The latest Galaxy S10 update rolling out more widely now

The latest Galaxy S10 update, which happens to be the third with the May 2019 security patch, is rolling out more widely now. The update was initially released in Germany and Switzerland earlier this week. The new update carries the exactly same changelog as the previous two May security updates.

Another Galaxy S10 May update

Samsung released the original May 2019 security patch (software version XXU1ASE5) for the Galaxy S10 towards the end of last month. However, the update was soon taken off the air when it was found to be causing serious issues to some users. The company then released a hotfix update (XXU1ASE6) to take care of those issues.

However, amidst all these hustle and bustle, Samsung seems to have messed up a few things. Galaxy S10 owners in some markets did not receive the hotfix update, but only the original bug-infested May security update. Meanwhile, in a few others, the device is still on the April 2019 security patch. The new update, which carries the software version XXU1ASE7, should now settle down the things for everyone. After all, it’s an important update too, as it significantly improves the Night mode on the Galaxy S10 camera.

The drill for getting the latest update is same as usual. You should be able to download it over the air from the Settings » Software update menu on your phone. Alternatively, you can download the firmware from our database and flash it on your phone.

Samsung launches the Cardinal Red Galaxy S10

Samsung has officially launched the Cardinal Red Galaxy S10. The 128GB variants of the Galaxy S10 and S10+ are now available to purchase in this new shade in Switzerland. The Galaxy S10e will also be getting Samsung’s hot new color soon.

Samsung often introduces new colors for its flagship smartphones a few months after they hit the market. It has done so with the Galaxy S8 and S9 in the past, and is now doing with the Galaxy S10 as well. Launched in February this year, all three members of the Galaxy S10 family are now getting a new Cardinal Red color. The paint job, however, is going to be applied only to the 128GB models.

Samsung often limits certain colors to select markets and the same is expected in this case as well. The Cardinal Red Galaxy S10 is said to see a limited availability in western Europe, with Russia being one of the few markets to get it. We should hear more about it in the coming days.

As for the device itself, nothing else changes except its paint job. All of the specs and features, as well as the price, remains the same. In Switzerland, the 128GB Galaxy S10 is priced at CHF 829.95 (~$837), whereas the Galaxy S10+ with the same memory configuration costs CHF 929.95 (~$938). The 128GB Galaxy S10e costs CHF 779.95 (~$786) in the country.

Galaxy A30 June security update brings improved Telegram compatibility

A new software update for the Galaxy A30 is rolling out in India today, bringing the June 2019 security patch and a slow motion video recording mode for the camera. The update sports software version A305FDDU2ASE5 and also brings improved compatibility with Telegram, which had removed the 2019 Galaxy A series phones from its compatibility list because of some unexplained issue with the file system. Telegram X, a newer, more advanced version of the app had no problems, and the original app should also start working on at least the Galaxy A30.

Slow motion mode missing despite being mentioned in changelog

But if you got excited that you will now be able to capture slow motion videos on your Galaxy A30, we’ve got some bad news for you. We checked our Galaxy A30’s camera app after installing the update and found that there’s no slow motion mode in there. It’s not often that you see the changelog for an update mention a new feature without actually adding it to the device, and it looks like a rather glaring oversight on Samsung’s part. The Galaxy A30 also continues to miss out on features like Bixby Routines, which were added to the Galaxy A50 with a software update back in April. However, that’s not completely surprising given the A30’s price tag.

Galaxy A30 owners can download the 460 MB update over the air by going into the phone’s Settings app, selecting Software update, and tapping the Download and install option. We’ll also have the firmware for the new update in our database shortly so you can manually flash it on your device using your Windows PC.

Samsung celebrating 10 years of Galaxy with special Galaxy S10 deals

Samsung’s Galaxy series of Android phones will have its tenth birthday this month (the first Galaxy phone came out in the last week of June, 2009), and as part of its Galaxy Day celebration, the company is offering a year of YouTube Premium membership for free to those who purchase a Galaxy S10 or Galaxy Note 9. The Galaxy Day offers are only for US customers and will run until June 30; those who buy an S10 or Note 9 by June 8 will also receive free Galaxy Buds along with the YouTube Premium subscription.

A month’s subscription of YouTube Premium costs $11.99, which means new Galaxy S10e, S10, S10+, S10 5G and Galaxy Note 9 buyers will save nearly $150. Add the Galaxy Buds on top for those who buy either device by June 8 and you have a pretty fantastic deal. And that’s not all. Samsung has also teamed up with Best Buy for an additional $300 discount on the S10 and S10+ if the device is activated on AT&T’s network by July 13. Samsung may also add more offers in the coming days, but the free YouTube Premium subscription is the only gift that’s applicable to all retailers for now.

If you want the free Galaxy Buds, you might want to place an order for the S10 or Note 9 as soon as possible, as Samsung says the Galaxy Buds deal is only applicable until stocks last. As for the YouTube subscription, you’ll get a voucher code delivered to your email once you’ve registered your new device through the Shop Samsung app.

Samsung brings its 8K QLED TV lineup to India

Samsung unveiled new 8K QLED TVs earlier this year at CES 2019. The company has been gradually expanding their availability to various markets around the world since then. India is also joining the list now with Samsung announcing availability and pricing details today. Along with the 8K QLED TVs, the Korean company is also bringing other QLEDs TV from its 2019 lineup to the subcontinent.

Samsung will be selling the 8K QLED TVs in 98-inch, 82-inch, 75-inch and 65-inch variants in India. The 98-inch model will only be made to order and costs an eye-popping ₹59,99,900. The 82-inch model is priced at ₹16,99,900 and the 75-inch variant at ₹10,99,900. Samsung has not yet revealed the pricing for the 65-inch model but has promised to do so soon. It will be available for purchase in July, while the others are already available for purchase.

The non-8K 2019 QLED models will be available starting this month and are priced as follows – ₹3,99,900 for the Q90 65 inch model, ₹2,09,900 for the Q80 55 inch model to ₹6,49,900 for the Q80 75 inch model, ₹1,69,900 for the Q70 55 inch model to ₹2,79,900 for the Q70 65 inch model, and ₹94,900 for the Q60 43 inch mode to ₹7,49,900 for the Q60 82-inch model.

Samsung will be offering a free Amazon Echo Plus to premium QLED TV and an Amazon Echo Dot to the 4K UHD TV customers. Other offers include cashback schemes, zero-down payment option, 10-year warranty for screen burn-in, two years warranty on panels, etc. All these TVs will be available for purchase at Samsung’s online and offline retail partners and the company’s own outlets and website.

Galaxy S10 is getting a third software update with the May security patch

Samsung has released a third Galaxy S10 software update with the May 2019 security patch in some countries. The original May security update (software version XXU1ASE5) was taken off the air when it was found to be causing a number of issues, and Samsung released a hotfix update (XXU1ASE6) soon after to take care of those issues. And now, Samsung is rolling out yet another minor update for its latest flagship, once again with the May 2019 security patch instead of the June patch that was detailed by the company today.

Galaxy S10 owners in some markets have only received the original bug-infested May security update but not the initial hotfix update, and their devices might directly jump to the new update (software version XXU1ASE7) that is rolling out today. There are also some countries where the Galaxy S10 trio are still on the April security patch, and we’re assuming today’s update will be the first one with the May security patch and all the camera improvements for those countries, albeit with a larger download size. Of course, it’s also possible these countries will skip ahead to the June security update later this month, although all of it is speculation on our part.

For now, the new May update is available in Germany and Switzerland, where both previous May updates were also released (the changelog is exactly the same across all three updates). It can be downloaded over the air by tapping Download and install in the Software update menu of the phone’s Settings app. It’s also available over Samsung Smart Switch and in our firmware database as well, so you have plenty of options to choose from to grab the newest update for your device.
