Galaxy S10 and Note 10 purchases in India come with discounts on other Samsung products

Samsung has made a habit of offering discounts on smartwatches, accessories, and other devices on purchase of its flagship Galaxy models. Though these promotional offers are a regular occurrence, the company keeps tweaking the discounts and the applicable products all through the year to attract new customers.

Samsung India has come up with one such new promotion for its 2019 flagship smartphones. Under the new offer, the company is offering discounts up to 32% on a wide range of Samsung products to those who purchase a Galaxy S10 or a Note 10 model. The list of discounted products includes a wireless charger, Galaxy Tab S5e, AKG Y500 headset, Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Friends Cover, and Clear View Cover.

Frankly, none of the discounts are attractive enough to trigger an impulse purchase, but if you were already planning to buy any of these devices, then the discounts may result in sizeable savings. Recent update breaks fingerprint registration on Samsung Galaxy A50

A recent update for the Galaxy A50 seems to break the fingerprint registration process on the device, despite improved fingerprint recognition being the purported benefit of the update.

Only a few days ago, an update was supposed to improve fingerprint recognition on the Galaxy A50. As usual, the changelog of the update advised the user to re-register fingerprint in order to benefit from the new software. However, since then, we’ve received many reports about the registration process being broken in firmware versions A505FNXXS3ASK9 and A505FDDS3ASK8.

For many users, things work normally until the registration process reaches 41 percent completion, GalaxyClub reports. It either takes many attempts to finish the process, or the device breaks it off with a notification: ‘Make sure the fingerprint sensor is clean and dry, then try again’. Other users report finishing the process, only to have their A50 reject the freshly registered fingerprints. We have managed to reproduce these issues on our own device, confirming user reports from various countries.

No solution for the problems yet

There is no doubt the recent update contains a bug, causing these problems to emerge. Thankfully, this means the solution can also be brought to the phone by means of another update. It is up to Samsung to fix this bug and roll out a solution. For now, we can only advise you to keep using your old fingerprint registrations, in case you have not yet deleted those, as they seem to work fine. Alternatively, you can use other methods to protect your Galaxy A50, such as facial recognition, PIN or password.

Galaxy A51 launch may not be far off as support pages appear

The official launch of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A51 may come sooner than expected, as the first support pages for the device have appeared on the manufacturer’s own website.

In recent weeks we have learned many details about Samsung’s next mid-range king, the Galaxy A51. Earlier this week, a fresh set of renders showed the phone in full, sporting a quad rear camera, tiny bezels, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Still, with the phone running Android 10 out of the box, we more or less expected it to debut after the Galaxy S11, in February or March 2020. After all, that was Samsung’s playbook earlier this year with the Galaxy A50 and the Galaxy S10.

However, as GalaxyClub points out, Samsung Russia is already preparing for the A51’s launch by publishing the device’s first support pages. This would be right on time for a launch in, say, December, but unusually early for a launch in the spring of 2020. Of course, for years new devices in the A series were launched in December, a pattern only broken with this year’s generation. In other words, a December launch of the Galaxy A51 would not be out of the ordinary.

Still, Samsung unveiling a non-flagship phone running Google’s latest Android version would be somewhat of a novelty for the Korean company. After all, until 2019, new Galaxy A devices often launched with an older version of the OS. This silly habit was finally thrown out with the arrival of the Galaxy A50, and the A51 will not undo this, regardless of when Samsung unveils the device.

New Android 10 beta update released for the Galaxy S10, download now!

Samsung has released a new Android 10-based One UI 2.0 beta update for the Galaxy S10 series. This is the fourth Android 10 beta for Germany, South Korea, and the US, where the beta program was first launched, and the third beta for all other markets, such as India, Poland, France, Spain, and the UK.

The update should soon be rolling out in all these countries over the air (it is already live in Germany), comes with software version G97**XXU3ZSK9, and fixes a slew of bugs. You can download it on your S10e/S10/S10+ by tapping the Download and install option in the Software update menu of the phone’s Settings app.

The list of bug fixes for the latest beta update is shorter than previous updates, suggesting that Samsung is much closer to having the stable Android 10 update ready. In fact, Samsung has closed the Android 10 beta program in South Korea, which is another indication that the stable release might be around the corner. However, since these are beta updates, nothing is certain, especially if the latest beta introduces new issues that need fixing with another beta update.

Galaxy 10th Anniversary Package gets you three great Samsung devices

Samsung has announced that it will launch a bundle of three of the best Galaxy devices it has launched this year called the Galaxy 10th Anniversary Premium Package to celebrate the holiday season and how the company has “broken new ground in design, engineering, and innovation” over the last decade. The Anniversary Premium Package includes a Galaxy Note 10+, a Galaxy Watch Active 2, and the Galaxy Buds, and it will also come with Samsung’s official Note 10+ silicon case and a couple of straps for the Watch Active 2.

Samsung hasn’t revealed any pricing details, only saying that the Anniversary Premium Package will be available in select markets later this month. We’re assuming the bundle will cost as much as it would cost for you to buy the Note 10+, Watch Active 2, and Galaxy Buds individually, and the silicon case and watch straps will be thrown in as freebies. That would not make the Anniversary Premium Package very special, but it would be a neat way for Samsung to get people started in its ecosystem by offering three solid devices in a single box.

The Galaxy Note 10+ is a big, beautiful and powerful flagship that has many impressive features, like a big screen in a compact design, great cameras, powerful performance, a big battery, and, of course, the S Pen. The Galaxy Buds offer excellent sound quality (as far as wireless earphones are concerned) and fit right in with a Note 10+, what with the lack of a headphone jack on the latest Note. The Galaxy Watch Active 2, meanwhile, is Samsung’s best smartwatch yet, and you can see why we think so in our official review.

Samsung Android 10 release nears as One UI 2.0 beta closed in Korea

Exactly a month after launching the Galaxy S10 Android 10 One UI 2.0 beta program, Samsung has closed beta registrations in South Korea. It has only done that for the Galaxy S10, though, as beta registrations for the Galaxy Note 10 are still being accepted.

South Korea was the first market where Samsung launched the One UI 2.0 beta and later expanded it to more markets. So it’s entirely possible that we’ll see beta registrations being closed in other markets as well in the coming days.

Things are looking up for the official Samsung Android 10 release

Samsung released the third beta firmware for the Galaxy S10 series just last week. It closed registrations for the beta at midnight on November 14. Galaxy S10 owners in South Korea will no longer be able to sign up for the beta program.

Just because it has closed the One UI 2.0 beta doesn’t mean that Samsung may not release additional beta firmware. It has likely filled up all the spots and doesn’t feel the need to expand the program to more users.

It’s also an indication that the One UI 2.0 beta program has been progressing nicely. The Galaxy S10 series will certainly be the first to get the official Samsung Android 10 release. The company hasn’t confirmed as yet when it intends to do that. However, it’s not going to be long now before it finally starts rolling out the stable version.

There’s an expectation that Samsung will be able to do this before the end of this year. It did release Android Pie over the holidays last year. So keep your fingers crossed, we just might be in for another Christmas miracle.
