Samsung has just started rolling out a rather nifty update for its Smart Switch client for Mac and PC. This upgrade brings support for Android 6.0 Marshmallow, in addition to the usual truck load of bug fixes, stability improvements and speed optimizations we’ve come to expect from any new software update.
Just in case you’re unfamiliar with Smart Switch, it’s a fully fledged migration suite which not only enables you to move contacts, documents, music, photos, videos, calendar events, text messages, calls logs, memos, alerts, wallpapers and Wi-Fi settings from any Android-, BlackBerry- or iOS-powered smartphone to a new Galaxy-branded device, but permits you to upgrade your handset’s software, too.
At this precise moment in time, the update isn’t particularly useful to anyone with access to the software as Samsung hasn’t yet begun rolling out the Marshmallow update to any of its lineup, but it is a pretty good indication that the company could soon start doing so. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge should be getting Android 6.0 first as the two devices were treated to a Marshmallow beta test, followed by devices like the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+.
