Everything has been about the Galaxy Note 7 today and rightly so, it’s one of the best Note flagships that Samsung has ever released, but I would ask you to turn your attention to the Galaxy S7 edge for a moment. You may have already heard that the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge performed spectacularly well in the market after launch and allowed Samsung to post its most profitable quarter in two years. Latest data shows that the Galaxy S7 edge actually ruled the global Android smartphone market as it was the best selling Android smartphone in the first half of this year.
Data from Strategy Analytics shows that Samsung shipped more than 13.3 million units of the Galaxy S7 edge during the first half of 2016. That’s not all. Samsung handsets actually took the top three positions with the Galaxy J2 coming in second place with 13 million units shipped and the Galaxy S7 coming third with shipments of 11.8 million units. The Galaxy S7 edge remains popular in countless markets across the globe even though it has been out for over six months now. Samsung forecasted in its earnings release that the Galaxy S7 series’ momentum will continue in the second half of this year and that its mobile business will also be aided by the Galaxy Note 7 which may very well prove to be one of the best selling Android handsets in the second half of 2016.
