Galaxy A5 (2018) Infinity Display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio confirmed

It was first reported several weeks ago that the upcoming Galaxy A (2018) devices will feature an Infinity Display. Evidence has now surfaced online which confirms that the Galaxy A5 (2018) Infinity Display will indeed have an 18.5:9 aspect ratio like the Galaxy S8.

The Galaxy S8 was Samsung’s first device with an Infinity Display. It has slim bezels and eliminates the physical home key. If the Galaxy A5 (2018) is getting this then we can reasonably assume that it’s going to be the same for the Galaxy A7 (2018) as well.

Some reports have also suggested that while the Galaxy A5 (2018) will have an Infinity Display, it may not be curved. In that case, it will be similar to the one we find on the Galaxy S8 Active.

The international unlocked variant of the Galaxy A5 (2018) bearing model number SM-A530F has surfaced on the HTML5 Test website.

The listing reveals that this device is being tested with Android 7.1.1 Nougat onboard. That’s in line with previous reports that the Galaxy A (2018) series will come with Nougat out of the box and not Oreo.

The display’s 846 x 412 pixel resolution mentioned in the listing is inaccurate but it does confirm the 18.5:9 aspect ratio. All previous Galaxy A series handsets have a conventional 16:9 aspect ratio display.

This indirectly confirms that the Galaxy A5 (2018) is going to feature an Infinity Display. That means there won’t be a home button on the front. The fingerprint sensor would have to be relocated and it will likely find its way to the back just below the camera.

Samsung is yet to confirm anything about these devices officially. The Galaxy A (2018) series is expected to be launched early next year.

Galaxy Note 8 Tip: Scrolling With the S Pen

It’s pretty easy to take advantage of this feature. Simply hover the S Pen at the top or bottom of the display when you want to scroll up or down.

Do keep in mind that this feature doesn’t work in all third-party apps. It works in Samsung Internet but not in Chrome. It also works in WhatsApp but not in Facebook. This feature can be used to scroll in the Settings menu as well.

The feature isn’t new to the Note lineup but since it hasn’t been highlighted for the Galaxy Note 8 (there’s no setting to toggle it, either), those who are new to the Note family would only have found out about it by chance.

Ahead of the upcoming holiday season, Samsung is launching a Burgundy Red Galaxy S8. The color fits perfectly with the season and will certainly make you want to get one.

There’s just one caveat. Samsung has only announced the Burgundy Red Galaxy S8 for South Korea. It’s unclear if the company is planning to bring this color option to other markets this holiday season. I have a feeling that if it did, it would prove to be very popular.

Deepsea Blue Galaxy Note 8 will be available in the US from November 16

The Galaxy Note 8 was launched with four color options namely Midnight Black, Maple Gold, Deep Sea Blue and Orchid Grey. The company has a habit of not offering all options at launch in all markets. This enables it to nudge sales along by launching a new color option several months after the handset has been released.

That’s precisely what it’s doing with the Deepsea Blue Galaxy Note 8. Samsung today confirmed that customers in the United States will be able to purchase the Galaxy Note 8 in Deepsea Blue starting November 16.

Samsung is launching the Deepsea Blue Galaxy Note 8 in the United States just ahead of the lucrative holiday shopping season. It’s hoping that the new color will lure customers who have been on the fence about purchasing this device.

Customers will be able to choose from Verizon, AT&T and Sprint versions of the device. The Deepsea Blue Galaxy Note 8 will be available exclusively at Best Buy stores and online via Samsung’s website.

The Galaxy Note 8 was initially launched with only two color options in the United States, Orchid Gray and Midnight Black. Deepsea Blue is a great option for customers who’re looking for something a bit different.

Galaxy S9 could enter mass production as soon as next month

The upcoming Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ could enter mass production as soon as next month, according to reliable tipster Ice Universe. If that turns out to be true—and we have no information to doubt the source’s claim—there’s a chance Samsung’s next flagship could hit the shelves a little sooner than expected.

While the prospect of holding the Galaxy S9 before April may excite you, it’s important to consider that the firm would have had to sacrifice crucial research time to bring the production date forward. That has resulted, as noted by The Korea Herald, in Samsung scrapping its plans for an in-display fingerprint reader.

Ice Universe believes that the company has made a number of changes to the rear of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ to make accessing the fingerprint scanner a little more bearable. Recent rumors suggest that they’ll both feature a vertically-mounted dual-camera setup, with a biometric reader located beneath it.
