Galaxy Xcover 3 now available for US customers via Amazon

Are you bummed by the GS6 Active’s AT&T exclusivity in the US? We don’t blame you. While there’s nothing you can do about the hold AT&T seems to have over this phone in the States, you can find legitimate ways to have your water and dust resistance. One such venue comes from Samsung itself, and is now available via online retailer giant Amazon for less than half the cost of the S6 Active ($695 unlocked).

The Xcover 3 is no Galaxy S6 Active by any means, with its 4.5-inch display, 800 x 480p screen resolution, quad-core Marvell Armada processor, 2MP front camera, 5MP back camera, 8GB of onboard storage, 1.5GB of RAM, and Android KitKat (no Lollipop here, yet). The device is IP67 water-and-dust certified, which means that it’s not technically as resistant as the S6 Active (IP68) that can remain under water for longer periods, but it’ll do for most general water situations.

Due to the exclusive sale of the S6 Active in the US with AT&T, however, keep in mind that the Xcover 3 is an international handset. For those across the ocean and beyond, LTE can be utilized, but American customers won’t be able to make use of it on AT&T and T-Mobile networks (3G maximum). If you can get beyond the low onboard storage of the device and its 3G limitation, US customers, you can pick one up for $300. Any takers?
