Samsung has done it again. The South Korean smartphone giant, which was once believed to be losing steam, has once again topped the Indian market. The company’s global rival Apple was nowhere to be found in the list of top vendors as per the latest data.
According to a new report by market research firm IDC, Samsung was the top smartphone vendor in India during Q2 2016 with a market share of 25.1 percent. The local smartphone vendor Micromax managed to grab a market share of 12.9 percent, while the Lenovo Group (which includes Motorola) stood third in the list with a market share of 7.7 percent.
After Samsung’s market share fell to just 20 percent two years ago, the company has bounced back by launching best-selling products like the Galaxy J5 and the Galaxy J7 in the affordable smartphone segment. The company also launched dual-SIM variants of all its high-end smartphones since last year due to market demand. On the other hand, sales of iPhones have further reduced due to comical price tags.
