Galaxy Z Flip 3 gets extensively revealed in 360-degree videos

Samsung is planning to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 3 next month alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Watch 4. However, we don’t need to wait that long as the upcoming foldable phone’s design has been extensively revealed in newly-leaked videos. This isn’t the first time its design has leaked, though. The Galaxy Z Flip 3’s press render images were first leaked two days ago.

Popular leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks) has published 360-degree videos of all the color variants of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 on Twitter. The foldable smartphone appears in four colors—black, gold, olive green, and purple—in the new videos. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 still features a dual-camera setup similar to the Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. However, it now comes with a much larger (1.9-inch) cover display instead of a 0.98-inch cover display used by its predecessor.

The leaked videos also showcase the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s side-mounted fingerprint reader, 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O display, SIM card slot, loudspeaker, dual-microphone setup, and the USB Type-C port. There also appears to be a punch-hole-shaped display cutout to accommodate the selfie camera, which means that the phone lacks the rumored under-display camera.

Going by previous reports, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will use the Snapdragon 888+ processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB/512GB storage, and a 3,300mAh battery. The phone will run Android 11 out of the box. It has a 10MP selfie camera and a 12MP+12MP dual-camera setup. The phone also features a 120Hz display, an IP rating for dust and water resistance, 5G, LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, 15W fast charging, and fast Qi wireless charging.

BREAKING: Get your best look yet at the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic with this leak

It has been leaks galore recently. Samsung has a handful of new products that will be unveiled at its next Unpacked event that may take place on August 11. We have known for a while now that the company will be launching new Galaxy Watch smartwatches at the event.

Earlier reports have already revealed that multiple models will be on offer. Today’s leak gives us our best look yet at the model that’s apparently going to be launched as the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. We’ve seen the “Classic” branding being used in the past as well for Samsung’s smartwatches so it’s nothing new.

Samsung’s “Classic” smartwatches are coming back

It’s clear from the renders that the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic will have the rotating bezel that Samsung fans love. It has two large buttons on the the right side which make it appear more like a conventional watch.

The accompanying report claims that the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic will be offered in three sizes – 42mm, 44mm and 46mm. The case options for all three sizes include stainless steel and aluminum. It’s said that the smartwatch will be available in three colors – white, gray and black. You’ll be able to switch out the bands, as always, to customize the look of the watch. Any standard 20mm watch band can be used.

The display will have Gorilla Glass DX protection on the stainless steel and DX+ protection on the aluminum models. Other specs include water resistance up to 5ATM which makes it perfectly capable of joining you in the pool or the shower. It’s built to the MIL-STD-810G standard for added durability.

Samsung is no longer using Tizen for its smartwatches. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic will run on the new Wear platform that the company has developed with Google. It will also come with One UI Watch, the new custom skin for Samsung smartwatches. The company has already given us a first look at One UI Watch.

No word as yet on the pricing but expect it to start around $399 like its predecessor. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic may be unveiled at the Unpacked event that’s believed to be scheduled for August 11. It may be released on August 28, if you feel that the date displayed on the device in these renders is a hint.

Your new iPad will use a Samsung display in 2022

Samsung Display is the world’s biggest manufacturer of small-sized OLED display panels. It supplies OLED screens to various brands, including Apple. It is now being reported that Samsung’s OLED panels will debut on the iPad sometime next year. Samsung’s tablets have been using OLED screens for over a decade now (Galaxy Tab 7.7 released in 2011 was Samsung’s first OLED tablet), which makes Apple laughably late to the game.

According to a new report from TheElec, Apple will launch its first iPad with a 10.86-inch OLED display in 2022. The device will reportedly be the successor to the current-generation iPad Air. Samsung Display is expected to be the exclusive supplier of rigid OLED panels for next year’s iPad Air. In 2023, Apple will reportedly launch 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models with OLED screens.

This development seems odd as Apple recently switched from regular LCDs to mini-LED displays with the iPad Pro (2021). The mini-LED technology offers various improvements over LCDs, including higher brightness, higher contrast ratio, and deeper blacks. However, OLED is considered to be superior technology due to perfect blacks and an infinite contrast ratio. The OLED technology has just one downside: potential burn-in problems.

Resisting the OLED technology for years, then switching to mini-LED displays, only to use radically different OLED displays after just one year seems strange, especially coming from Apple. Still, it’s great to know that Samsung has been using better display technology and has been ahead of Apple for ten years!

Gawk at these highly detailed Galaxy Z Fold 3 images in 5K resolution!

All eyes are set on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3, which is expected to be officially unveiled in the first half of August 2021. However, its design and most of its specifications have been revealed already. Earlier today, the first set of Galaxy Z Fold 3 marketing images were leaked, and now, highly detailed 3D CAD renders and 360-degree video of the foldable phone have been revealed.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3’s detailed renders have been published by Digit.in, in collaboration with famous tipster @OnLeaks. The foldable smartphone appears in three colors: white (or beige?), olive green, and black. It is being reported that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will sport a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O cover display and a 7.5-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O foldable display. It is also said to be compatible with the S Pen. There appears to be a side-mounted fingerprint reader and a triple-camera setup on the rear.

According to the report, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 measures 158.1 x 64.8 x 14.5mm (15.6mm including the camera bump) when it is folded and 158.1 x 128.1 x 6.6mm (7.7mm including the camera bump) when it is unfolded. It means that the upcoming device is 1.2mm thinner compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 2, which was 16.8mm thick. The device is also rumored to be lighter compared to its predecessor, making it easier to handle. It seems to lack those rumored flat sides, and there’s no headphone jack.

Going by previous reports and leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will run Android 11 out of the box and come equipped with the recently-announced Snapdragon 888+ processor, 12GB/16GB RAM, and 256GB/512GB storage. It will have 10MP selfie cameras and a 12MP triple-camera setup at the rear with 4K 60fps video recording. We had exclusively revealed that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 would have an official IP rating for dust and water resistance.

Other features such as AKG-tuned stereo speakers, Samsung Pay, Samsung DeX, Wi-Fi 6E, UWB, 5G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and USB Type-C port are also expected. A 4,400mAh battery powers the Galaxy Z Fold 3, and the device supports 25W fast wired charging, fast wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging. We had also exclusively revealed earlier this month that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 would be up to 20% cheaper than its predecessor.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 could get cheaper soon after launch thanks to one change

Samsung has been quite aggressive with its 5G push. The company has a growing number of budget and mid-range 5G phones, and this year, the premier Galaxy S flagship line offered 5G everywhere. Last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 2 had no LTE-only flavor, either, but it seems Samsung is not fully ready to commit to the new generation of cellular connectivity when it comes to its flip phones.

How much more affordable can Samsung can make its foldables?

Until now, except for one report months ago, we’ve heard only about the Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G and have been expecting it to be the sole model that will be released. But according to the latest rumor, Samsung still has an LTE variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 in the works. This LTE variant will reportedly arrive sometime after the 5G model has gone on sale, likely to bring the phone to an even more aggressive price point than what is currently expected.

However, from what we’re told, development on that supposed LTE variant has pretty much stalled at this point, suggesting Samsung may not actually bring it to market even if it does exist. Samsung also tested an LTE-only Galaxy S21 last year but only sold the series with 5G connectivity as standard, and the same could be true for its upcoming clamshell foldable.

It’s also worth noting that the chip shortage that has gripped the smartphone and various other industries might be a big obstacle even if Samsung plans to launch LTE and 5G Galaxy Z Flip 3 models. But maybe Samsung will find a way to do it considering how it’s going all in with foldables in the latter half of this year, so we’ll be keeping an open mind for now.

Galaxy A22 now available in India, but you should buy something else instead

Samsung seems to have quietly put the Galaxy A22 on sale in the Indian market. It was only a few days ago when pricing for the phone had leaked online, and Samsung India is now selling the device on its official website without making any official announcement. The Galaxy A22 is priced at INR 18,499 (roughly $250) in the country, is available in black and mint, and comes in a single variant that has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

If you glance at the Galaxy A22’s spec sheet, you will soon realize that no variant of the phone is worth purchasing, not when you consider you can buy the Galaxy M32 instead. The Galaxy A22 features a 6.4-inch HD+ 90Hz Super AMOLED display, octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 processor, a 48MP optically stabilized main rear camera accompanied by 8MP, 2MP, and 2MP ultra-wide, depth, and macro sensors, a 13MP selfie camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 15W fast charging. Out of the box, it runs Android 11 with One UI 3.1 Core.

The only thing the Galaxy A22 has going for it compared to the Galaxy M32 is the OIS-equipped main camera. The M32, however, gets you a bigger battery (6,000 mAh) with faster charging (25W), a higher-resolution main camera (64MP vs 48MP), a 20MP selfie camera, a higher-resolution display (Full HD+ vs HD+), and the non-Core version of One UI 3.1, all for a lower price.

The 6+128GB Galaxy M32 will cost you INR 16,999 (roughly $230), and if you can make do with lower memory and storage, you can get the 4+64GB variant for a cool INR 14,999 (roughly $200). For more details, you can check out our Galaxy M32 review. Samsung will launch the Galaxy F22 in India next month

Samsung has an odd habit of launching existing smartphones with different names in different markets, and sometimes in the same market (like it did with the Galaxy A02s in India). The company has already launched multiple such devices this year, including the Galaxy F62, Galaxy M62, Galaxy A02s, Galaxy F02s, and Galaxy M02s. It will soon unveil the Galaxy F22, which appears to be a rebranded Galaxy A22.

We had first confirmed the existence of the Galaxy F22 two months ago. The phone then appeared in the Bluetooth SIG database, revealing that it is a rebranded version of the Galaxy A22. Now, it is being reported that the Galaxy F22 will be launched in India in the second week of July 2021. The device could be priced below INR 20,000 (around $270) in the country because the Galaxy A22 is priced at INR 18,499. The company probably won’t launch the 5G version of the Galaxy A22 or the Galaxy F22 in India.

Galaxy F22 expected specs

The Galaxy F22’s specifications might be similar to the Galaxy A22. It means that the device could sport a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy F22 could come with a 13MP selfie camera and a 48MP+8MP+2MP+2MP quad-camera setup with Full HD video recording.

Samsung will most probably equip the Galaxy F22 with the MediaTek Helio G80 processor, 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot. It could feature a side-mounted fingerprint reader, dual-SIM card slot, 4G, GPS, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It could be powered by a 5,000mAh battery that is compatible with 15W fast charging.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is Samsung’s next big smartphone release, and the device is expected to be launched in the first week of August 2021. However, its design and most of its features have already been leaked. Today, more press renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 have been leaked, showcasing all its color variants.

The images of the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which were published by 91Mobiles today, reveal that the foldable smartphone will be available in three colors: black, olive green, and white. Similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 appears to feature a side-mounted fingerprint reader, two punch-hole selfie cameras, and a triple-camera setup at the rear.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 features a 7.55-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O foldable display on the inside and a 6.23-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O cover display on the outside. Both its screens have a 120Hz high-refresh-rate. The foldable phone is rumored to feature a 10MP selfie camera on the cover display and a 16MP selfie camera on the foldable display. It might have a 12MP triple-camera setup on the rear.

The phone is expected to be equipped with the Snapdragon 888+ processor, 12GB/16GB RAM, and 256GB/512GB internal storage. We had exclusively revealed earlier this year that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will feature an official IP rating for dust and water resistance. The device is also compatible with the S Pen, but it isn’t visible in the images leaked today.

Galaxy S21 FE to have a high-end feature that is missing on Galaxy S21 Ultra

The Galaxy S20 FE was a smash hit, and Samsung was expected to unveil its successor sometime in August. However, the Galaxy S21 FE’s launch was delayed to Q4 of 2021 due to chip shortages. Ahead of the launch, its design and some of its specs were leaked. It has now been revealed that the Galaxy S21 FE will come with a high-end feature that’s missing even on the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Samsung received the FCC certification for the Galaxy S21 FE (SM-G990U, SM-G990U1) earlier today, revealing the phone’s connectivity and charging features. According to the certification documents, the Galaxy S21 FE features 45W fast charging (11V, 2.25A or 21V, 2.1A). Samsung introduced the 45W fast charging feature with the Galaxy Note 10+, which was also used in the Galaxy S20 Ultra. However, the company left out 45W fast charging from the Galaxy S21 Ultra, so it is interesting to see that feature return with the Galaxy S21 FE.

It has also been confirmed that the Galaxy S21 FE features mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac/ax (Wi-Fi 6), Bluetooth 5.0 (with EDR and LE), NFC, and WPT (Wireless Power Transfer). The smartphone supports fast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

Samsung is expected to equip the Galaxy S21 FE with a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It could have a 32MP selfie camera and a 12MP triple-camera setup at the rear with OIS and 4K 60fps video recording. The phone is equipped with the Snapdragon 888 processor, 6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB internal storage, IP68 rating, stereo speakers, in-display fingerprint reader, and a 4,500mAh battery.

The new Google Messages feature Samsung Messages should copy right away

Google Messages is getting an excellent new feature to help users declutter their SMS inbox, one that we think Samsung should copy for its own Messages app as soon as possible. Google has officially announced some new Google Messages functionality for users in India, and one of those involves the option to automatically delete one-time passwords (OTPs) 24 hours after they’re received.

Two-factor authentication is pretty common across many services these days, including banking transactions and for logging in to various apps, which means you get a ton of one-time passwords that, unless you delete them right then and there after viewing them, continue to pile up as time goes on. That is exactly where the new Google Messages feature comes in. It can automatically delete messages it detects as OTPs 24 hours after they come in, making decluttering the inbox a lot less inconvenient and time-consuming.

For now, only Indian users are getting this new Google Messages update, but it will no doubt make its way to other markets over the coming weeks/months. Hopefully, Samsung can bring over something similar to Samsung Messages in the near future, though with the company now making Google Messages the default SMS app on Galaxy phones and tablets that launch running One UI 3.1 or later, it’s possible it isn’t too interested in adding new features to its own app.

Samsung, take notes: Netflix can now play partially downloaded videos

The latest feature addition to the Netflix Android app is a good reminder of why the American company is still the number one on-demand video platform – particularly on mobile. Or why Samsung should be taking notes, if you will. Namely, the newest version of Netflix that just hit the Play Store lets you play content that hasn’t finished downloading. The UX line of thinking that resulted in this functionality was to minimize user disappointment in cases when their Netflix-watching habits have them hit their monthly data cap or they simply lose Wi-Fi signal.

“Minimizing user disappointment” doesn’t sound half bad, especially from the perspective of someone who gave Samsung TV Plus a go more than once… or so we hear.

Not that Samsung TV Plus is competing with Netflix, but isn’t this feature a no-brainer?

Not that there can be any like-for-like comparisons between a premium streaming service and a free Internet TV offering, of course. But Samsung’s obviously vying to become a bigger player in the content space. And the best way to do that is – by improving one’s content, no? Not just content-wise, but also in terms of technical availability. In fact, the latter is the only fair comparison when it comes to sizing up Samsung TV Plus against a behemoth of a video platform like Netflix.

In any case, the new version of Netflix has been rolling out since yesterday. If you’re still running an older build which hasn’t auto-updated in the meantime, head over to the app’s Play Store page and you should be able to download it manually.

National Geographic’s underwater video shot with Galaxy S21 Ultra looks amazing

National Geographic Traveller India has partnered up with Samsung India to capture some stunning images of marine wildlife. It involves a marine life expert capturing her underwater adventures using nothing but a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. We get to see several Galaxy S21 Ultra camera features in action, such as 8K videography, low-light photography and the ability to capture 33-megapixel stills while recording an 8K video. The following video walks us through the adventurer’s journey through the ocean, which began in Fuvahmulah, the shark island of the Maldives.

Although the Galaxy S21 Ultra has an IP rating and can be submerged underwater, attempting to do so in a marine environment would almost certainly ruin it due to the high atmospheric pressure and salinity. That’s why the smartphone is encased by a protective layer. That could, in theory, affect the quality of images because it adds an extra layer for light to refract through. That doesn’t seem to have bothered the Galaxy S21 Ultra a whole lot, as it still managed to capture some stunning images of the ocean.

Our Galaxy S21 Ultra review determined that the quality of 8K videos recorded by the smartphone’s camera is only marginally better than the ones shot at 4K. Perhaps National Geographic has better use for 8K footage than the average consumer, given that they are used to shooting at the resolution all the time with their standard equipment.

Latest SoundAssistant update brings back a beloved feature

SoundAssistant is one of the many Good Lock modules that enable you to customize your Galaxy smartphone or tablet. Samsung sends out updates for these modules from time to time. Major updates tend to bring new features while minor updates only bring bug fixes and improvements.

A new update is rolling out for the SoundAssistant module. It’s not a minor update in that it’s not only bug fixes and stability improvements that are included. This update brings back a feature that many users didn’t like to see being taken away.

SoundAssistant is now better than ever before

Samsung has released the SoundAssistant version 4.1.002 today. It stores the beloved floating button that provides convenience to users. There’s a host of new customization options as well for the volume menu and the location of the volume bar.

In earlier versions of this module there was a bug that intermittently prevented the concert hall feature from working as it was supposed to. Samsung has addressed the bug in this update. Other stability improvements are made through this update as well.

In addition to these fixes, the changelog mentions that an FC issue while using the volume panel theme has been addressed through this update. That just about seals it for all that’s included in this update. We can expect major feature additions to come after One UI 4.0 is released. That’s expected to happen towards the end of this year.

Why isn’t Samsung rushing to support Windows 11 Android app emulation?

In case you’ve missed last week’s news, it seems Windows 11 will be able to run Android apps in a somewhat native fashion. While we’re reserving our judgment for how this functionality will actually work in practice, it’s definitely not too early to wonder: Why isn’t Samsung all over this initiative? With, like, support and stuff?

Given the sheer volume of phone-to-PC-to-phone-to-awkward-paperweight-accessories-to-phone-and-back-to-PC solutions Samsung put out over the last half a decade, you’d think the Korean giant would be thrilled to find out someone’s finally doing something serious in the Android desktop emulation space. And yet, the seemingly killer feature of Windows 11 appears to be launching with zero involvement on Samsung’s part. How could that be?

Let’s face it: Samsung and Microsoft are a natural fit

Samsung and Microsoft are hardly strangers, what with both being among history’s largest companies both in the tech space and beyond. And both have been trying to bridge the gap between desktops and mobile for a good few years now. Microsoft has been the most successful of the two in that endeavor, at least based on my anecdotal experience with the Your Phone app, which I find to be miles ahead of Samsung Flow and similar solutions. The prospect of connecting smartphones and desktops seems like a pretty straightforward ambition to pursue, just for the sheer convenience of it all.

But Microsoft’s latest exploits in the space are being backed by Amazon, not Samsung. Making it pretty clear that Redmond wasn’t too picky when it came to deciding who to partner up with. Not that Amazon is some small-time company but as far as Android expertise is concerned, they’re about as desirable of a partner as Barnes and Noble. Sure, they’ve had some success in the space, but their view of Android is nothing like what the average consumer perceives the platform to be.

At the same time, Samsung has been making strides toward turning DeX into something that’s actually useful, which is quite an achievement, considering how gimmicky the solution felt only a couple years prior. There’s zero doubt in my mind that Microsoft and Samsung had some talks over the former’s foray into the world of Android emulation; the Galaxy Store might not be the best thing ever but it’s still way more user-friendly than Amazon’s Play Store rival. Not to mention readily available on a huge number of currently active mobile devices – by default.

Sure, Amazon’s marketplace has a potentially wider reach by virtue of being available on every Android device. But remember, we’re talking about emulation here, not a like-for-like replacement for the Your Phone app. Not to mention that the specifics of how Windows 11 will emulate Android apps are still hazy, to say the least.

From Android apps to foldable phones, we’ve been clamoring for a tighter Samsung-Microsoft partnership for some time now. It’s just not happening, however, for reasons probably unbeknownst even to most staffers at the two companies. None of this is to say Samsung won’t be joining Microsoft’s efforts to connect desktops and smartphones in the future. But the fact that they won’t be there from day one likely signals that their vision for the future of Android, on the whole, isn’t too close to what Microsoft has in mind for the ecosystem.

Next update to Samsung’s My Files app will bring major new features and improvements

Samsung has been updating all of its stock apps to bring multi-column UI so that they scale well on tablets and foldable smartphones. Now, the company has announced that it will update the My Files app to bring new features and UI improvements. These changes could be related to the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 launch.

A Samsung engineer, who is in charge of the My Files app, has mentioned in the company’s official forum that the upcoming version (v12.2) of the app will bring a multi-column UI and usability improvements. The current default view of the file manager app shows all the folders present in the root folder, and that might confuse some users. So, Samsung is adding an ‘Essential’ filter, and when you select it, it just displays essential folders such as DCIM, Downloads, Music, and Pictures. Other folders such as Alarms, Audiobooks, Documents, Movies, Notifications, Podcasts, Ringtones, and Recoding won’t be displayed if they are empty.

The South Korean firm is also adding an always-visible side column (Navigation Rail) for large-screen devices like tablets and Galaxy Z Fold series smartphones. This will help the app in scaling better across the large display and offer better productivity. The company is also adding a feature that will allow users to open files in a separate window and then view the file and the file manager in a side-by-side window layout.

Samsung is also adding an option to backup and restore users’ favorite folders. The upcoming version of the My Files app will also allow copying and moving files from one category to another.

Samsung’s bonkers 192MP camera sensor may end up inside a Xiaomi phone

Samsung (System LSI) and Sony are the world’s biggest mobile camera sensor brands. The South Korean firm started the megapixels race by launching 48MP and 64MP sensors in 2018 and a 108MP sensor in 2019. It is reported a few months ago that Samsung has plans to launch 200MP and even 600MP ISOCELL camera sensors in the future, and one of those sensors could be used by Xiaomi.

According to the Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi is working on a high-end smartphone with a 200MP sensor. Xiaomi was the first to release a smartphone with a 108MP camera sensor, and it could do the same with Samsung’s upcoming 192MP/200MP ISOCELL camera sensor. Apparently, the sensor will feature 16-in-1 pixel binning to convert 192MP/200MP images into 12MP/12.5MP images.

This sensor could also offer lossless zoom from 1x to 4x by cropping and multi-frame rendering. Needless to say, we can expect the sensor to feature 4K 120fps and 8K video recording abilities. Like the 48MP, 50MP, 64MP, and 108MP ISOCELL sensors from Samsung, the 200MP sensor could feature phase-detection autofocus, advanced HDR capabilities, and zero shutter lag.

Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship smartphone is said to feature Qualcomm’s flagship processor for 2021 (Snapdragon 895), which is built using a 4nm fabrication process. The chipset could feature Kryo 780 CPU cores (based on ARM’s new v9 architecture), Adreno 730 GPU, Spectra 680 ISP, and an integrated Snapdragon X65 5G modem. The device is also said to come with an extremely curved screen and a punch-hole camera.

The Xiaomi smartphone with Samsung’s 200MP ISOCELL camera sensor could be unveiled sometime in the first half of 2022. However, it may not be released globally, similar to the Mi MIX Alpha.

Samsung fans are looking forward to the next Samsung Unpacked event. If the rumors are any indication, the company has a few exciting announcements lined up for us. However, it’s yet to confirm when the event will take place.

A big hint might have just come our way through a massive Galaxy Z Flip 3 leak. It possibly reveals when the next Samsung Unpacked event will happen. Like last year, this will also be an entirely virtual event.

Samsung Unpacked 2021 possibly set for August 11

If you look closely at the date in these freshly leaked Galaxy Z Flip 3 renders, you’ll notice that the cover display shows August 11. This will likely be when the next Samsung Unpacked takes place.

We have seen this many times in the past. The device’s display in the renders mentions the exact date of its launch event. That’s what makes this particular instance appear credible. August 11 is also within the expect timeline for the event.

The next Samsung Unpacked is going to be a packed event, pun intended. The company will unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3. It may also launch the Galaxy Buds 2 and the Galaxy Watch 4 at this event. Samsung has new flagship tablets in the pipeline as well but they may be launched a bit later.

Samsung hasn’t returned to in-person events yet so this Unpacked will also be entirely online. The Unpacked event in the second half of the year traditionally features a new Galaxy Note flagship as well. It has already been confirmed by the company that we won’t be getting a new Galaxy Note in 2021.

The new devices won’t hit the market immediately after the event. If reports are believed, the new foldable smartphones will be released on August 27.

Samsung greenlights plans for yet another U.S. factory

Samsung greenlit plans for yet another factory in the United States, South Korean media report. And no, this isn’t about Samsung Electronics and its up-and-coming chipmaking monster project in the heart of Texas. The new report concerns its sister company, Samsung SDI, which is currently in the process of planning a new battery plant.

The South Korean firm is looking to start construction work by 2023 and wrap up the development in two years’ time, The Elec reports, citing sources familiar with the plan. As the factory should be churning out batteries come sometime in 2025, Samsung SDI is expected to officially confirm today’s report in the near future. Largely on account of being a publicly traded company with a legal obligation to report such prospects to both potential and existing investors alike.

Samsung SDI’s valuation is on road to being half a billion heavier on the back of this news

While the report of the planned U.S. expansion came hours after the end of regular business hours at the Korea Stock Exchange, Samsung SDI is currently up over a point in after-hours trading. Going by the number of its shares currently in circulation, the company gained approximately $424 million in market capitalization on the back of this report.

With that said, the company is still deciding on the details of the move. Sources cited by the original story claim the project will be finalized by this time next year. A potential joint venture with an established automaker – Korean or otherwise – isn’t out of the question, either. Not least because the plant in question is meant to specialize in electric vehicle batteries.

Galaxy Buds 2 leaked pricing shows its will compete with Apple’s Beats Studio Buds

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Buds 2 alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in August. However, the company’s upcoming wireless earbuds’ design, features, and specifications were leaked ahead of its official announcement. Now, the pricing of the Galaxy Buds 2 has been leaked.

According to a report from 91Mobiles, the Galaxy Buds 2 would be priced anywhere between $149 and $169, which means that it will directly compete with Apple’s recently launched Beats Studio Buds. This pricing is similar to the Galaxy Buds+, which was launched last year. It would be logical for Samsung to either discontinue the Galaxy Buds+ or keep selling them at a lower price (currently being sold for $85) and launch the Galaxy Buds 2 at $149.

Galaxy Buds 2 specs

The Galaxy Buds 2 features a design similar to the Galaxy Buds Pro, but they use a matte finish instead of glossy paint. Moreover, their rounded square case features a white colorway on the outside. On the inside, the case comes in either black, green, purple, or white. They might use a Bluetooth 5.0 chip (with AAC) and a dual-driver design similar to the Galaxy Buds+.

It is being expected that the Galaxy Buds 2 won’t feature ANC (Active Noise Cancellation). So, it will be hard for them to compete with the Beats Studio Buds, which feature ANC. Other features could include automatic wear detection, capacitive touch controls, AKG audio tuning, transparency mode, wireless charging, and a USB Type-C port for fast wired charging.

There’s also good news for those who have been thinking about buying this device. We have confirmed that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will get a price cut of up to 20%. A foldable device of this caliber at a lower price point is certainly going to be hard to resist.

Samsung will likely unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 together in the first week of August. The release is being rumored for August 27.
