It’s not unheard of to spot devices on benchmark websites that might be under development, that’s usually when we first get word that a new device is in the pipeline. Looks like Samsung has a very powerful device in the works because an unknown handset from the company has been spotted lighting up the AnTuTu benchmark with a record score of 95,972. SM-8508S is listed as the model number of this mystery device from Samsung.
There’s not much information available about SM-8508S at this point in time, we know that it’s not the Galaxy Note 5 or the Galaxy S6 edge+ because they don’t carry this model number, and it doesn’t appear to be a new variant of the Galaxy S6. Tech specs of this device are not available so it’s unclear whether it’s running a Samsung processor or one from Qualcomm. One could speculate that this might be a prototype of the Galaxy S7, which a recent report suggested could be developed by December this year, but then again that would simply be speculation with possibly no basis in fact. We’ll keep our eyes and ears open for more information on this device.
