After the Samsung Z, the first commercial Tizen handset, it looks like the Korean manufacturer is now working on a low-end Tizen phone. Components for a Tizen handset with model number SM-Z130H (the Z denotes the device is powered by Tizen) have been shipped to India for testing, and the low prices of those components indicate that the phone could be targeted at the extreme budget end of the market. That’s not surprising, since Samsung had announced that Tizen could run on phones with as low as 256 MB of RAM, and a low-end handset would allow consumers to try out the OS without breaking the bank.
However, it remains to be seen if the SM-Z130H will launch in markets anytime soon, given the issues Samsung is continuing to face in its attempt to launch even the Samsung Z, despite an official announcement having taken place weeks ago. Guess we will see what the future holds for Samsung’s in-house OS, though it’s looking rather bleak at the moment.
