Here’s how much the Galaxy Z Flip 3 could cost

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is expected to be unveiled in early August 2021, but its design and features were leaked a few days ago. We had exclusively revealed that the upcoming clamshell-style phone from Samsung will be more affordable than its predecessor. Now, the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s price has been tipped.

According to tipster @FrontTron, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 price could be $1,249 for the variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. That’s $100 cheaper compared to the original Galaxy Z Flip’s pricing ($1,349) and it goes in line with our exclusive report. It is not clear if Samsung would launch a variant of the smartphone with higher RAM or storage capacity. The upcoming smartphone could be launched in four colors: beige/white, black, olive green, and purple.

Despite its lower pricing, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will bring various improvements over its predecessor. The phone will feature a larger, 1.9-inch Super AMOLED cover display, and its 6.7-inch foldable display is expected to gain a 120Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 will also come equipped with a faster, Snapdragon 888 processor with 5G connectivity. There won’t likely be a 4G-only model, at least initially.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is expected to feature a 12MP+12MP dual-camera setup on the outside and a 10MP selfie camera on the inside. It could run Android 11-based One UI 3.1.1 out of the box. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint reader, an IP rating for dust and water resistance, and wireless charging. GPS, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and stereo speakers are also expected on the phone.

Samsung had collaborated with American fashion designer Thom Browne to launch limited-edition variants of the Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Z Fold 2, and those devices sold out quickly despite their sky-high prices. The company hasn’t announced if it will continue its partnership with the luxury fashion brand for the Galaxy Z Flip 3, but some stunning concept images showcase how such a device could look like.

LetsGoDigital has published concept renders of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Thom Browne Edition, and it looks classy yet stunning. The concept images showcase the signature Thom Browne tri-color stripe on the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s front and rear. We can also see the upcoming foldable smartphone’s dual-camera setup with LED flash, a larger OLED cover display, Samsung branding on the hinge, USB Type-C port, SIM card slot, loudspeaker, and the side-mounted fingerprint reader.

Going by previous leaks and reports, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will feature a 6.7-inch foldable Super AMOLED Infinity-O display and a 1.9-inch Super AMOLED cover display. The device will reportedly be equipped with the Snapdragon 888 processor, 8GB RAM, and 256GB internal storage. It will most likely run Android 11-based One UI 3.1.1 out of the box. We had exclusively revealed that it would come with an IP rating for dust and water resistance.

Here’s your 360-degree look at the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic

Samsung will unveil its next-generation smartwatches—Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic—next month. However, ahead of the official announcement, the design, features, and pricing of both smartwatches have been leaked extensively. The first video of the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic has surfaced, showcasing its design in full.

360-degree videos of the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic were published by popular leakster Evan Blass (a.k.a @evleaks). The videos show the upcoming smartwatch in three colors: black, silver, and white. The Galaxy Watch 4 features a circular Super AMOLED display, two buttons on the right side, a rotating bezel, and removable silicone straps. The black version of the watch has a black case, while the silver and white versions of the smartwatch have a silver case. The button on the top has a red accent, which means that it will be available in an LTE variant.

Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic features

Samsung has already announced that its next smartwatches will run Wear OS 3.0 (tentative naming) with faster performance, smoother UI, thousands of apps and watch faces, and improved battery life. Going by previous leaks, the Galaxy Watch 4 lacks the rotating bezel. Both watches are expected to feature an accelerometer, barometer, GPS, gyro, heart rate monitor, sleep tracking, and SpO2 measurement.

They will reportedly feature an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, loudspeaker and microphone, NFC, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 247mAh battery (on the base variant). The Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic are also expected to feature Qi wireless charging.

Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019) gets Android 11 update ahead of schedule

Samsung has updated most of its smartphones and tablets to Android 11 over the past six months. However, there are a few devices that are yet to receive the update. Now, the company has started rolling out the Android 11 update to the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019) in a few Asian, European, and South American markets.

The latest software update for the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (SM-T515 and SM-T515N) brings Android 11 along with the June 2021 security patch. The firmware version for the South Korean market is T515NKSU8CUF6. For Asian and European markets, the latest firmware versions for the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 are T515XXU8CUF2 and T515XXU8CUF4.

The new update should bring refreshed UI design, one-time permissions, auto permissions reset, chat bubbles, easier access to smart home controls, the ability to remove GPS location data from images, improved stock apps, improved Samsung Internet and Samsung Keyboard, more lockscreen options, a dedicated media player widget below quick setting toggles, and a conversations section in the notifications area.

This One UI 4.0 rumor is frustratingly vague

One UI 4.0 is going to be the next major upgrade for Samsung’s custom Android interface. It will accompany Android 12, which Google and some other manufacturers are currently letting their users test before the public release later this year. Samsung will run its own One UI 4.0 beta program if history is any guide, but could that beta program start as early as next week?

Well, that’s the conclusion some are jumping to following the latest post from leakster Ice universe on Chinese microblogging website Weibo. The post simply says that “One UI 4 will start to explode next week”, and it’s frustratingly vague. The company has been testing One UI 4.0 and Android 12 for the Galaxy S21 series for a couple of weeks, and perhaps it will double down on development over the next few days and start testing it on more devices? Perhaps it means we’re getting an extremely early beta program? Well, it’s impossible to be sure.

If we’re being honest, we don’t think Samsung will let us test One UI 4.0 so soon, considering even Google is in the early stages of beta testing Android 12 on Pixel smartphones. Maybe we will be proven wrong – Samsung has been making great strides in its software update game in the last year or so, after all. But we’re pretty sure we won’t. Even One UI 3.1.1 is yet to arrive, so there’s no way One UI 4.0 will start hitting Galaxy devices any time soon, either in beta or stable form.

As it moves to Wear OS, Samsung wants owners of its first Android watch to switch to Tizen

Samsung’s return to an Android-based operating system for its smartwatches is happening later this year, with the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Active set to run Wear OS instead of Samsung’s Tizen OS. This move is going to, among other things, bring much needed access to a wider selection of apps for Samsung’s smartwatches, but the company will not be switching over existing watches running Tizen to Wear OS, a move that has attracted criticism from some of its diehard fans.

No more apps for you if you continue to use Android on your Galaxy Gear

This is in stark contrast to what Samsung did when it moved from Android to Tizen for its smartwatches. The first Galaxy smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, which ran a custom version of Android, was given an update to Tizen. And, well, Samsung thinks customers who are still hanging on to that watch have had enough time to do the operating system switch and is going to require them to upgrade their watch to Tizen in order to continue using the Galaxy Store for downloading apps, at the same time it’s going to switch back to Android with its new watches.

Come August 5, Samsung will stop offering Galaxy Store support on the Galaxy Gear, meaning apps and other services will cease to be a thing. However, Samsung says customers can upgrade to Tizen to continue using the Galaxy Store. It’s hard to say how many folks out there are still rocking a Galaxy Gear  — which came out in 2013 — and haven’t installed the Tizen OS update in all these years, but the number clearly isn’t zero or Samsung wouldn’t be making this announcement all these years later.

If you do own a Galaxy Gear and update it to Tizen, your watch will be reset and all its data removed, so if you took any covert pictures or videos with its camera, you might want to back them up before performing the upgrade. Some apps will also not be available or work after Tizen is installed, which is one of the biggest reasons why Samsung is returning to Android in the first place. Talk about irony, eh?
