[Update: Now live] Galaxy S20 gets exclusive three-month free access to Flipboard TV

Update: With the launch of the Galaxy S20 series, Flipboard’s premium video service, Flipboard TV, is now available. The $3 per month service is currently available exclusively for Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra users in the US for free (for three months).

Original story follows

Samsung unveiled a bunch of new high-end smartphones two days ago. The company closely worked with brands like Google, Microsoft, Netflix, and Spotify for some unique software integrations for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy Z Flip, and the Galaxy Buds+. Now, Flipboard has announced that it is launching its paid video service, which will be exclusive to the Galaxy S20 series for now.

Flipboard TV is a new curated video service that is integrated into the Flipboard app. It brings professionally produced video content from popular creators and media publishers across a variety of topics like business, entertainment, fashion, news, politics, technology, and more.

Flipboard’s new video service curates business videos from Barron’s, Bloomberg, Market Watch, The Wall Street Journal, and others, while entertainment content is sourced from Rolling Stones, US Weekly, and Variety. It also gives access to local TV news in the US from KCCI, KCRA, and WESH. The Politics channel gets content from The Recount and others.

The content curation service says that Flipboard TV will have more than 100 publishers at launch, which coincides with the launch of the Galaxy S20 series. Initially, Flipboard TV will be exclusively available on the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra. It will cost $2.99 per month after the three-month free trial.

Samsung chip manufacturing plant in South Korea catches fire

It is being reported that fire broke out in Samsung’s chip manufacturing plant in South Korea. However, no casualties have been reported so far. The South Korean chip giant has claimed earlier today that the production won’t be affected due to the fire. The company makes memory, storage, and application processors at the plant.

The company’s Hwaseong plant is situated to the south of Seoul, and the fire first broke out last night. The fire apparently broke out at a wastewater treatment deodorizer facility in the plant, so there was no damage to the production lines. Samsung said that it would fully co-operate with the fire authorities to find the root cause of the fire accident.

The fire department has mentioned that the fire was completely extinguished by the early morning, which is good news for Samsung. Two months ago, a minute-long power outage had caused massive manufacturing delays, causing millions in losses.

Earlier this month, the company was forced to shut down its smartphone production facility in Gumi, South Korea, after an employee was confirmed to carry the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.
