe that he could work with Samsung on its future chips. Keller currently works at a Toronto-based startup that’s developing AI chips. Industry watchers are also of the view that Keller might work with Samsung on an AI chip.

It would be a significant move on Samsung’s part if it’s able to bring Keller onboard. His experience will certainly aid the company in improving its competitiveness in this market. That’s something that Samsung’s already heavily invested in doing.

Final Galaxy S21 One UI 4.0 update lacks one of the best beta features

Earlier this year, Samsung introduced an excellent new feature called video call effects with One UI 3.1, designed to help users in the post-pandemic take-work-meetings-from-home era. Video call effects let you blur out the background when making video calls through apps like Microsoft Teams, Google Duo, and Zoom, letting you limit the humiliation to just your messy hair and keep your messy house out of sight when taking all those work calls with your colleagues.

And, with the One UI 4.0 beta, Samsung made the video call effects even more useful by enabling them to work with pictures taken in apps like WhatsApp and Instagram, and it was one of our favorite One UI 4.0 features when the beta program kicked off a few weeks back. Sadly, that feature hasn’t made it into the final version of Android 12 and One UI 4.0 that rolled out for the Galaxy S21 series earlier this week.

It’s unclear why Samsung chose to remove it from the public One UI 4.0 update, though I can think of a few reasons. The primary one, of course, is the fact that it’s called video call effects and was never really meant for stills. Furthermore, having video call effects enabled for pictures even blurred the image when you would, for example, use the QR code scanner in WhatsApp to link a new PC or device to your account, requiring you to manually turn off the feature in such instances.

Still, I wish Samsung had found a way to make things work instead of outright removing the possibility to blur the background in WhatsApp, Instagram, and other apps that let you take pictures. I also don’t see why Samsung hasn’t enabled video call effects for calls made in apps like WhatsApp yet – it’s available in Google Duo and Facebook Messenger so it’s not like Samsung is only allowing the feature inside apps used for work. It’s an odd limitation, and I hope it gets rectified in the near future.

What’s your favorite One UI 4.0 feature, and what’s your biggest issue with it? Let me know down in the comments!

International variant of Galaxy S22 Ultra appears with Exynos 2200

The Galaxy S22 could be unveiled in February 2022, but most of the features and specifications of the smartphone series have already been leaked. There has been a lot of interest around the Exynos 2200 processor which will debut with the Galaxy S22 series. However, it was being reported that only a few markets will get the Exynos variant, while others will get the Snapdragon variant.

According to a recent listing of the Galaxy S22 Ultra on Geekbench, the international variant of the smartphone (SM-S908B) will come equipped with the Exynos 2200 processor (S5E9925). The device is running Android 12 out of the box and has 8GB of RAM. The smartphone scored 691 points in the Geekbench 5’s single-core test and 3,167 points in the multi-core test.

Since both the Galaxy S20 Ultra and the Galaxy S21 Ultra come with at least 12GB RAM, it is possible that Samsung could be testing prototype versions of the smartphones. The company might not actually end up releasing an 8GB RAM variant of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. It will most probably feature 12GB or 16GB of RAM.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.8-inch Super AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an S Pen. It has a 40MP selfie camera and a 108MP+12MP+10MP+10MP rear-facing camera setup. It will come in Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 898 variants and have at least 128GB storage. It is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and could support 45W fast charging.

Galaxy A53 battery upgrade over the Galaxy A52 will make you happy

The Galaxy A5x series is an important one for Samsung. It’s usually one of the best-selling mid-range smartphones from the company. Samsung now has the Galaxy A53 in the pipeline. This device will take the baton from the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A52s.

There’s a lot that Samsung is going to change on the device. However, the battery upgrade that’s planned for the Galaxy A53 is certainly going to make a lot of Samsung fans happy. Who doesn’t like a bigger battery?

Galaxy A53 is getting a bigger battery than the Galaxy A52

GalaxyClub has uncovered information that the Galaxy A53 will feature a battery bearing part number EB-BA536ABY. This battery has a 5,000mAh capacity. Some of you will remember that the Galaxy A52 has a 4,500mah battery.

Samsung is no stranger to putting 5,000mAh batteries inside mid-range smartphones. Some of its Galaxy M series devices have it as well. However, the popular Galaxy A5x series hasn’t crossed that threshold yet. So it’s good to see that Samsung is finally bumping it up.

The bigger battery coupled with the efficiency gains from the new processor should make the battery life on the Galaxy A53 much better compared to its predecessor. However, we’ll only be able to know that for sure once we have the device in for review.

It’s unclear right now which chipset Samsung might use for the Galaxy A53. Some rumors suggest that there’s a new mid-range Exynos chipset with AMD graphics in the works. That chipset might be used for the Galaxy A53 but there’s no confirmation on that just yet.

Expect Samsung to unveil its new Galaxy A series early next year.

Most of Samsung’s 2022 lineup will be powered by Qualcomm chipsets

2022 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Samsung fans. We get to see an AMD GPU work its magic alongside Samsung chipsets, including the top-of-the-line Exynos 2200. Several mid-range smartphones could be powered by the aforementioned Exynos chipsets. However, we’ll still find quite a few phones with Qualcomm, MediaTek and even UNISOC chipsets.

A report by TheElec tells us how many Samsung devices could use SoCs made by each OEM. Samsung has 64 smartphones and tablets in the pipeline for 2022, of which 31 will use Qualcomm processors. 20 devices will use an Exynos chipset powered by the AMD GPU. 14 products will be powered by MediaTek silicon and three by UNISOC hardware. The MediaTek and UNISOC chips will likely find their way into entry-level devices.

Based on the above information, we can reasonably assume that the Qualcomm SoCs will be scattered across the spectrum ranging between the Snapdragon 898 powered Galaxy S22 series. The Galaxy A73 5G is expected to run a Snapdragon 778G 5G SoC and the Galaxy A52 a Snapdragon 720G.

The MediaTek SoCs could find their way in some 5G-enabled  Galaxy A and Galaxy M devices such as the Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G. There is at least one Helio G80-powered smartphone in the lineup, too. Lastly, we can expect some ultra-low-cost phones and tablets to run UNISOC hardware.

A previous report told us that some Galaxy A series smartphones could run Exynos SoCs. TheElec speculated that the upcoming Galaxy M33, Galaxy A33, Galaxy  53, could use the hardware. Even the low-cost Galaxy A13 might follow suit. Samsung could switch things up at the last moment, so it’s best if we treat the information with a grain of salt.

When will the Galaxy A51 get the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update?

Samsung surprised everyone by releasing the stable version of the One UI 4.0 update to the Galaxy S21 series earlier this week. The company released the update within a month after Google released the Android 12 update to its Pixel smartphones. It probably means that all eligible Galaxy devices will get the update earlier than Samsung’s usual release time frame.

If you were wondering about your Galaxy A51, the smartphone is eligible to get the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update. But when exactly will it get the update?

Galaxy A51’s Android 12 update will arrive in April 2022

Well, The mid-range smartphone was launched in December 2019 with Android 10-based One UI 2 onboard. It received the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update earlier this year, and according to Samsung’s announcement, the Galaxy A51 will get the Android 12 update in April 2022.

However, not all the Galaxy A51 units will get the update at the same time. Some regions will get it earlier than others. Moreover, the update will be released to the international variant of the smartphone first and then to carrier-locked and unlocked versions of the Galaxy A51. However, the update could expand to most countries worldwide within the next month or two.

Although the Galaxy A51’s carrier-locked units in the US received the Android 11 update four months after the international units, the update may arrive sooner this year. T-Mobile and Verizon versions of the Galaxy S21 received the Android 12 update on the same day as the international and unlocked units.

What will the One UI 4.0 update bring to the Galaxy A51?

The One UI 4.0 update brings a revamped UI design and Material You-inspired color palette. It also brings improved security and privacy, complete with App Privacy Report, quick setting toggles to cut off access to the camera and the microphone. The update also includes various other minor improvements, improved stock apps, and faster performance.
