The Galaxy S6 was a proper evolutionary update over its predecessor as Samsung adopted a metal and glass combination that made the handset look and feel very high quality and while it did perform reasonably well, Samsung appears to have a real winner on its hands with the Galaxy S7. Multiple reports now suggest that the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge having been performing much better than their predecessors in the market, one report claims that Samsung has sold more than 10 million units of its new flagships combined.
Counterpoint Research says that Samsung has sold 20 percent more units of its new flagships in the first month alone as opposed to units of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge it sold in the first month after launch. The research report mentions that Samsung has likely sold more than 10 million units, that’s sales to end customers and not just shipments to retailers, and that seems quite possible as Samsung’s earnings guidance for Q1 2016 seems to suggest that the resurgence of its mobile business in the high-end segment is courtesy of the new flagships.
