In December last year, Samsung made the 2016 iteration of the Galaxy A series official, with upgraded models of the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 and the Galaxy A9 part of the new lineup. The Galaxy A9 is the largest phone in the series yet, with a giant 4,000 mAh battery that is bound to be a monster in terms of endurance, and we have received exclusive information that Samsung is now working on a Galaxy A9 Pro.
The Galaxy A9 Pro (which may or may not be the final name) carries model number SM-A9100 (the Galaxy A9 is SM-A9000), and we can confirm that development for the device’s firmware is underway. The A9100 is for the Chinese market; we don’t have any other details on the handset, so for now there is no saying what the Pro variant will bring over the regular model. Perhaps a display with higher resolution (the A9 uses a Full HD 6-inch panel)? More internal storage? Or maybe, Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box?
Samsung’s new A series already offers the best hardware that we have seen on a non-flagship lineup from the company, and it will be interesting to see what the Galaxy A9 Pro will bring to the table. We’re working on getting more information on the device; check out our hands-on of the Galaxy A9 in the meantime, and do let us know what you think could warrant a Galaxy A9 Pro.
