Samsung said late last year that it would bring iOS support to Gear S2 by mid-January 2016. That obviously did not happen and we have all been waiting for a very long time for the Gear S2 to finally become compatible with the iPhone. Those who own Samsung’s first circular smartwatch will be delighted to know that the Gear S2 iOS beta program has finally begun.
Samsung has actually launched this beta program for both the Gear S2 and the Gear Fit 2, its new fitness and activity tracker, which will also be compatible with iOS devices. Participation in the program is voluntary and Samsung will use the feedback from participants to further improve the Gear Manager app for iOS.
The beta program has started today and will through to September 19. Even cellular models of the Gear S2 are supported. You must have an iPhone running iOS 8.4 or later to take part in this beta program. To participate, head over to the beta signup page and fill in your details after which you will be provided instructions on how to install the app and pair the Gear S2 or Gear Fit 2 to your iPhone. This is now a big indication that iOS support for the Gear S2 is in final stages of completion and it’s only a matter of time before it’s rolled out to the public.
