Get a taste of the Galaxy Book series with these official wallpapers

The Galaxy Book’s Super AMOLED display was one of the things that caught our eye during our hands-on session with the Galaxy Book Pro 360, and as you would expect, the gorgeous design and the exquisite Super AMOLED panels are matched by a series of stunning wallpapers. We now offer these wallpapers for our readers to download, though admittedly they might not look as gorgeous on other display types.

The wallpapers look very familiar because although they are new, they follow Samsung’s design language that was established a few years ago. They consist of flowing shapes made up of sand-like particles that reflect various shades of blue, purple, turquoise, red, and magenta on a black background.

The background was likely chosen because of the Super AMOLED panel’s fantastic contrast ratio and its ability to recreate very deep shades of black by shutting down individual pixels. The Galaxy Book series comes with 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch FHD displays.

Samsung customers who might plan on buying one of the new Galaxy Book laptops will have to wait until May 14 before they’ll be able to enjoy these wallpapers on their original screens. Until then, they can download the images from the galleries above and below.

Galaxy Tab A7 Lite wallpapers leak but the tablet keeps eluding us

You may have forgotten all about the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite given all the recent exciting news surrounding the Galaxy Book laptop lineup, but Samsung’s low-cost tablet should still be on its way for a market release this year. And although we haven’t heard much about the tablet lately, new evidence of its existence emerged today in the form of four official Galaxy Tab A7 Lite wallpapers brought to you by our Telegram community.

A couple of the wallpapers at hand have been previously spotted in leaked device renders, while two of them are fresh variations of the existing designs. The wallpapers are based on Samsung’s colorful organic shapes that have inspired the company’s design team for a few years now.

The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is expected to ship with an 8.4-inch Full HD display, and the leaked wallpapers should have the correct aspect ratio (accounting for home screen scrolling). The final images will have a higher resolution but SamMobile readers can download the compressed image files from the gallery below. The tablet itself should be released in at least two color options — black and silver — though it remains unclear exactly when and where it will debut.

Galaxy Book Pro series pre-order deals include free Galaxy Buds Pro

Samsung’s new Galaxy Book series is official and it won’t be long before customers will be able to buy three out of the four models that were introduced at Galaxy Unpacked today. The Galaxy Book Odyssey will be released later this year — in August — but the Galaxy Book, Galaxy Book Pro, and Galaxy Book Pro 360 are coming sooner.

A lot sooner, in fact, as the Galaxy Book Pro and Pro 360 are already available for pre-order in the USA from Samsung’s online store.

The company has now revealed a few attractive deals for early Galaxy Book Pro customers and prices can be lowered through the usual trade-in deals. However, customers can also benefit from additional discounts when pre-ordering the Galaxy Book Pro series from Amazon, Best Buy, or its own shops.

A chance to get the Galaxy Buds Pro for free

As of this writing, neither Amazon nor Best Buy are offering the Galaxy Book Pro series online, but pre-orders should open today and last until May 13. Customers who will pre-order through Amazon will receive $150 in future credit, while Best Buy customers will receive a $150 gift certificate.

As for customers who order from Samsung.com or the company’s Experience Stores, they’ll receive either a $150 eCertificate or a pair of Galaxy Buds Pro earbuds for free. They’re Samsung’s latest wireless earbuds and, in case you need to catch up, you can learn all about them in our review.

Samsung has also prepared incentives for Galaxy Book Pro customers who might miss out on the pre-order window. The company is offering $100 in future credit through Amazon, Best Buy, or its own e-shop to customers who will buy one of the Galaxy Book Pro laptops between May 14 and May 30.

A month into Android 11, the Galaxy A70s is getting a new security update

Samsung’s been releasing the May security patch for a couple of days now, but the company isn’t done with the previous updates yet. While the Galaxy Note 20 is now getting the latest security update, Samsung is also rolling out the April 2021 security patch to an older and not-as-costly device — the Galaxy A70s.

The new update is is rolling out in India and Galaxy A70s owners can identify it by firmware version A707FDDS3CUD1. It’s just a security update and it shouldn’t include any other extra features or changes to the user experience. However, it hasn’t been that long since the Galaxy A70s was updated to Android 11, so that’s to be expected, and the majority of users should have already experienced One UI 3.1 and all the new features by now.

As for the May 2021 security patch, Samsung hasn’t revealed an official changelog yet so your guess as to what issues it might address is as good as ours. It can’t be bad though, so Galaxy A70s owners who haven’t received the update notification yet should be able to download the new firmware from the Software update menu inside the Settings app on their phones.

Galaxy A70s owners who may want to skip the wait can visit our firmware archive where we upload official Samsung software regularly. You can download the latest firmware update for the Galaxy A70s in India, and we’ve also released a new tool that lets our readers check whether their smartphone is running the latest security patch.

Galaxy Book Pro and Pro 360 launch prices are finally here

After a couple of weeks of teasing its most powerful Galaxy device yet, Samsung took the veil off the new Galaxy Book series earlier today, complete with launch price details for the US market. As of this writing, the new Galaxy Book lineup, beginning with the 15.6-inch Galaxy Book model, is set to debut for $549.

Although initial rumors indicated that Samsung’s most budget-conscious Galaxy Book model will go on sale for less than $400, that doesn’t seem to be the case. At least not yet / not for the models whose prices got unveiled today, and we’re not certain that other variants will be released anytime soon.

In any case, the entry-level price is set at $549 for the 15.6-inch Galaxy Book model. There was no 13.3-inch Galaxy Book variant at Galaxy Unpacked, so $549 might be the lowest we’ll ever get.

Then there’s the 13.3-inch Galaxy Book Pro, which will hit the shelves for $999, and finally we have the 13.3-inch Galaxy Book Pro 360 2-in-1 model, which will go on sale for the starting price of $1,199. Both the Galaxy Book Pro and the Galaxy Book Pro 360 will also be available with larger 15.6-inch AMOLED displays and you can expect those variants to hit the shelves at higher prices.

Of course, these price tags correspond to the basic configurations, but opting for more powerful components and additional memory will lead to higher costs. The Galaxy Book trio will go on sale from May 14. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted as soon as more pricing and availability details emerge.

This is what the Galaxy Book Odyssey with GeForce RTX graphics costs

Tech launch events rarely hold any surprises nowadays, but somehow Samsung had managed to keep one new Galaxy device under wraps up until today when it was unveiled for the first time at Galaxy Unpacked April 2021. As expected, the device is part of the Galaxy Book family, and surprisingly enough, it’s not an entry-level device that Samsung was able to keep in secret. On the contrary, the Galaxy Book Odyssey is the costlier model from the bunch.

Samsung revealed today that the basic Galaxy Book model will go on sale for $549, whereas the Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360 with 13.3-inch displays will hit the shelves for $999 and $1,199, respectively.

In contrast, Samsung confirmed that it will release the 15.6-inch Galaxy Book Odyssey for the starting price of $1,399, making it the costlier model from the series. And in case you’re wondering why it costs more than the Galaxy Book Pro / Pro 360, well, it’s all about the specs.

The Galaxy Book Odyssey is a top-tier ultrabook equipped with an 11th Gen Intel Core i5 / i7 processor, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 or RTX 3050Ti graphics chip. It’s powered by an 83Wh battery and it ships with a 135W USB Type-C charger in the retail box. The Odyssey will be available in August, though Samsung has yet to reveal an exact date.
