We told you the Galaxy Tab A and Tab A Plus tablet lineups were in the works, and Samsung has now announced the former at a press event in Russia. The Galaxy Tab A will be offered in 8-inch and 9.7-inch variants, and as we had confirmed in our exclusive leak, the tablets will have displays with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The Galaxy Tab A lineup will be priced at around Euro 300 and will be launched in blue and gold color variants sometime later this year.
The hardware on the Galaxy Tab A includes displays with a resolution of 1024×768 pixels, an unknown Cortex-A53 processor, 4G connectivity, and 5-megapixel and 2-megapixel rear and front cameras. As our sources told us before, there should also be 16GB of internal storage, and 4,200 mAh and 6,000 mAh batteries on the 8-inch and 9.7-inch variants respectively. Everything is packed under bodies that are only 7.5 mm thick.
Both tablets support wireless charging like the Galaxy S6, and as can be seen in the pictures, they also seem to run on the latest version of TouchWiz, which Samsung says is less bloated and more optimized than previous versions. More information on the Galaxy Tab A should be cropping up as the day goes by, so be sure to tune back in to SamMobile for all the nitty-gritty details.
