We spotted a new trademark filing made by Samsung in the European Union about two weeks ago which suggested that the company could soon be launching a new cloud storage service for its smartphones and tablets. The service was named “Samsung Cloud Together” in the trademark filing and electronic storage of data, images, photos, videos, audios and more was mentioned in it. A new report reiterates the finding and claims that the service will simply be called Samsung Cloud and that the Galaxy Note 7 will ship with it.
Think of Samsung Cloud as the company’s iCloud competitor. It will enable users to back up their data to the cloud and access all of it across multiple supported devices. The report also mentions that all Galaxy Note 7 customers will receive 5GB of free Samsung Cloud storage. It’s likely that paid plans might be offered as well to those who require more cloud storage. Samsung’s official event for the Galaxy Note 7 is scheduled for August 2 so expect to hear more about Samsung Cloud at the event.
