Leak reveals Samsung Android 12 One UI 4.0 update changes

Samsung fans are looking forward to the One UI 4.0 beta that will give them a glimpse of Android 12 as well. The company is yet to launch the beta. It appears that the beta may be launched much earlier than expected.

Some information about the next major update has now surfaced. It reveals some of the cosmetic changes that Samsung is going to introduce with One UI 4.0.

Big cosmetic changes claimed for One UI 4.0

Samsung does make some cosmetic changes to every major release of One UI. So it was already expected that visual enhancements will be part and parcel of the One UI 4.0 update. Precisely what these changes will were previously a mystery.

According to a new leak, One UI 4.0 will include changes to the app icons and color scheme. It will apparently be somewhat similar to the vanilla Android 12 look. It’s even claimed that Samsung will adapt the Android 12 Material You UI for its custom One UI skin.

Software optimizations will be made for improved performance with the Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100 shipments. Samsung will make minor Knox improvements as well. A major update for the Samsung Notes app is said to be in the pipeline as well. That might be due to a lot more Samsung devices supporting the S Pen now.

Do keep in mind that none of this has been officially confirmed as yet. We’ll only come to know for sure about all of the One UI 4.0 changes once the beta goes live. It has emerged from Samsung’s own official forums today that the Android 12 One UI 4.0 beta could go live in about a month or so.

The beta is going to be limited to select Samsung devices. The company will eventually make the update available to all One UI 4.0 compatible devices once the public release takes place.

Here’s how much the powerful Galaxy A52s could cost in Europe

Three weeks ago, it was revealed that Samsung has been working on a new Galaxy A52 model. It was reported that the Galaxy A52s could soon be launched in South Korea. It is now being reported that the smartphone would also be launched in European markets, and its pricing has been revealed.

According to a new report from 91Mobiles, the Galaxy A52s will be launched in Europe with a price tag of €449. The device will be available in a 128GB storage variant, but there could be other variants as well. Two days ago, it was confirmed that the Galaxy A52s would come equipped with the flagship-grade Snapdragon 778G processor.

The Snapdragon 778G chipset features four ARM Cortex-A78 CPU cores, four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores, and the Adreno 642L GPU. It is a 6nm processor that’s made by TSMC. It can drive Full HD displays at 144Hz and comes with a fully integrated 5G modem that supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz networks. It also features GPS, WI-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2.

The Galaxy A52s was spotted in Geekbench’s database, revealing that it will run Android 11 out of the box. It had scored 771 points in the single-core CPU test and 2,788 points in the multi-core CPU test. The phone will come in two variants, one with 6GB RAM and the other with 8GB RAM. It could carry the same display, camera, and battery specs as that of the Galaxy A52.

How will you store the S Pen on the Galaxy Z Fold 3? Here’s your answer

The S Pen was exclusive to the Galaxy Note series of flagships for a decade until Samsung finally decided to bring support for the stylus to other flagship lineups this year. The Galaxy S21 Ultra was the first non-Note flagship from Samsung to support the S Pen, and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is set to become the second such device to do so.

But unlike Note smartphones, neither the Galaxy S21 Ultra nor the Galaxy Z Fold 3 get a built-in slot to store the S Pen, and Samsung made a first-party case to tackle that problem. And today, renders of the official S Pen case for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 have leaked online, showing a design that is a lot smarter than what you see on the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s S Pen case.

The Z Fold 3’s S Pen case will hold the stylus in the middle, right behind the area where the folding action takes place. The result? A case that’s not as wide or unwieldy, and one that a lot more people will be comfortable putting in their pockets. It’s still not a great alternative to a built-in S Pen slot, mind, but again, it’s a lot better than what you get with the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

OnePlus Buds Pro are here to challenge the Galaxy Buds Pro

The Galaxy Buds Pro have been the go-to recommendation for many Android smartphone users (especially Galaxy device owners) who want truly wireless earbuds with ANC, compact design, good audio quality, and long battery life. However, OnePlus is challenging the Galaxy Buds Pro with the OnePlus Buds Pro, the company’s first ‘Pro’-grade truly wireless earbuds.

The OnePlus Buds Pro were unveiled a few days ago alongside the OnePlus Nord 2 5G. These new truly wireless earbuds use 11mm dynamic drivers that claim to offer powerful audio with rich bass. They have an in-ear canal design for noise isolation. They use a Bluetooth 5.2 chip that supports SBC, AAC, and LHDC audio codecs. LHDC (Low Latency High-Definition Audio Codec) is similar to Sony’s LDAC and allows a bitrate of up to 990Kbps. LHDC has Hi-Res Audio certification for better audio quality compared to AAC and aptX. OnePlus says the audio latency of its Buds Pro is 94ms, which is higher than that of the Galaxy Buds Pro’s 50ms.

Similar to the Galaxy Buds Pro, the OnePlus Buds Pro have three microphones on each earbud for ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) capabilities to reduce background noise while listening to music and during voice calls. There is a transparency mode as well, similar to Galaxy Buds Pro’s Ambient Sound feature. They have an IP55 rating for dust and sweat resistance. Zen Mode Air can be used for listening to relaxing sounds. Android and iOS smartphone users can use the HeyMelody app for customizing controls, audio tuning, checking the battery level, and updating the firmware.

They have a total battery life of up to 38 hours, as per OnePlus’ claims. The earbuds can last up to 7 hours with ANC turned off and up to 5 hours with ANC turned on with a single charge. That’s longer than what the Galaxy Buds Pro offer. They also feature OnePlus’ Warp Charge feature that helps them last up to 10 hours with just 10 minutes of charging. The charging case supports Qi wireless charging and has a USB Type-C port.

The OnePlus Buds Pro seem to offer higher bitrate audio, a newer Bluetooth version (that could support a more modern LC3 codec), faster charging, and longer battery life when compared to the Galaxy Buds Pro. Moreover, they are priced at just $150, which undercuts the Galaxy Buds Pro’s price by $20 and is similar to the upcoming Galaxy Buds 2. However, it remains to be seen if the OnePlus Buds Pro can match the audio quality of the Galaxy Buds Pro’s dual-driver setup as well as their ANC performance and voice call quality.

Exclusive: Galaxy S22 model numbers revealed

The Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra are the only non-folding flagship phones Samsung is going to launch this year. The Galaxy Note lineup is on a break, and for anyone not interested in Samsung’s upcoming foldables, the Galaxy S22 series is going to be the next big thing.

As we move closer to 2022 and towards the eventual arrival of the Galaxy S22 series, we will see more and more information on the new devices leaking on to the internet. We’ve already heard a few tidbits – the Galaxy S22 could feature up to 65W charging speeds and newer camera sensors, possibly including a 200MP sensor carrying the Olympus branding.

No new Note, but the Galaxy S22 seems to be in development

Whether or not any of the existing rumors will turn out to be true is anyone’s guess, but in the meantime, our sources have come forward with new details to pile on top. We’ve got model numbers of the Galaxy S22 phones: Our sources tell us the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra (tentative names for now) should carry model numbers SM-S901x, SM-S906x, and SM-S908x.

Samsung’s SM-G9xx series of model numbers debuted with the Galaxy S5, which was the SM-G900x, and culminated with the Galaxy S21 smartphones, which are the SM-G991x, SM-G996x, and SM-G998x. For the Galaxy S22, Samsung seems to have changed course – instead of going with something like SM-G1000x, Samsung is switching the G to an S and starting over with the 9xx range of numbers for the next decade of Galaxy S flagships.

These model numbers reveal that all three Galaxy S22 models will come with 5G connectivity as standard, which is to be expected as all of its 2021 flagships are (or will be) 5G-ready as well. Other specs are a mystery for now, though we can expect the new AMD-powered Exynos chipset to be one of the main attractions of the Galaxy S22 lineup whenever it goes official next year (current rumors point at a January launch).
