Optus hopes to start rolling out the Nougat update for the Galaxy A5 this month

Australia’s largest carrier Optus has updated its website with some fresh information on the long-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update for the first-generation Galaxy A5. Originally expected to make its way to the handset sometime around the end of January, the operator has now revealed that the firmware is still undergoing tests and should start being distributed by the end of this month.

Unfortunately, an exact release date wasn’t provided. We do, of course, hope that it starts making the rounds sooner than later, though, as the firm has a number of other smartphones in its lineup — including the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge — that are eligible to receive the update, but won’t until it’s successfully arrived on all its carrier-branded variants of the Galaxy A5.
