A report out of Taiwan claims that Samsung Electronics aims to grow its TV sales target from 50 million in 2014 to 60 million in 2015. This will allow the company to increase profits amid lower sales from Samsung Display. By selling more TVs this year the company will also increase its influence in the TV market. The report claims Samsung has increased TV panel orders to suppliers in China and Taiwan which include Innolux, AU Optronics, BOE and China Star Optoelectronics Technology.
The company will mainly source 39.5, 48, 50, 55 and 65 inch LCD TV panels most of which are likely to be Ultra HD or 4K. These panels will be used in new units which will be released in the second quarter of this year. Panel makers in China and Taiwan expect that Samsung will purchase 33 million panels this year which will account for 55% of its overall TV panel demand.
