Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy Tab S2 is now being developed

Samsung has already confirmed that it’s developing Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge. It has launched the Galaxy Beta Program for both flagships through which users in select markets can register for a chance to try out the beta firmware. Earlier this week we confirmed that Samsung had also started Nougat development for the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge. We can now confirm that Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy Tab S2 is now being developed as well.

It seems that Samsung is picking up the pace this time around and users are certainly going to like that. However, just because development has started doesn’t mean the firmware is going to be released soon. It’s likely going to take Samsung a couple of months to get the update ready for the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy Tab S2. It hasn’t even confirmed yet when Nougat is going to be released for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge, both flagships may not get Android 7.0 before 2017.

If you’re curious about all of the new improvements that Samsung has baked into Android 7.0, take a look at our What’s New With Nougat series. Keep in mind that it’s still unclear whether the new UX that we’ve seen in beta builds for the Galaxy S7 is going to make its way to last year’s flagships. Fingers crossed!
