One of the most talked about features Samsung’s flagship smartphones of 2016, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, are their Always On displays. For those unaware of this new functionality, it’s a low-energy software tweak that empowers a small part of the screen to stay on at all times in order to provide users with easy access to notifications, time, date and battery statistics without physically having to unlock their device.
Strangely, the Always On feature doesn’t come enabled straight out of the box, but thankfully, it’s super easy to activate. All you have to do is head into Settings, followed by Display, then tap Always On Display and slide the toggle from Off to On. The next time you lock your device, you will notice that the display will fade to a black background, but a small portion will remain illuminated exhibiting either a clock, calendar or image.
You do, of course, have the option to choose what’s displayed on the screen of your device. The choices are fairly restricted, though. You only have the resources to alter the clock style and background image. If you’d like to have a play around with the options, hit the button entitled Content to Show while in the Always On Display menu.
