Samsung wants you to change the look of your Galaxy S6, S6 edge everyday, via accessories

Both, the Galaxy S6 and its edge counterpart, are some powerful pieces of kit; however, the makers of the device want to remind you of the fact that the it’s not all work and no play with the two phones. As we’ve also spoken before, Samsung wants its buyers to seriously consider its (and 3rd party) accessory offerings for the Galaxy S6, something that the company tried to highlight yet again in a blog post.

Among these, the company seemed most emphatic about the clear-view case, that when not in use reflects light, and at other times, displays information including time and weather. Could be thought of as a non-porous version of the dot view case from HTC, perhaps!

Other accessories that Samsung speaks of in the blog post include a clear rear cover, and of course, the trademark Samsung style S-view covers and flip covers. Besides the aforementioned cases and covers, Samsung also details its wireless charging pads which will be available in White and Black. Also shown off are some 3rd party cases that we talked about earlier, information about which can be had by visiting the source link below.

Animal Edition Battery Packs promote Samsung’s ‘Charge the Life’ campaign for endangered animals

Samsung today announced the release of its Animal Edition Battery Packs which feature illustrations of four species of endangered animals. This is part of Samsung’s “Charge the Life” campaign which is aimed at raising awareness about endangered animals. The battery packs will be available in two different variants, 8400mAh and 11300mAh, Samsung claims that latter will be able to charge a flat Galaxy Note 4 battery more than twice.

These battery packs will also have a clear power level display and they’re capable of charging two devices at once. An interactive Charge the Life app available through the Play Store and Samsung Galaxy Apps shows the featured animal on each battery pack become more animated as charging levels build up. Lesser panda and fennec fox will adorn the 8400mAh battery pack while the giant panda and golden monkey will have a place on the larger 11300mAh battery pack.

Calendar and clock icons highlight new TouchWiz

Samsung’s made some changes to TouchWiz in its new devices, one being the removal of a lot of Samsung apps that, in the past, were pre-loaded onto all of the company’s Galaxy smartphones. Tech analysts, critics, and consumers rallied for TouchWiz’s makeover – and here we are.

Tech site Phandroid has uncovered two subtle transformations to Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz UI on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. If you’re a current Samsung customer, you can look at your device’s TouchWiz UI and see an inanimate clock and a calendar that has the number “31” plastered on it for all eternity. Part of Samsung’s new TouchWiz UI involves animations in both the calendar and clock icons. The calendar icon will no longer bear the number “31” all 31 days of the month, for example, but will change numbers according to the date. If it’s the 10th day of the month, for example, the calendar icon will now bear the number “10.”

As for the clock, Samsung’s new TouchWiz clock will also display the current time via traditional watch hands, but adjust the watch hands with each passing minute. If it’s 10:30AM in your part of the world, for example, the clock will now have a short hand at the “10” and a long hand at the “6” (for 30 minutes past 10AM).

We know that Apple fans and diehard tech enthusiasts who love the fruit company will turn and say, “See, another feature Samsung copied from Apple!,” but we also know that this feature didn’t always exist on Apple devices, either. It was just in iOS 7 that Apple introduced live clock animations.

It’s nice to see some examples of subtle changes made to TouchWiz, and we’re confident that TouchWiz’s recent changes will be well received by the Samsung faithful.
