Samsung accidentally reveals Galaxy S21 FE ahead of launch

The Galaxy S21 FE is coming really soon, and this can be confirmed through the fact that Samsung accidentally published the phone’s name and image on its website, only to take it down shortly after. The device was revealed on Samsung UAE’s website yesterday.

As you can see in the image below, Samsung UAE had accidentally published the Galaxy S21 FE 5G’s support webpage ahead of the phone’s launch, which was spotted by leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks). The webpage revealed the smartphone in its green avatar along with its name and model number (SM-G990E/DS). Going by this information, the company could launch the Exynos 2100 variant of the device in the Middle East region.

Galaxy S21 FE specifications

The Galaxy S21 FE has been leaked several times over the past few months. It has a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with Full HD+ resolution, HDR10+, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone uses either Exynos 2100 or Snapdragon 888 processor, depending on the market. It has 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage.

At the front, the phone has a 32MP selfie camera. At the rear, the device has a 12MP+12MP+8MP triple-camera setup. It has an in-display fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The Galaxy S21 FE is powered by a 4,500mAh battery and supports 25W fast charging and wireless charging. It will be available in black, green, pink, and white color variants.

December 2021 security update rolling out to Galaxy Note 10+ 5G in some markets

Samsung has released the December 2021 security update to a few Galaxy smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. The latest One UI 4.0 beta update for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 includes the December 2021 security patch. The company has started rolling out the security update to the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G in a few markets.

The latest Galaxy Note 10+ 5G software update comes with firmware version N976QXXS5FUK4 in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The new software includes the December 2021 security patch to fix privacy and security-related vulnerabilities. While we don’t have the changelog for the update yet, it might also include general bug fixes and device stability improvements. Other markets could get the update over the next few weeks.

If you are a Galaxy Note 10+ 5G user in the countries mentioned above, you can check for the latest software update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

The South Korean firm had launched the Galaxy Note 10 series in the second half of 2019 with Android 9 Pie onboard. The smartphones in the series got the Android 10 update in late 2019 and the Android 11-based One UI 3 update in late 2020.

Carrier-locked Galaxy S10 getting November 2021 security update in the US

Samsung had released the November 2021 security update to the Galaxy S10 last month. A few days later, the international variants of the smartphone received the update. Then, the update was released to the unlocked models in the US. Now, the carrier-locked models of the Galaxy S10 are finally getting the security update in the US.

The latest software update for the carrier-locked Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and the Galaxy S10+ comes with firmware version G975USQU6GUJ3. The update is currently rolling out on T-Mobile’s network, and other US carriers could release it soon on their networks. It includes the November 2021 security patch that fixes dozens of privacy and security-related vulnerabilities. It might also include general bug fixes and software stability improvements.

If you are using a carrier-locked Galaxy S10 series smartphone in the US, you might have received a notification of the new update. If you haven’t received it yet, you can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our database and flash your phone manually.

Samsung had launched the Galaxy S10 series in 2019 with Android 9 onboard. The devices in the series received the Android 10 update in 2020 and the Android 11 update earlier this year. Indian fans may finally get a Samsung flagship smartphone of their dreams

The Galaxy S22, which will launch in February 2022, is expected to come in two variants. Some countries will get the Exynos 2200 variant of the high-end smartphone, while others will get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 variant. Previous leaks have hinted towards a majority of markets getting the Snapdragon version of the phone in 2022.

Now, a new rumor reveals which variant of the Galaxy S22 we can expect to hit the Indian market.

India could get Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 variant of the Galaxy S22 series

According to tipster @FrontTron, Samsung will launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 versions of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra in India. It is probably the first time Indian Galaxy fans will get access to a Snapdragon variant of a Galaxy S series smartphone. Due to the underwhelming performance of Exynos chips in the past, Indian consumers have demanded the South Korean firm to launch Snapdragon versions of their high-end smartphones in India, and it looks like their dreams may finally turn into reality.

However, the actual reason behind this change in Samsung’s strategy may actually be related to supply chain issues and not consumer demand. It is being rumored that the South Korean smartphone giant may not have enough Exynos 2200 stocks, forcing the firm to launch a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 variant of the Galaxy S22 in the Indian market. Many other countries, which usually get the Exynos versions of Galaxy S series devices, may get the Snapdragon version next year.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 vs Exynos 2200

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was unveiled a few days ago. The chipset is made using Samsung Foundry’s 4nm process and uses ARM’s v9 CPU cores: Cortex-X2, Cortex-A710, and Cortex-A510. The company is quoting performance improvements of 20% in CPU and 30% in gaming. Thanks to carrier aggregation, it features up to 10Gbps 5G download speeds. Other features include HDR gaming, VRS (Variable Rate Shading), raytracing, Wi-Fi 6E, and support for up to 8K 30fps video recording with EIS.

Both Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 use Samsung Foundry’s 4nm fabrication process and ARM’s v9 CPU cores. However, the Exynos 2200 will use the AMD Radeon Mobile GPU based on the new RDNA2 architecture. It has been reported that the AMD GPU inside the chipset will perform faster than the A14 Bionic chipset used in the iPhone 12. It is also being reported that Samsung has put severe throttling issues to the rest with its upcoming chip, but that can only be said for sure after the Galaxy S22’s launch.

Forget the Galaxy S22, I’m excited about a different Samsung phone

This year, the Galaxy S21 Ultra took the crown of the best overall flagship on the market. Despite coming out months after the Galaxy S21 Ultra, devices like the iPhone 13 Pro Max and the Pixel 6 Pro failed to be as good of an all-rounder as Samsung’s top dog. But perhaps a more interesting Galaxy phone than the S21 Ultra in 2021 was the Galaxy A52, Samsung’s star player in its mid-range lineup.

The Galaxy A52 is nothing like the Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A50. Those phones didn’t really have any high-end features, but the Galaxy A52 has plenty of them, including a high refresh rate screen, IP67 water and dust resistance, an optically stabilized main camera, and stereo speakers. It also has a fairly capable Snapdragon chip under the hood instead of something from Samsung’s infamous Exynos series of processors, which makes it an excellent performer for most use cases.

And next year, with the Galaxy A53, Samsung can only fly higher. We’ll certainly see an upgraded Snapdragon chip, a bigger battery is all but certain, and should Samsung decide to add a 3x zoom camera to the A53, it could be the most perfect mid-range phone the company has ever produced. Well, that’s unless you consider a headphone jack a part of a ‘perfect’ package, in which case it could miss the mark.

Still, Samsung has the chance to make the Galaxy A53 extremely exciting, though I guess it probably won’t make the phone as good as it can be. Remember, there’s also the Galaxy A73, and with the Galaxy A72 already having very few advantages over the Galaxy A52, I’m assuming Samsung will want to keep a few things — like a zoom camera — exclusive to the A73 so it has a chance to attract some customers.

But whatever ends up happening, one thing is clear: The Galaxy A53 is the most interesting 2022 Samsung phone for me, and I can’t wait to see what Samsung cooks up. The Galaxy S22 series will probably be great, too, but Samsung’s flagships have been mostly excellent for so long that it’s hard to keep getting excited about them, so my eyes are on the company’s mid-range lineup instead.

Samsung doesn’t offer protective cases for the Galaxy Watch 4 series. But there are a few well-known brands that sell a variety of protective solutions for the latest wearables. Today, we’re taking a look at some of the best and most interesting Galaxy Watch 4 cases available.

Before we begin, it’s worth noting that the market offers more cases for Galaxy Watch 4 than the Classic model. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic already has a protruding physical bezel, so its display has a lower chance of getting damaged during normal use.

The standard Galaxy Watch 4 is more prone to damage from accidental hits than the Classic model, and it’s worth noting that most protective cases partly cover the virtual bezel, making it a bit more difficult to reach. The Spigen Liquid Air case is lighter and doesn’t come with a strap. It’s designed for customers who may need extra protection but don’t want to change the Galaxy Watch 4’s looks too much. The Liquid Air case comes in black and costs $19.99.

Last but not least, Spigen offers the Galaxy Watch 4 Ultra Hybrid case for $24.99. It’s similar to the Liquid Air case in that it covers only the watch, but it has a clear finish.
