Samsung is still churning out clamshell smartphones, but their availability is limited to some Asian markets. After releasing the Galaxy Golden in 2013, the company was working on its successor, the Galaxy Golden 2, but it was released only in China. Now, it looks like Samsung is working on the SM-W2016, and going by its model number, the company might call it the Galaxy Golden 3.
The SM-W2016 has surfaced on GFXBench, and according to the information listed in the benchmark, the device looks like a clamshell version of the Galaxy S6. It runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and features a 4.6-inch HD display, an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, 3GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, a 16-megapixel primary camera, and a 5-megapixel secondary camera.
There’s currently no information regarding the battery capacity of this device. It is completely possible that Samsung might release the Galaxy Golden 3 only in China and maybe South Korea, similar to its predecessors. If you are a fan of clamshell devices, would you buy the Galaxy Golden 3 if it releases in your country?
