Samsung released the beta version of its Samsung Internet mobile browser earlier this year. It enabled users to try out new features in development before they’re rolled out to the public. Samsung has now released a new beta of its web browser. Samsung Internet Beta v6 brings several new features including a night mode.
One of the biggest features included in the latest beta of Samsung Internet is the night mode. This particular option is proving to be very popular as it helps limit the amount of bright light that users are subjected to.
The night mode in Samsung Internet can be activated from the main menu or from the floating. However, it’s evident that the night mode needs a bit more work, there are some noticeable issues with the contrast that sully what should have been a simpler user experience.
Samsung Internet Beta v6 brings a “Sync with Samsung Cloud” option which lets users back up and restore their bookmarks and preferences. Experimental flags like Web Bluetooth, WebGL 2 and Gamepad extensions have been added as well. They can be enabled from Internet://flags.
The beta launches to a new splash page which suggests all of the different ad blocking extensions that users can install. Samsung Internet has long had support for ad blocking extensions so the new splash page appears to be for the purpose of notifying more users that this functionality exists.
There’s a new accessibility section which lists the high contrast mode. The contrast is clearer and there’s no dark mask so it looks better than the night mode but certainly leaves room for Samsung to polish it up before rolling it out to the stable version of Samsung Internet.
Samsung Internet Beta v6 is now available for download from the Google Play Store.
