Galaxy M32 goes on sale in India with cashback offers

Samsung had announced the launch of the Galaxy M32 for the Indian market last week. Today, the company has started selling the smartphone in India. The Galaxy M32 can be purchased via Amazon.in, Samsung’s official online store, and all the popular retail stores across the country.

The Galaxy M32 is priced at INR 14,999 (around $200) for the variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage costs INR 16,999 (around $230). The company is offering an instant cashback of INR 1,250 when the purchase is made using an ICICI credit or debit card. You can get an additional discount of INR 300 via the Samsung 20K Advantage program. The Galaxy M32 is available in two colors: Black and Light Blue.

Galaxy M32 specs, features

You should read our review of the Galaxy M32 before you buy the smartphone. It features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The device runs Android 11 with One UI 3.1. It is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G80 processor, 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot (up to 1TB).

The Galaxy M32 features a 20MP selfie camera. At the rear, it has a quad-camera setup, featuring a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide sensor, a 2MP depth camera, and a 2MP macro sensor. It tops out at 1080p 30fps video recording. Its connectivity features include GPS, 4G LTE, dual-SIM card slots, GPS, Wi-Fi b/g/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. A 6,000mAh battery powers the phone and is compatible with 25W fast charging.

The Snapdragon 888+ is here, but will it power a Samsung phone?

Qualcomm has finally unveiled the Snapdragon 888+ 5G mobile chipset. The unveiling was done during the first day of the MWC (Mobile World Congress) Barcelona 2021 event. The new processor is a slightly higher binned version of the Snapdragon 888 processor, which was launched earlier this year, and comes with higher clock speeds.

The Snapdragon 888+ is still made using Samsung Foundry’s 5nm LPE process. It features an octa-core CPU, featuring a Cortex-X1 core clocked at 1.995GHz instead of the Snapdragon 888’s 2.84GHz clock speed. That’s a 5% improvement in the clock speed of the prime CPU core. The new chipset keeps the three Cortex-A78 CPU cores at 2.42GHz and four Cortex-A55 CPU cores at 1.8GHz, similar to the Snapdragon 888.

Snapdragon 888+ doesn’t bring any improvement in graphics performance over the Snapdragon 888

Unlike previous years where Qualcomm’s mid-year flagship refresh came with a boost in the GPU’s clock speed, the Snapdragon 888+’s Adreno 660 GPU is still running at the same clock speed (840MHz) as that of the Snapdragon 888. So, there won’t be any improvement in gaming performance.

The Snapdragon 888+ comes with an upgrade in AI performance: 32 TOPS (Trillion Operations Per Second) across the CPU, GPU, Tensor cores, and HVX). In comparison, the vanilla Snapdragon 888 has 26 TOPS of AI performance. The new chipset is compatible with LPDDR5 quad-channel RAM at 3200MHz and a memory bandwidth of 51.2Gbps.

The Spectra 580 ISP can process image feeds from three different camera sensors simultaneously. It can capture 4K 60fps videos and 64MP still photos at the same time. It can also record 8K 30fps videos and 4K 120fps slow-motion videos. The Snapdragon 888+ can decode and encode Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG videos.

It comes integrated with the Snapdragon X60 5G modem that supports mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G networks. When it combines the mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G networks, it can theoretically reach maximum download speeds of up to 7.5Gbps and upload speeds of up to 3Gbps.

Will Samsung launch Galaxy phones powered by the Snapdragon 888+ processor?

ASUS, Honor, Vivo, and Xiaomi have announced that they will launch smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 888+ processor later this year, but Samsung has not made any such promises. While the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 are expected to use the Snapdragon 888+ processor, the Galaxy S21 FE might not end up using it.

Samsung’s first Snapdragon 778G phone could be the Galaxy M52 5G

Samsung has launched multiple mid-range smartphones over the past few months, and it turns out, the company isn’t done with them yet. The South Korean smartphone giant appears to be working on one more mid-range device that hasn’t been made official, and it could be launched later this year.

A new Galaxy smartphone with model number SM-M526BR has appeared in Geekbench’s database for the first time. Going by its model number, Samsung could call this device Galaxy M52 5G. The phone, which appears to be running Android 11, has scored 777 points in Geekbench 5.1’s single-core CPU test and 2,868 points in the multi-core CPU test.

Interestingly, the motherboard of the device is termed ‘Lahaina,’ which is the codename that appears in phones with the Snapdragon 888 processor. We thought that the M52 5G will feature a Snapdragon 888 processor, but when we dug deeper, we found that the identifier, CPU frequencies, and the GPU (Adreno 642L) of the processor match with the Snapdragon 778G, which makes all of this a bit confusing.

The Snapdragon 778G is not Qualcomm’s flagship chipset, but it is still a proper high-end processor built using TSMC’s 6nm process. It features one Cortex-A78 CPU core clocked at 2.4GHz, three Cortex-A78 CPU cores clocked at 2.2GHz, and four Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 1.9GHz. It uses the Adreno 642L GPU that is capable of pushing Full HD+ 144Hz displays with HDR10+ and running AAA gaming titles at high refresh rates.

A few days ago, the HONOR 50 Pro, which features the Snapdragon 778G processor, was leaked with the mention of ‘Lahaina’ as its motherboard. So, it is possible that the Galaxy M52 5G actually uses a Snapdragon 778G processor and 6GB RAM. Whatever the case is, we should know more about this interesting smartphone over the next few weeks.

Samsung on track to break another record this year

It seems that breaking records comes naturally to Samsung. Then again, the company does make some great high quality products that customers are happy to spend their money on. This increases demand for its products and results in record high sales.

Samsung is the world’s largest TV vendor. It invests heavily in improving its display panel technology to hold on to that top spot. The company’s latest high-end TV series is on track to post record sales this year.

Pent-up demand driving record sales of Samsung TVs

Samsung has sold over 4 million units of its QLED TVs in the first half of this year. It’s closer now than ever before to achieve the record of 10 million units sold per year for the first time. Samsung’s 2021 NEO QLED TV series is selling particularly well in the company’s home country of South Korea.

An electronics industry source claims that this year’s flagship TV lineup is selling twice as fast as last year’s lineup. If this trend continues and Samsung sees sustained sales momentum in other countries, Samsung will easily achieve the record of 10 million units sold within the year.

This will be a big record, especially when you consider that the QLED TVs have sold over 20 million units combined since they were first introduced in 2017. Samsung is now on track to achieve 50% of that with just one flagship TV series in one year.

The current market dynamics are working in Samsung’s favor. The COVID19 pandemic brought an increase in demand for TVs as people across the globe were confined to their homes. Other TV manufacturers have been facing issues meeting demand due to the semiconductor shortage. However, Samsung has kept its supply chain situation under control, but it does fear that a prolonged shortage could end up affecting TV sales in the long run.

This Galaxy S22 Ultra concept is an absolute stunner

We are still eight months away from the possible Galaxy S22 launch, but some features and rumors of the upcoming flagship smartphones have already started hitting the internet. Now, fan-made renders of the Galaxy S22 Ultra have been published, showcasing a stunning design and a huge camera sensor on the rear.

Galaxy S22 Ultra render images published by LetsGoDigital showcase how Samsung could implement a bigger quad-camera setup on the rear and thin down the bezels around the screen even further. Since the rumors of the Galaxy S22 Ultra featuring an under-display selfie camera have been quashed already, these renders showcase a Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with extremely thin bezels and rounded corners. There is S Pen compatibility, too, but no dedicated silo for it.

Galaxy S22 Ultra concept renders show a giant 200MP Olympus camera sensor

There have been rumors of Samsung collaborating with Olympus on the camera part for its future Galaxy flagships, and this render takes that into consideration. On the rear, there appears to be a giant 200MP Olympus camera sensor, an ultrawide camera, a telephoto camera, a continuous zoom periscope camera, and laser autofocus. The phone’s renders are showcased in five colors: black, blue, green, red, and white.

Another interesting aspect seen in these Galaxy S22 Ultra renders is an active cooling fan inside to keep the Exynos 2200’s temperature in check even during heavy tasks like gaming. However, we don’t think Samsung will implement that feature in the Galaxy S22 Ultra. There is a USB Type-C port on the bottom but no 3.5mm headphone jack. The whole design seems to be largely inspired by the Galaxy S21 Ultra but accommodates a bigger camera and has thinner bezels.

Is Samsung bringing the Snapdragon 888 to a mid-range phone soon?

In what could be the most interesting bit of news this month, it looks like Samsung could be working on bringing this year’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon processor to a mid-range phone. We’ve known for a few weeks that Samsung is working on a Galaxy M52 5G, and a device with a model number (SM-M526BR) that’s likely to belong to the M52 5G has now shown up on the Geekbench database, seemingly with the Snapdragon 888 chipset under the hood.

Or, well, an as-yet-unannounced variant of the Snapdragon 888, as the processor specs shown in the phone’s benchmark listing don’t match those of the Snapdragon 888. Geekbench says the tested device had two quad-core clusters, while the Snapdragon 888 has a single ultra-performance core, a cluster of three high-performance cores, and another made up of four low-power cores.

A mysterious new Snapdragon 888 processor just for Samsung?

Yet, the codename for the chipset (lahaina) matches that of the Snapdragon 888, suggesting it’s either a fake listing or an error caused the benchmark to report the wrong CPU information. Either way, it seems rather impossible that Samsung would bring the latest flagship Snapdragon chip to a mid-range phone, especially when chip shortages have already forced the company to delay the Galaxy S21 FE and outright cancel a 2021 Galaxy Note flagship.

For now, there’s too little information to be completely sure about what Samsung is planning. Thankfully, we do have some believable new details about the Galaxy M52 5G at our hands, thanks to our friends over at GalaxyClub (who also spotted the benchmark listing on Geekbench). The M52 5G will reportedly be coming to some European markets with blue, black, and white color options. A launch in India is no doubt on the cards as well, though a time frame for when the phone will go official is currently unknown.

As for the M52 5G’s spec sheet, we can expect it to share a lot of its hardware with the Galaxy A52 5G. In fact, barring the mysterious chipset, the M52 5G may well be exactly the same as the Galaxy A52 5G, just like the Galaxy M42 5G turned out to be a rebranded Galaxy A42 5G (but with newer software), though we will have to wait and see.

Galaxy J7 Nxt will turn four packing the latest security update there is

Remember the Galaxy J7 Nxt? Samsung does, and so does its security team, who worked hard on the best birthday gift there is: peace of mind. The June 2021 security patch has started making its way to select Galaxy J7 Nxt models in Argentina and Thailand. This particular software release is identified by model number J701FXXUACUE5 or J701MUBUBCUE1. Given how it’s targeting the international model of the modestly-specced 2017 device, expect to see it in your vicinity sooner rather than later.

Oh, and while you shouldn’t confuse the Galaxy J7 Nxt for the Galaxy J7 (2017), we won’t blame you if you do. After all, the latter has also started receiving the very latest security update from Samsung this past weekend. These two entry-level handsets from forever ago are enjoying a better level of support than the latest flagships from Xiaomi, OPPO, and co. By several orders of magnitude, mind you.

As for the update at hand, the June 2021 security patch level has been rolling out worldwide for just over a month now. Throughout that period, Samsung initiated 147 other deployments across 36 countries, present company not included. As always, you can try to speed things up a bit by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Right now, this method is most likely to work if you’re located in Thailand or Argentina.

Otherwise, your best best is to proceed to our firmware archives, download the full system images for your Galaxy J7 Nxt and flash them to the device manually. If you’re itching to get your hands on the update ASAP, that is.
