Samsung has announced that the company’s mobile payment service, Samsung Pay, is now available in Australia. Samsung Pay will be available in the country starting today on compatible Samsung smartphones including the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, and Galaxy Note 5.
Samsung Pay works almost anywhere credit and debit cards are accepted. In Australia, the South Korean technology giant has partnered with American Express and Citibank for Samsung Pay. The service comes with three layers of security: fingerprint authentication, tokenization and Samsung KNOX.
“Today’s launch of Samsung Pay offers more than a secure and convenient way for Samsung smartphone owners to pay. It’s the next development for Australians who use their smartphone as the central device to live, organize and enjoy their lives” said Prasad Gokhale, Vice President, Mobile Division, Samsung Australia.
Samsung Pay is also available in China, South Korea, Spain, and the US. The service has surpassed more than 5 million registered users in the first six months after launch in the US and South Korea, clocking in more than $1 billion transactions in South Korea alone.
