Bixby, Samsung’s AI-powered digital voice assistant, was one of the most talked about features during the announcement of the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The company made tall claims that any action that can be accomplished by touching a smartphone’s display can also be performed using Bixby’s voice recognition capabilities. However, the feature wasn’t ready in time for the Galaxy S8′s launch.
Samsung announced the launch of Bixby Voice in Korea yesterday. Now, the company has published five new videos on its YouTube channel that showcase Bixby Voice’s prowess. Although these videos are in Korean, we can clearly see that the dedicated Bixby button on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ can be pressed once to launch the voice assistant and dictate various commands.
The first video shows how Bixby Voice can be used to launch the gallery app, find images (matching a user’s criteria), and rotate or stylize images. Users can also like or selecting multiple images, share images with friends, or even set an image as a wallpaper. Bixby can also be used to launch the camera, change camera modes, or alter various camera settings.
Other videos show how to compose messages, insert smileys, reply to messages, and more using Bixby Voice. It can also change various device settings such as volume and display. Users can also set and delete reminders or translate text from one language to another using Bixby Vision. Users can also find and play music, check health statistics through Samsung Health, or see shopping offers from Samsung Pay.
The feature isn’t available out of Korea as of now, but you can still go ahead and check out all the videos to see what Bixby Voice can do.
