Samsung SDS and IBM have announced that the firms will join hands to provide security services for clients in the energy and utility industry. Samsung’s IT services arm will provide customers with latest security threats using IBM’s cloud-based threat intelligence sharing platform, X-Force Exchange.
Samsung had created a cyber security team within the company last year and acquired a stake in the security firm SECUI. The South Korean technology giant will also provide the Big Blue’s complete security framework that’s optimized for businesses that manage energy and utility.
The firms said that protecting the backbone infrastructure and maintaining system safety against aging hardware is the key to success in the energy and utility industry. The framework that Samsung wants to use collects data from every sensor in a production line for analysis. It can protect applications, endpoints, and the network itself.
