Amazon India announces it will sell refurbished Samsung smartphones

Big news from Amazon India as the e-commerce company is going to start selling refurbished devices starting with Samsung and Xiaomi smartphones. This is a big move especially in a region where cheaper devices sell better. If you’re going to order a refurbished device off Amazon India then you’ll get a minimum of 6 months warranty. Initially refurbished deals will be limited to a very select amount of models but it’s probably going to expand in time. It’s worth noting that Xiaomi also teamed up with Overcart a while back so the tech company is used to moves like this. Here’s what Noor Patel, directory category management of Amazon India had to say about this:

Our consumer insights give us enough reason to believe that there is a market in India for quality-assured, brand-refurbished smartphones at value prices. We are starting the refurbished category as a pilot and will scale as we see more feedback from customers. We are confident that the smartphone ecosystem will gear up for more brand-refurbished products in the coming months

Let us know what you think about this move from Amazon India by leaving a comment.

Samsung working with MasterCard to bring Samsung Pay in Europe

Samsung Pay is starting to kick off but unfortunately this service is limited to a very short array of regions. This is why Samsung is now teaming up with MasterCard in hope of bringing this service to Europe. The service recently started as a trial in South Korea, and it’s coming Stateside very soon.

Right now, Samsung Pay is dubbed for a September release in the US as well as South Korea. It’s going to be a little difficult to adopt due to older card readers having difficulties recognizing the magnetic fields generated by smartphones, but Samsung has taken measures to ensure quality. The latest partnership with MasterCard brings its Digital Enablement Service for transactions which is the same tech that powers Apple Pay. Merchants won’t have to upgrade their old hardware either because Samsung will also implement MST which works with older card readers.

We expect to hear more about Samsung Pay at the upcoming Unpacked event which will kick off on the 13th of August. The event will bring forth some new Galaxy devices which ought to be compatible with Samsung Pay, so we’ll hear more about that then. In the meantime, tell us how you feel about this new partnership with MasterCard. Are you rooting for Samsung’s instant payment service to arrive in Europe? Let us know by leaving a comment.

Chinese customers can now remove bloatware from their Samsung devices

Samsung has always been criticized with loading up too much bloatware on its devices which negatively affects performance and while the company has changed gears by allowing Galaxy S6 and S6 edge users to disable more pre-installed apps than before it’s penchant for bloatware has made it the target of a lawsuit in China. A committee to protect consumer rights in Shanghai, China sued Samsung for not allowing users to remove pre-installed applications. The committee particularly targeted the Galaxy Note 3 which comes with 44 pre-installed apps in China.

The company has said that it’s going to allow users of Galaxy handsets to delete pre-installed applications and it’s going to provide software patches to set things in motion starting August. Users who want to delete bloatware can download the patches through Samsung’s after-sales centers, the company also said on its website that it will also allow owners of recent devices like the Galaxy S6 to remove bloatware from their units. The committee isn’t going to let Samsung off the hook that easily though, it says that there are no imminent plans to drop the lawsuit and if Samsung fails to follow through on this promise “the legal tussle will be continued and expanded.”

Can we cross our fingers and hope that Samsung provides this option to Galaxy users outside of China? Don’t feel like that would do much good, Samsung has been compelled to do this due to a lawsuit which doesn’t have much influence outside China’s borders.

AT&T releases Android 5.1 for the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 LTE

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 LTE owners on AT&T have an update to look forward to today, they’re finally getting a taste of Lollipop even though this update was originally released late last year. The carrier has taken its sweet time in bringing Lollipop to this mid-range tablet but now that it’s finally here I don’t think users will be complaining any longer.

Android 5.1 includes all the bells and whistles of Android 5.0 Lollipop such as the improved user interface, better notification experience, a handful of new features as well as updated security software and improved memory management. The update also includes updated quick settings for better Wi-Fi and Bluetooth management and additional animations. It removes the WatchON, Beats Music and Famigo apps that were preloaded on the tablet. The LMY47X.T537AUCU1BOG5 update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 LTE is now being rolled out by AT&T and should go live for all users soon.

Signature Unlock for the Galaxy Note 3

Biometric security is a hot tech field in the smartphone market, currently, with many smartphones emerging with fingerprint scanners: the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, and the Galaxy S6 edge are leading the way in this regard. Google’s latest Android M update, set to arrive this fall, brings along with it native fingerprint security support – so more Android smartphones, including the upcoming Huawei Nexus, will showcase biometrics.

The Galaxy Note 3, from 2013, however, doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner. So, in the case of a Note 3 user, what can you do to secure your device? Well, you can take the route of using an unlock pattern, the usual, non-secure swipe motion, or a passcode. Each of these come with their own advantages and disadvantages. Did you know that there’s one new security feature that you may have never tried on the Galaxy Note 3?

The feature is called Signature Unlock, and the steps below will show you how to activate it on your Galaxy Note 3.

How to enable Signature Unlock on your Galaxy Note 3

To enable Signature Unlock, tap the “wheel” icon from the drop-down notification window. Once on the Settings page, scroll down to the “Personal” section and select “Lock screen.”

signature unlock galaxy note 3

Once in the lock screen settings, you’ll see five types of lock screen settings (Swipe, Signature, Pattern, PIN, and Password). Select “Signature.”

signature unlock 2

At this point, you’ll be required to register your signature with the S Pen three times in order to complete the Signature Unlock. Select a name (even a nickname) that you’re sure to remember using your S Pen stylus.

After writing it each time, press “confirm” at the bottom right. You’ll have to write your signature and press “confirm” three times. After the last time, you’ll see the number “3” at the top of the page. Press “Confirm” to complete the Signature Unlock.

signature unlock 3

signature unlock 4

signature unlock 5

After setting up your signature, you’ll have to create a backup pin in the event that you forget your nickname, or the style in which you wrote your signature. You’ll have to enter your PIN twice. After the second time, press “OK.”

signature unlock 6

Now, you’re all set. When you lock your phone screen, you’ll have to enter your designated signature.

While Signature Unlock may mandate you use your PIN code at some point in the near future, we find it to be a bit easier to remember than a PIN code (seeing that you can’t forget your actual name; a nickname may complicate things).

Do you have any questions about Signature Unlock? If so, do your thing in the comments.

Galaxy S6 edge+ price confirmed

As you all know by now Samsung has announced that its next Unpacked event is going to take place on August 13 in New York City and it’s going to unveil the Galaxy Note 5 at this event. Alongside the new Note handset Samsung will also be launching a new variant of the Galaxy S6 edge which is called the Galaxy S6 edge+. It features more or less the same specifications save for the larger display and a higher price tag.

Our insiders have confirmed to us that the Galaxy S6 edge+ price starts from 799,99 euro for the 32GB model, that’s close to $880 as per the prevailing rate. Since its launch the Galaxy S6 edge’s retail price has been 849,99 euro and Samsung is not going to be sell it for more than what it’s asking for the new variant which is why the price will be cut. Samsung has already confirmed today that it’s going to reduce prices of both the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge to maintain sales momentum. It’s possible that the Galaxy S6 edge might be discounted by 100 euro in order to make space for the Galaxy S6 edge+. The handset will go on sale starting August 21.

Samsung announces a couple of Tizen 3.0 features

At the Tizen Developer Summit 2015, Samsung has been talking about a lot of aspects of its open-source operating system, and the company also revealed a few details about the upcoming Tizen 3.0. Set to launch sometime in late 2015 or earlier next year, Tizen 3.0 will be about architectural changes that improve the overall experience for end users.

Tizen 3.0 will bring support for multiple users on a single device and 64-bit processing, and introduce an IoT (Internet of Things) framework. Performance will be enhanced thanks to under-the-hood changes, with reduced app launch times singled out by Samsung. Security will be getting a boost – Samsung didn’t go into too many details, but it says security will be enhanced but will also be simplified.

Tizen 3.0 will also carry over a few features from the next version of Tizen 2.4, including native support for navigation features like geofencing, routing and point-of-interests, meaning these will be usable no matter what mapping app you might be using on your Tizen device. There are a couple of more sessions left at the event, and we’ll be sure to tell you everything we learn later in the day.

Samsung confirms rotating bezel ring for the Gear A smartwatch

It has been a long time since Samsung has launched a smartwatch and many expect that the company will finally unveil the Gear A a.k.a Orbis at its event next month. While that remains to be seen the company did confirm today that its next smartwatch is going to have a rotating bezel ring, something which we have already told you about quite a long time back. The confirmation comes from Samsung’s Tizen Developer Summit 2015 in Bangalore, India, SamMobile is on the ground and tweeting live from the event.

Earlier this month we exclusively reported on the Gear A’s specifications which include an Exynos 3472 dual-core processor with 768MB RAM, 4GB internal storage and a 250mAh battery. Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), gyro, GPS, barometer and heart rate sensors will be present as well. The smartwatch’s display will have a 360×360 pixel resolution adorned with a rotating bezel ring to help with the navigation. Samsung has an event scheduled for August 13 and it’s likely that the company might announce the Orbis, we’ll just have to wait and see if that happens.

Samsung’s Q2 2015 financial results show a slight improvement, Galaxy with ‘larger screen’ confirmed

Samsung Electronics today announced financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2015 with the company reporting 48.54 trillion won ($41.7 billion) in revenue. Its operating profit for the quarter was 6.9 trillion won ($5.93 billion), both figures are a slight improvement over the previous quarter and happen to be in line with Samsung’s estimated second quarter consolidated revenues disclosed on July 7, 2015.

Due to increased shipments of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge overall revenue for Samsung’s mobile business improved slightly quarter-over-quarter even though overall smartphone shipments dropped due to lacklustre performance of mid-range and low-end handsets. Profits only increased marginally due to supply difficulties arising from higher than expected demand for the Galaxy S6 edge and increased marketing expenditures that are typically part of a flagship product launch. Overall the mobile device business brought in 26.06 trillion ($22.4 billion) in consolidated revenue and 2.76 trillion won ($2.37 billion) in operating profit for the quarter.

In the grander scheme of things the company attributes this slight quarter-over-quarter improvement in revenue and operating profit largely to the stellar performance of its semiconductor business which particularly saw mobile application processors and memory products stand out. The Consumer Electronics division played its part as well aided by Samsung’s new TV models.  Samsung says that in the second half of this year it will try to improve earnings, strong TV sales due to upcoming shopping seasons may help and it also expects to see sales growth for its 14-nanometer foundry business. Samsung will maintain sales momentum for its high-end mobile products by adjusting the price of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge while also launching a new model with a “larger screen,” it has essentially confirmed the Galaxy S6 edge+.

Samsung to “adjust” Galaxy S6 and S6 edge pricing to maintain momentum

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and S6 edge have been on the market for nearly 4 months now, and, with the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ on the way next month, the current lineup loses sales momentum. Samsung has seen the Galaxy S6 edge spark new life into the company’s lineup, and doesn’t want the wave to end.

Its solution? A price adjustment for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. A source familiar with Samsung’s plans says that Samsung will adjust the price point of both handsets. Details are scarce at this time, and no flat-rate price reduction has been provided.

Samsung’s profit falls are indicative of a large Android OEM giant that finds itself surrounded by Chinese rivals OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Huawei, who is on track to sell over 100 million smartphones by the end of the year, while Samsung is the only true rival to Cupertino company Apple, Inc. It has been said that Samsung’s 2014 “fortune fall” was due to the “flop” of the Galaxy S5, although the GS5 is still the second best-selling handset in the United States, ahead of Apple’s greatest, the iPhone 6 Plus.

Samsung’s desire to continue the momentum of its Galaxy S6 and S6 edge sales is a good business strategy, in an Android market where not one, but many, companies compete, and the players in the Android space find Seoul in a different position than Cupertino in the smartphone market.

We’re live at Samsung’s Tizen Developer Summit 2015

Samsung’s Tizen Developer Summit 2015 has kicked off in Bangalore, India today, and we’re live at the event to check out what’s brewing in Samsung’s homegrown mobile operating system. We’re expecting a little bit of information on the Gear A (aka Orbis), but most of it is probably going to be developer-related, and hence not too interesting for us.

But you can be sure we will report on everything that’s important and exciting. The Samsung Z3 should make an appearance as well; it’s supposed to be given away to a few lucky folks according to a recent rumor, but again, we wouldn’t bet on it.

Galaxy S6 edge+ may not feature Samsung’s new 16-megapixel camera sensor

On August 13 all eyes will be on Samsung as it takes to the stage in New York City to unveil the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+, these new handsets were initially expected to come in September but the company is believed to have pushed the launch to hold off competition from the new iPhones that come out in September. The Galaxy S6 edge+ is expected to have almost similar specifications as the Galaxy S6 edge including the same 16-megapixel rear camera.

Samsung often imports prototypes of upcoming devices into India for the purpose of research and development, only recently we caught a Galaxy S6 edge+ unit that it had brought into India. Import tracker Zauba points towards another Samsung import that consisted of 500 pieces of 16-megapixel 1/2.6″ camera modules destined for SM-G928 which is the model number for the Galaxy S6 edge+. They appear to be the same modules found in the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge so perhaps this handset won’t be touting the new camera sensor that Samsung showed off today.

Samsung patent shows moving smartwatch display

A new patent was recently unveiled by Patently Mobile according to which Samsung is working on a new smartwatch display that changes its position to accommodate the user. This is a very interesting concept that might open the way to some new features. Last year Samsung registered a lot of original concepts. A while ago we reported on another patent which detailed that Samsung wanted to add some additional touch controls on the side and backside of its future smartphones. They’re definitely working on improving user experience, and this new patent would make your viewing experience very comfortable. It basically works in a similar manner to a flip phone: the display raises itself at a particular angle for better viewing.

Why would this be useful? Well, it could take some quick pictures, it would be easier to look at your display and it would also make calling easier. The true use of this design appears in a driving situation where it would allow you to see your screen easier without moving your hand from the wheel, so it would improve driving safety. What do you think of this patent? Can you think of scenarios where this would be useful?

Samsung releasing the Galaxy Tab S2 in Taiwan early next month

Over the past few months we have been extensively covering all developments related to Samsung’s new tablets and the company finally unveiled the Galaxy Tab S2 last week, confirming much of what we had previously reported on. Now that Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Tab S2 it can get down to the business of selling this product which in the case of Taiwan is going to start from early August with prices of NT$19,900 (US$635), NT$ 15,900 (US$505), NT$16,900 (US$540) and NT$12,900 (US$410) for the 9.7-inch 4G, 9.7-inch Wi-Fi only, 8.0-inch 4G and 8.0-inch Wi-Fi models respectively.

Samsung Taiwan says that sales of 7-inch tablets in the country have been declining due to pressure from smartphones with large displays but this hasn’t affected sales of tablets with displays measuring 8-inch and above, adding that Samsung has been the largest vendor in the country’s tablet market in terms of market share since 2013. The Galaxy Tab S2 is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 5433 processor with 3GB RAM, it has 32/64GB internal storage, microSD card slot, 8-megapixel rear camera and 2.1-megapixel front camera, fingerprint sensor and it runs Android 5.0.2.

eBay has unlocked Galaxy S5 for just $340

eBay often offers some of the best deals on unlocked Samsung devices, just last week its deals provided significant savings on the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge. If you’re not too fond of the fact that these new handsets lack a removable battery and microSD card slot then you’d probably prefer the Galaxy S5 which has both features. eBay’s latest deal offers an unlocked Galaxy S5 for $339.99 which translates into savings of $360 since unlocked models usually go for $699.99.

Major US retailer Target is providing the units for this deal which are available in gold, black, blue and white colors with free shipping in the country. The unlocked Galaxy S5 is going to work with AT&T and T-Mobile in the United States as well as some prepaid carriers, it won’t work on Sprint, Verizon or other CDMA carriers. The Galaxy S5 may be a year old but it’s certainly much better than a mid-range smartphone that usually costs what it’s available for courtesy this deal right now so if you’ve been on the fence for far too long perhaps this is the best time to pick one up.

Galaxy Note 5 cases by Spigen now available for pre-order

Casemakers always provide hints about the design and dimensions of upcoming handsets, particularly if they are much awaited high-end devices like the Galaxy Note 5. Over the past few weeks several renders from casemakers have appeared online which gave us a look at the possible design of the Galaxy Note 5. Spigen is a well known casemaker that has already developed its first batch of Galaxy Note 5 cases and now it has put them up for pre-order, the company did this in March for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge as well.

Spigen currently has eight Galaxy Note 5 cases available for pre-order right now on its website with prices ranging from $14.99 – $34.99, they’re available in different colors and designs. Renders of the device can be seen covered up in these cases but they don’t make any new revelations about the design. Samsung is going to formally announce the Galaxy Note 5 at its next Unpacked event on August 13th with shipments to begin in select markets starting August 21st.

Samsung announces world-first 1.0μm-pixel, 16MP image sensor

Smartphones are getting thinner and lighter these days, but smaller form factors bring new problems such as how to design components that maintain the intended smaller size(s). Today, Samsung announced its new, 1.0μm, pixel-based 16MP image sensor to allow manufacturers to maintain a slim smartphone while providing the very best in camera technology.

The new sensor, dubbed S5K3P3 with a less-than-5mm thin profile, is said to reduce module height by twenty percent while maintaining the image quality of current 1.12μm-pixel image sensors. The new image-based sensors include Samsung’s ISOCELL camera technology that can be seen in the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4, and the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.

“As a trendsetter in the mobile image sensor business, we are pleased to be the first to deliver the most advanced 1.0μm-pixel imager, which meets both high-resolution and slim design requirements for smartphone cameras,” said Samsung S.LSI Marketing Vice President and Head Kyushik Hong.

The new 1.0μm-pixel image sensor is available today for purchase.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 might not be available in Russia initially

A new tweet from Eldar Murtazin suggests that the Galaxy Note 5 will not be available in Russia for the first few months after its initial release. This news comes after some speculation that the phablet could be launched selectively.

A couple of weeks ago we were reporting that the Galaxy Note 5 might not make it to Europe initially, and since then we’re starting to hear more and more rumors in that regard. Among the list of countries that will definitely be seeing the Galaxy Note 5 upon its launch are South Korea, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Asia.

It’s obvious that Samsung will increase it’s profit with every region it releases the Galaxy Note 5 on, but this may be a matter of priority. The tech company could focus towards the Galaxy S6 Edge+ release which means a smaller budget for the Galaxy Note 5, but in any case, the phable will arrive in all regions sooner or later.

Feel free to let us know what you think about this rumor by leaving a comment.

Samsung introduces Galaxy Folder flip phone successor

A new Samsung announcement brings us an exciting successor to last year’s Galaxy Folder and a worthy competitor to LG’s recently announced G Gentle. There are many notable changes this year and it’s going to be very affordable when it’s released in South Korea next month.

Samsung never quite gave up on flip phones. Every year they release some new devices and last year we had the Galaxy Folder with a resolution of 480×800, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.2.2 on it. A lot of people prefer flip phones because they are very ergonomic, very resistant and their battery life is amazing.

Now we’re looking at a successor for the Galaxy Folder which is pretty good. The phone is very convenient to use because you have both a keypad as well as a touchscreen, plus it will run Android Lollipop. It features an F2.2 aperture and it’s all powered by a huge 1,800mAh battery which is more than enough for its 3.8-inch display. The device will be available starting next month at around $250 but there’s not much hope to see it on other markets than Korea. You’ll also only find it in two color options: dark blue and white.

Tell us what you think about this flip phone by leaving a comment.

Galaxy Unpacked 2015 date set for August 13th in NYC

It’s about that time, Samsung faithful! The Korean manufacturer we know and love is gearing up to reveal two gorgeous handsets to the market. According to Samsung’s own blog post, the company intends to host its Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event on August 13, 2015 at New York City’s Alice Tully Hall, located in the Lincoln Center, at 11:00 EDT, with the doors to open an hour earlier (10:00 EDT).

While Samsung has said nothing regarding what we can expect on the magic date, we’ve seen enough Galaxy Note 5 and S6 edge+ leaks to know what to expect. And, if you’ve been following the company long enough, you’ll understand that Samsung always likes to have a late-in-the-year party to follow up its Spring announcement.

Samsung also says that, as usual, it’ll stream the announcement live via its blog and YouTube channels, so Samsung faithful shouldn’t find it hard to view “the next big thing” on-screen. To get to the right place at the right time, hit up the source link below.

Confirmed: Galaxy Note 5 will have 4GB RAM, Exynos 7422

Like every other year since the last four, there’s been a great build-up around the next-generation Galaxy Note phablet that Samsung will unveil. The launch isn’t very far, purportedly scheduled for mid-August; but the leaks and rumors keep coming regardless of that fact.

First posted on GSMArena, a screenshot allegedly from a Galaxy Note 5 running the CPU-Z application confirms the existence of 4GB RAM and the speculated Exynos 7422 SoC for the phablet, along with a QHD 5.7-inch display and other goodies. The model number of the device that exposed this info is SM-N920F.

It’s been a bad day at the office for Samsung officials, after some high-res photos of the Galaxy Note 5 leaked moments before we got this bit of info.

High-res photos of the Galaxy Note 5 leaked

I’m sure many of you are anxious to see what the Galaxy Note 5 looks like, multiple renders of the device have already been leaked and we’ve even seen some blurry pictures of the device itself. There’s a real treat today for fans of the Note series, high-res photos of the Galaxy Note 5 have been leaked online. The device seen in these photos reiterates all that we know about the Galaxy Note 5′s design so there’s no reason to believe that you’ll be in for a surprise when the device launches on August 12.

The pictures have been leaked from China and show the device from all angles, for the first time we get a good look at the dual curved glass back of this handset. As expected the Galaxy Note 5 has a sturdy-looking metal frame that’s quite similar to the one found on the Galaxy S6, at the bottom there’s a microUSB port, headset jack, speaker and S Pen. It was speculated that perhaps there might be a different eject mechanism for the S Pen this time around but multiple leaks show that it’s going to be business as usual as far as taking out the S Pen is concerned.

Samsung hasn’t even formally confirmed the launch date yet and we’ve already seen the device in all its glory, and we’ve already told you about its specifications, all that’s left now is for the customary announcement to be made on August 12, though you might find it hard to get your hands on one when the handset is released on August 21.

Galaxy J1 appears to be doing quite well in the United Kingdom

Samsung’s first smartphone in the Galaxy J series is the Galaxy J1, it was launched earlier this year and so far the handset has been released in a few markets across the globe. It happens to be the cheapest 4G LTE Android-powered smartphone from Samsung and price is one of the biggest reasons why this handset is so appealing to some customers. The Galaxy J1 appears to be done particularly well in the United Kingdom.

An image has been leaked online today which shows stock update for Three UK employees, the image reveals that the Galaxy J1 is still “heavily constrained” as the retailer waits for more shipments from Samsung. The Galaxy J1 is reportedly in sharp demand partly because it’s available for as low as £8 per month on contract or £59.99 unlocked. Even though the price is compelling enough this may not be the budget smartphone that you’re looking for, with its 4.3-inch WVGA LCD display, Cortex-A7 processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB storage with microSD card support and 5-megapixel rear camera. The handset runs Android 4.4 KitKat.

T-Mobile releases minor update for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge

It appears that the first post-Android 5.1.1 update for the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge isn’t just limited to France, earlier today we reported about a 230 MB update for the handsets carrying build number G920FXXU2BOG8. T-Mobile has just rolled out a minor update of its own for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge which brings various bug fixes and performance improvements.

This is not a major update by any means as it comes in at just under 103 MB, T-Mobile is rolling out the update right now for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge with build number G920TUVU2COF6 and G925TUVU2COF8 respectively. Official support documents mention bug fixes as well as battery and device improvements for both handsets and a cocktailbar error fix for the Galaxy S6 edge. T-Mobile subscribers will be keeping their fingers crossed for a fix for the recurring battery drain bug with VoLTE enabled, this bug has been present since launch and hopefully the carrier has fixed it in this update.

Samsung Galaxy S6 behind Samsung Z1 sales in India Q2 2015

A recent report from Counterpoint Research suggests that Samsung Z1 sales in India during the second quarter of this year have surpassed the Galaxy S6 sales. This is a pretty impressive feat for Samsung but things might turn in the S6′s favor if they keep up with the marketing campaigns.

With the Samsung Z1 surpassing the Galaxy S6 in terms of sales in India, Samsung still remains the leader in handset and smartphone shipment share. According to Counterpoint Research, Samsung has an 18.7% shipments share in India during the second quarter of this year. It also has a 24.5% smartphone shipments share, a decrease of 3.3% from Q1 2015, when it had 27.8%. Samsung definitely focused their efforts towards marketing this year, which is easily noticeable when you look at various sales reports.

Part of Samsung’s success in India is also owed to the fact that the company manufactures a lot of devices in that region, including the Z1. The Noida facility for instance, which was opened in 1997 is ranked as the #1 Samsung subsidiary in terms of delivering the highest productivity for Mobile, Refrigerator and LED Televisions. With the Note 5 coming up and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ we will likely see an even bigger increase in sales, leaving Samsung the leader of the mobile market.

Let us know what you think about this report by leaving a comment.
