T-Mobile rolls out another security update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in the US

The United States’ third-largest operator, T-Mobile, has today started rolling out yet another security update for its carrier-branded variants of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge located in the region. The upgrade itself is relatively small, weighing in at around 40MB, but don’t let its size fool you as it carries a patch for a critical software vulnerability that could, if not dealt with correctly, have resulted in a handset’s entire memory being erased.

If you own a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge, reside in the US and would like to see if the upgrade is ready for your phone, simply head into Settings, followed by About Device, locate and select Software Update, then hit the Update Now button. Alternatively, you can wait until you receive a push notification prompting you to download and install the update from Samsung’s servers, but you’ll only receive this prompt if you have at least 50% of battery and are connected to a Wi-Fi network.
