The Galaxy A5 (2017) has started receiving a maintenance update in Europe. According to the folks over at Galaxy Club, the upgrade, which weighs in at a little under 30MB and carries the firmware version A520FXXU2AQF5, bundles a number of essential bug fixes — so needless to say, it’s something that all owners are going to want to install as soon as it’s available for their handset.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the update is based on this month’s security release. When we installed the firmware on our Galaxy A5 (2017), it continued to list June as the latest security level, leading us to believe that the device will receive another upgrade in the not-too-distant future, transporting patches for 65 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) in the Android operating system.

If you own a Galaxy A5 (2017), chances are you’re more concerned about when it’ll receive the much-anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat update. It’s still looking like the upgrade will arrive towards the beginning of this month, though we’re yet to see any signs that it’s ready to start making the rounds. We will, of course, continue to keep our eyes peeled.
