The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge come with 5-megapixel front-facing camera with ƒ/1.7 aperture and a wide-angle lens, which is expected to be much better than the 2-megapixel front-facing camera with a ƒ/2.4 aperture on the Galaxy S5. However, consumers in Thailand are complaining about Galaxy S7 and S7 edge’s front-facing camera.
According to a report from Business Korea, Galaxy S7 and S7 edge users in Thailand are complaining about the picture quality of the front-facing camera. Tety Peachy, a female consumer from Thailand, who is a part of a Galaxy S7 and S7 edge users club with approximately 10,000 members, took some pictures using the front-facing cameras of the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S7.
She claimed that the Galaxy S7 provided defocused and less clear pictures. “The same problems have been pointed out by a number of members of my Facebook club, and they could not find any solution at Samsung Electronics’ after-sales service centers in Thailand. Selfies appear blurred, subjects in front appear yellowish, and the touch screen does not work well,” she said.
Tety Peachy went on to say, “Some of them could get new products only after visiting the service centers no less than five times and some consumers in my country filed a complaint against Samsung Electronics with the Office of the Consumer Protection Board.” She claims that Galaxy S7 and S7 edge units produced in Korea are free from these problems unlike those produced in Vietnam.
“The promo pictures shown on Samsung Electronics’ blog must have been taken with the products produced in South Korea and the products available in Thailand are supplied from Vietnam, which I believe is the cause. These days, Thai consumers’ complaints are spreading across the country although local news outlets have yet to cover the issue,” she said.
Responding to a query from Business Korea regarding the matter, Samsung claimed that its products produced in South Korea and Vietnam have no difference in quality at all. What do you think about the picture quality of the front-facing camera on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge?
