Could this be the heart rate sensor UI on the Samsung Orbis, aka Gear A?

Samsung might not have officially acknowledged it, but it surely has given away a few aspects of the user interface of the its upcoming round smartwatch, the Gear A. The developer SDK for the watch revealed its user interface (in addition to the specs and design), and Samsung Exynos’ Twitter account might just have given us a look at yet another part of the UI, and also confirmed that the Orbis will be powered by an Exynos processor.

Samsung Exynos tweeted earlier today that using your Heart Rate, your Exynos-powered #wearable can deliver accurate training information to help you improve. Accompanying the tweet is a circular image of an app measuring heart rate, and it sure looks possible that this is the user interface for the heart rate function on the Gear A. The UI looks quite simple and sleek, and somewhat matches the UI on the rest of the watch.

The tweet might also have given away the fact that the Gear A will use an Exynos processor, though that isn’t really surprising considering all existing Gear smartwatches (except the Gear Live) do the same. Other specs of the watch will include a 1.18-inch circular display with a resolution of 360×360 pixels, Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity, a heart rate sensor, a digital crown and a rotating bezel ring. The Gear A will launch alongside the Galaxy Note 5 according to our insiders.

Here’s a fix for the memory issues on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge [Needs Root!]

Well, in what is yet another example of how hobbyist developers and tech enthusiasts can fix a problem the well-paid engineers at Samsung seem to take a long time to do. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge have been offering a handicapped experience because of a RAM issue that has been discussed quite a lot in recent weeks – it’s something even the beta Android 5.1 builds we here at SamMobile have access to haven’t fixed, but an unofficial solution has now cropped up on the XDA forums.

The problem on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge seems to stem from the fact that Samsung has chosen to use some aggressive memory management settings, and not just from the memory leak issues that Android Lollipop suffers from (on pre-5.1 versions.) As a few XDA users have discovered, getting rid of the RAM issues is possible by making a few changes to the memory management values. Apps like Chrome, which use Android’s WebView function for displaying webpages, don’t behave any differently after making the changes, but otherwise the multitasking experience does improve considerably.

Unfortunately, changing these values requires one to have root access, which is why we don’t exactly recommend anyone try this out unless they are really, really hurting because of the S6′s aggressive killing of apps. Thankfully, there are a couple of root methods available online that do not trip the KNOX counter or mess with warranty in any permanent way, but even those will have the disadvantage of disabling any over-the-air updates in the future (a solution for which is our firmware database, which can you use to flash newer firmware even if you have a rooted device.)

Head over to the source link for all the details.

Samsung Galaxy Tab E 9.6 leak reveals Wi-Fi and 3G variants

A few months back we came across some trademark applications that Samsung filed for the Galaxy Tab A, Galaxy Tab E and the Galaxy Tab J, recent leaks suggest that the company is gearing up to launch the Galaxy Tab E. Some more information has surfaced online today regarding the tablet, the model numbers SM-T560 and SM-T561 correspond to the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G versions of this tablet.

The latest leak also suggests that the Galaxy Tab E 9.6 will have a 9.6-inch display with 800×1280 pixel resolution with a 4:3 aspect ratio. It may be powered by a Spreadtrum SC7730SE SoC which features a 1.3GHz processor coupled with 1.5GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. A microSD card slot will provide the option for external memory expansion up to 128GB. The 8.5mm thick tablet will feature a 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front camera as well as a 5000mAh battery.

Even though one might expect the tablet to come with Android 5.0 Lollipop straight out of the box, it’s said that it will actually be running Android 4.4 KitKat and will also have a Kids’ Mode pre-installed. The tablet will only be offered in Eastern Europe and Asia initially before Samsung decides whether or not it wants to launch the Galaxy Tab E 9.6 in additional markets. Samsung has not yet confirmed anything about this tablet so there’s always the possibility that there might be some changes in the final product as opposed to what you’re reading about it right now.

Samsung has announced a global marketing partnership with Universal Picture for Amblin Entertainment’s upcoming movie, Jurassic World. As a part of this partnership, Samsung will present exclusive content from the upcoming action-adventure movie on its SUHD TVs at its retail stores in the US until the movie releases on June 12. Basically, Samsung wants to market its SUHD TVs by partnering with the makers of the movie.

Samsung also had a presence at the movie’s world premiere and the post-party. The company has also created a video wall using SUHD TVs displaying content from the Jurassic World. The Samsung Innovation Center, the visitor’s center in the movie showcases high-tech interactive displays, including UHD TVs, where visitors can experience virtual dinosaurs as well as learn more about the Jurassic Park.

Partnering with Universal Pictures provides us with a unique opportunity to show our innovative technology and create an integrated marketing campaign tied to one of the biggest movies of the year,” said Won Pyo Hong, President and Chief Marketing Officer, Samsung Electronics. “The exclusive Jurassic World clip on Samsung’s SUHD TVs will show unmatched, lifelike picture quality with breathtaking color and detail, drawing viewers in so that they feel like a part of the action.

Samsung had a similar partnership with Marvel for globally marketing the movie characters from Avengers: Age Of Ultron through its mobile devices and vice versa. Similarly, Jurassic World trailers showcase Samsung’s products including the original Galaxy Gear.
